This course is exactly must learn course for any sax fan with less than two years sax experience. My mind was waay confused after lesson six, and i really recommend this course to aaalll amateur sax players
Ernist, I’m glad it helped you.
Thank you, Jay! YOU ROCK. I am taking up the tenor sax at age 67. I always loved the sound and it is very cool to have you for my teacher.
Now I understand why I need to practice all those scales ... I haven't understood that before.
Thank you for this. I was having such a hard time and I didn’t know that it was just that simple
Your videos have helped me make a jump. Thank you.
Thank You !
Great course if you are relatively new to the saxophone or pick it up again after a while
Great lessons package!!! I’m a big fan of your teaching methods!!! Thanks!!!🚀
+Rocket R W Turner Thanks!
thanks
If it is possible to play quickly tunes on the saxophone using the pentatonic scale, could this be applied to other instruments as well such as the keyboard?
Sir I appreciate what you're doing,I started learning your play by ear course, but I have a problem with videolessons there cuz they're can't be played no matter what I do, could you help with this,I must learn to improvise ,thanks in advance
Thanks for the effort! However i clicked in the site and was unable to submit the form. Can you help?
Check the support page and follow the instructions. bettersax.com/support
Is the crash course still available- link wouldn’t open on the video
Yes it's available. Try again, link works. bettersax.com/psbe
Jay
What key were you playing the doors song in?
Gene
+Gene F that's in Concert A minor, but the pentatonic scale used in the solo is E minor. That's a little improvisation trick to get a different sound.
What mouthpiece do have in this video and tenor sax
Is the crash course still available? I entered my info but didn't receive an email..
How do you like that harness? i just ordered one lol.
He has a video on neckstraps where he talks about it
Where's the link
What is your definition of playing by ear? Is it the ability to hear a melody and play right away the melody or you mean learning without using a music so that you need to find the melody . I found myself just do not have the ability to listen and play. I had practiced the solfege etc, my hearing just improved a bit from totally deaf to the level I can hum the melody and find the notes. I had noticed that either a person has good ear or does not have. Regardless how much we practice, the improvement is very small if one does not have the innate ability. It is basically like color blind people. It is really frustrating!!!
I had to work on playing by ear and it has improved over time. Enroll in my free Play Sax by Ear Course, and I bet you will be able to play a few things by ear by the end... bettersax.com/psbe
I agree with Jay. I started singing while tone deaf on SEVERAL different instruments, including voice! But I've gotten better over time.
Now, it's slightly annoying because i can DEFINITELY tell if a drum lug or someone is "out" (of tune). Then. i HAVE TO go get it and fix it whenever possible. In a bar, you kind of have to play it as it lays (like golf) because you simply don't have time to tune an enture drum kit from nothing. These things tend to get tuned by guitar players (who, of course, don't know drums :)
But if i can go from very ignorant to fairly decent, so can you!
When you learn how it should all sound, you'll have relative pitch.
Sing the note you're trying to tune to, take some voice lessons. download the tuner app he talks about, and work at it. Music takes a bit of work daily to get better, no matter what. You'll never have perfect pitch (either innate or learned in childhood) but if you get relative pitch, it won't matter. :)
Keep trying!
In which case, i go deal with the urgent issues and leave it. There's always a drum tuning key on my car keys, lol It can be a piano, which is another hilarious animal (hard to sing to a flat piano, lol.)
I used to think like you; that having perfect/relative pitch (playing by ear) was a gift of genetics. When you start talking to professional musicians, you start learning that a lot of them were NOT born with perfect pitch, but instead developed it over a number of years. My father and stepfather have both played the guitar in professional settings, and they both play by ear; neither one of them was "born" with the ability. Like any skill, it took practice.

No strings attached 😆 get it
Hi Better Sax. I really wanted to buy the sax lessons bundle with the DVD. Had some issues so I emailed you. So far, no response. Hostilely , it looks like your support is terrible. Really like your vids. :) . Thinking of going somewhere else.
Luis I replied to your email. Please check junk and spam folders.
