As Coach Ukai said "Don't go underestimating what it takes to be a ball boy" Remember the flashbacks from the third years? Daichi became a ball boy, and Kageyama also became a ball boy when he was in junior high school.
Kageyama telling hoshiumi that he was a great reference is because Hoshiumi is just about the same height as Hinata, yet he is at the Youth Camp. So hoshiumi is basically an example of how good hinata could be and kageyama is going to take every information possible for that.
I wouldn't exactly say he is the same height as Hinata, I think the difference is that Hoshiumi is pretty small 169 cm but Hinata is almost ridiculously small at 164 cm. And I wouldn't say he is a direct example of how good hinata can be but he is showing Kageyama what a skilled player of that height looks like. And that is showing that some of the preconceptions Kageyama had about Hinata being short are wrong and can be "fixed" or improved.
@@megamert2848I don't think Kageyama ever thought Hinata's height was a predisposing factor towards everything he was lacking in Volleyball, at least not since after their first match. Pretty much every criticism Kageyama lobs at Hinata has to do with his basic abilities as a player (i.e. recieves, blocking, serves), and all of that rounds back on Hinata's lack of proper work ethic in the sport up until the ball boy arc. You have to keep in mind everything Hinata learned in this arc Kageyama had already experienced and applied to his own routine, just years earlier. He's always viewed Hinata's trajectory through the lense that if you work hard enough you absolutely will become great at Volleyball.

It's such a great and necessary arc for Hinata. With all the comments about the OVAs last video (and probably on Patreon too), I'm hoping y'all watched them.
Hinata gets the hint of "take it easy" when Koganegawa says Kunimi is taking it way too easy and takes it in a completely different way. Such brilliant writing.
Omg I always start to tear up in these episodes, seeing Hinata grow so much. The coach was right, Hinata is an empty vessel ready to be filled with all the knowledge he has yet to come across. I can't say that a certain season is my favourite but I CAN say that this one has some of the most beautiful moments imo
Love that these guys almost don't say anything to fully enjoy the episodes. ALSO! 1 reason why the girls have the hots for that second year setter in Kageyama's training camp, that guy is voiced by one of the most popular voice actor and his dialects are so good
Ball boy arc is my most favorite, though. It's like Hinata is learning volleyball from the very start again. But this time, with so much information to take in and to learn from.
Hanae-san has also done Tanjiro, Kaneki, Falco, All-Hunt from the Marine rookie arc, Vanitas, Kosei Arima and Xiao Liu from Link click that I really want them to react 🥹
Patreon, did they react to the ova's land vs air and the ending with Shiratorizawa? 1:19 I don't agree, I feel Hinata still sucks at most things, and what Washijo said is very true, without Kageyama he doesn't stand out much, they invited people who already have more going for them, except in some aspects Hyakuzawa, although height, especially at that age, is already a huuuuge advantage 1:49 Washijo did not give up! if he did he wouldn't be such a succesful coach. It's a common miss conception of his character, at his time there was truly no way for him to play, volleyball has changed through the years, now it's much more dynamic, if Hinata had been born at that time then the story would have been about finding other ways (coaching) to do what you love, instead of the one we get of not letting your disadvatages keep you from it. Washijo achieved the best ending for his time 3:05 Thanks. So many reactors get soooo fixated with it (I mean these aren't the worse ep so we'll see) to the point of not even paying attention to the story when it isn't very distracting as long as you don't overanalyse it. I, for one, did not notice on my first watch 6:16 But imagine you are any other player in the prefecture who wasn't invited to the camp, and then you hear someone broke in and is treated as a guest, that would send the wrong message 9:24 they aren't scared, they are all focusing on improving their serves, also, it doesn't matter that they are in the gym, like it was just shown what Ukai told them, they have to pretend every practice is a real serious game, "practice like it's a real game and in a real game play like it's practice" I think the saying goes something like that 15:01 Many call him a germaphobe but I don't agree, he wouldn't play volleyball if he was, besides when it's dived deeper in the manga it shows there is another reason than fearing germs 15:29 A little detail that someone who speaks japanese told me is that the way that these two coaches speak here indicates that they are Shiratorizawa alumni, and coach Washijo's students, which makes their conversations and interactions soooo sweet, also if anyone can interpret what he is thinking it would be them 15:42 It was a smile, of course he had frustration in losing but the asistant coach is saying that he was smiling inspite of having just lost, it was shown in the actual last point, it wasn't cut 16:42 Hinata did know but it's also because the blockers were already covering the cross, receivers have to work with blockers to cover more, like Karasuno did against Shiratorizawa, but that was more of a plan, and this is something that has to happen almost organically, like at 3:29 they move in synch 18:48 I have never heard anyone comparing Atsumu with Ushijima, plenty with Oikawa, but never Ushijima... I suppose because he says the thruth, but he knows he is saying it in a rude way, he just doesn't care, unlike Ushijima who truly doesn't want to offend anyone, he just doesn't realise 20:24 Because it isn't his training camp technically, it is in Shiratorizawa, so he has authority, but it was thought and organized by Johenzi's coach, so he is in charge of training 20:28 It's a beach volleyball equivalent to a dink, so technically, not against rules 22:15 He means, beat him at his best. Hinata doesn't like to win just to win, he likes the game itself, winning just means getting better, playing more and facing stronger opponents, if he just wanted to win he could play against lesser schools and call it a day, but he wants to play against strong opponents and get better. Edit: you kind of talk about it at the end but well, I'll leave it there 23:43 I feel that we don't get a lot of him because this training serves more of a teaser for players to come, so it would be kind of spoiled if they show too much, instead Hinata and Tsukki are with familiar faces so we get to explore more. Besides, what Hinata is learning is more basic, so it's easier to understand while Kageyama is learning techinques to improve his already polished techiques, it's not as easy, or entrataining for an episode, like steping a bit farther from the net, maybe with Hinata we would get an explanation because it makes sense that he doesn't get it but Kageyama sees the improvenment instantly. Don't worry he does learn tricks here but they aren't shown as explicitly as Hinata's, the sad thing is, they may not emphasis this later on the anime if they adapt it like I think they will 26:31 Many miss the fact that Washijo WAS a ballboy, everything he knows comes from all those years, instead of quitting he stuck as a ball boy to at least be a part of it, he knows more than anyone just how useful being a ball boy is
The fact that him sneaking up into the camp is embarrassing is even more incredible for me. Hinata himself knows it best how embarrassing that it, more than anyone and yet still does it only shows how much is he willing to do to not stay behind, to continuously grow and get better. Man, volleyball is his life in all kind of aspects. He's taking it way more serious than anybody else there and it shows how mature emotionally and mentally he is compared to people his age while standing up front and confronting everyone about the fact that he's just a ball boy. For me, he's fucking goated and most people could only dream to have that kind of mentality, it really takes a lot.
Dude, Hinata is such an inspiration till the very last chapter he's such a go-getter with an unending need/want/resolve to be better! 27:19 you'd be surprised to see Oikawa's reaction to the new and improved Hinata
I was surprised to learn that some fans don't like the ballboy's arc. I love this arc and how it shows Hinata's evolution not only in her skills, but she also evolves mentally. And it also shows his incredible emotional intelligence in dealing with other characters and their personalities. 🧡
Just a little fun fact since they were talking about it but I saw on a point spreadsheet that Ushijima scored 36 points against Karasuno, and that's only on camera points. Shiratorizawa as a team scored 125 points, 74 of which was shown on camera, so I can only imagine how much points Ushiwaka really scored lmao
For Hinata as he never got to learn the basics this is the best opportunity for him to evolve. He grabbed it coz he knew he needed to get better and the team training were limiting him no matter how embarrassing that was, only the people who go for it reach so far in life and that's what makes these types different from us regular peeps.
Funny story, I started writing a Haikyuu fanfiction after season 3 in which my OC is a tennis player and she teaches one of the Haikyuu boys the split step. Then season 4 started coming out and I watched this episode and was like, NO WAY 😂
Its basically finding a balance between Oikawa telling Kageyama "are you giving your spikers the sets they want" and his old tyrant way of setting for what the spikers *should* be doing. In response to his dejection in middle school Kageyama's defaulted to just making things comfortable for the spikers but sometimes he needs to challenge the spikers to do better.
@DNeonLamp thank you for explaining! 🩵 i suddenly remember the upcoming episodes especially when they came back from the training. i think that it's necessary for him to realize and to every one in Karasuno volleyball team because the other teams from nationals are different in skills, experience and etc.
"Goody two shoes" he said it coz Kageyama unlike his past, is now taking in consideration of the other players and trying to fit in the wishes of others like for ex- him making adjustments for the different spikers and doing it perfectly basically him putting in most of the work. That's coz he is scared of what happened in his past where he wanted others to do what he says which led to him sitting on the bench and lose the game. He doesn't want a repeat of that so he changed 180° and now became a goody two shoes which atsumo observed and told him in a rude way. The thing is Kageyama needs to find balance and doesn't need to go for either extreme. This is my understanding of it.
@@Snowhite-tx4sm thank you for explaining! 😲 im enlightened by your explanation @DNeonLamp and @Snowhite-tx4sm. yea, his past actions really gave him a huge impact. nothing against Atsumo but it's a bit rude, weird and confusing way to say hahaha. i think Kageyama really struggle in communicating well. that's why I appreaciated what Brocolli #2 said to him
Ball boy arc is such an amazing arc! but the ones coming up after is even better! The art style is sloppier but it makes for better smoother animation when needed
1:10 same carter, same! i don't remember myself feeling cringe, embarrassed, or anything when i was watching hinata sneaking for the first time. maybe a little bit, idk it just past me, but not like many other fans for sure 😂 but i do understand how others feel so cringe and embarrassed with that
Nishinoya was so good looking guy but now... 🥺 I wanna cry when I look at him! 😭 He's one of my favorite characters and It's so painful look at him in 4th season! 💔 He looks super strange! 😭
15:46 you just watch the last episode of season 3. It's in full view in there. I think that's why they didn't show it in this episode, it's in the past now, and the only person who saw that was the assistant coach and its his perspective, didn't have to show it all. Give more to the scene.
The ball boy arc is the phase where you will begin to understand how amazing Hinata's emotional intelligence is.

Don't worry he does learn tricks here but they aren't shown as explicitly as Hinata's, the sad thing is, they may not emphasis this later on the anime if they adapt it like I think they will
26:31 Many miss the fact that Washijo WAS a ballboy, everything he knows comes from all those years, instead of quitting he stuck as a ball boy to at least be a part of it, he knows more than anyone just how useful being a ball boy is
they did.. just recently uploaded it there..
@@yusriyarofifahalimah1805 Thanks, I was worried, as much as I don't like hoe they adapted Land vs Air, they are important
Koganegawa joining Hinata to stare at Kunimi always gets me xD
Love re-reading that part. I miss them already hahahaha
@lscucumber1269 it really was such a good little part of the story
Fun fact: the VA for itachiyama's libero is thorfin from vinland
That move I learned from Prince of Tennis the Split Step.
8:44 I love coach 🥰
Everytime atsumu comes on the screen , i hear the music
The player next to Asahi in their practice match is Narita, remember he also checked in when Tsuki got injured and had to leave.
Atsumu and Korai 🥶🔥
Ok but I almost cry again at that last high pass, what a great moment
Hinata’s personality is so adorable lol I love him!
U have to watch “land vs air” OVA before this pls guyssssssssssssss
Yes, I was praying yall would post today 😅
For Hinata as he never got to learn the basics this is the best opportunity for him to evolve. He grabbed it coz he knew he needed to get better and the team training were limiting him no matter how embarrassing that was, only the people who go for it reach so far in life and that's what makes these types different from us regular peeps.
I just watched your last 2 haikyuu reaction and you guys uploaded new one ❤
Funny story, I started writing a Haikyuu fanfiction after season 3 in which my OC is a tennis player and she teaches one of the Haikyuu boys the split step. Then season 4 started coming out and I watched this episode and was like, NO WAY 😂
The all japan camp is introducing some peak characters for the future. You won't forget them!!!
あつむー!!!!!
1番好きな稲荷崎戦もうすぐだ🤭
The ball boy arc brings tears to my eyes
Atsumu my boiiii 🍙
the 'goody two shoes' still confuses me HAHAHAH
Oh the pay off for this arc is going to be legendary.
1:10 same carter, same! i don't remember myself feeling cringe, embarrassed, or anything when i was watching hinata sneaking for the first time. maybe a little bit, idk it just past me, but not like many other fans for sure 😂 but i do understand how others feel so cringe and embarrassed with that
I LOBEE YOU GUYS SO QUICK CRYING
25:24 good analogy 😂
Honestly just waiting for them to get through this training arc for obvious reasons lol
Atsumu has the same VA as Light and Chrollo and the one with white hair has the same as Tanjiro and Falco 😀
every sport do split step. it make you reduce your reaction time for movement
18:47 I also thought of that, lol. 😅
I want you guys to watch the actual Japanease high school volleyball
18:40 my man 😍 (one of many actually but who counts?)
Please reaction to violet evergarden series, this is a sad anime probably
Brigg how's your health?
guys please react to OVA 4-5 it's about Tokyo schools elimination to nationals
atsumu my husband that's right LOL
Finally!
continue .. ples
The first half of season 4 animation is not bad a change from the other season but the second half it gets really bad and I hate it
the white haired guy in the japan camp is a little giant just like Hinata
🎉🎉🎉
Yep. Old Man Washijo hates small players because he didn't get to play as a small player. Ball boy arc is the best!
First
FYI by the end of the series Hinata is the most balanced player
what i mean by balance is he he can do anything
why are you spoiling? just delete it
they hate those kind of comments
Ok casual spoilers??
we just straight up spoiling now
I fucking hate this comment section
