  • This is a demonstration of what 1.5 years of growth look like for many of specimen plants in my carnivorous plant collection. Across the genus of species and hybrids, Nepenthes will display different growth speeds. This is apparent in many of the examples.

    That is great content. I started to follow your channel one year after sowing hybrid lowland seeds. It is 2,5 years now and they are growing much more than I expected. You got me buying a tent for them. Will be set up soon.🙂👍

    Really interesting that a plant not pitchering can still make a flower 😮 Nice video by the way!

    Loved the hybrids with ventricosa genes cause it's a little speedy & adaptable to a lowland environment.

      For sure! Ventricosa hybrids make some really nice and reliable plants. Thanks for watching!

    Hey Josh I had a question for you do you acclimate your plants because they told me to do that with my nepethes ventricosa and my nepethes ventricosa x sibuyanensis and now they're not even growing

    • @joshscarnivorousplants6732
      @joshscarnivorousplants6732  10 месяцев назад

      After you get a plant, it's a good idea to bag acclimate it by placing the plant in a plastic bag and slowly open it more and more over the span of 2 weeks. Nepenthes tend to be slow growers compared to other plants so maybe you haven't been watching it long enough?

    This was a really interesting idea, especially like it seems no 2 grow the same, and not all flower. What would cause some leaves to not make pitchers? Thank you for making this! 🌱😊🌿

      @joshscarnivorousplants6732  Год назад

      Good question! A pitcher plant not making a pitcher could mean a few things. The most common reason is the humidity is too low and it needs to be raised or the plant needs to slowly acclimate. Another is a repot could be tough on the plant and could stop pitchering for a while as it recovers. Of course, the plant could have pests or it's just in a mood and that could inhibit that kind of growth as well.
      Thanks for watching!

    i have a question ok so i am growing a nepenthes and some pitchers are growing fast but one of them is growing extremely slow and I'm confused its been ages and its still tiny

    • @joshscarnivorousplants6732
      @joshscarnivorousplants6732  11 месяцев назад +1

      Nepenthes grow at different speeds. Some can be fast some can be slow. But sometimes pitchers just don't inflate at all if the plant is stressed for some reason or conditions aren't right.

  • @Random21455
    @Random21455 Год назад

    do some pitchers grow backwards or is it a different type

    • @joshscarnivorousplants6732
      @joshscarnivorousplants6732  Год назад

      Typically the pitcher faces either towards the leaf/tendril ~90° to it for lower pitchers most of the time. Upper pitchers face away from the tendril/leaf

      @@joshscarnivorousplants6732 ok so my nepenthes is ever dead or something happened ok so I used to wake up every morning to the pitcher growing like a inch or 2 now its just stopped and it hasn't grown an inch for 1 week now should I be worried or is it normal

    • @joshscarnivorousplants6732
      @joshscarnivorousplants6732  Год назад

      That seems like pretty fast grown for a smaller plant, if it is small. It normally takes upwards of a month for a pitcher to grow, so I wouldn't be worried
