Looks like a nice unit and the self cleaning feature makes your life easier. Keeps you from having to pull the filter and cleaning them out. At $300 it is less than half the cost of a Festool of the same size. Great job guys
I would be tempted to get this over Festool Extractor just for cost reasons. The only thing is I love how Festool organizes everything plus they have that cool European look:)
I have its big brother.... Was using it with a dust shroud while cleaning concrete. Great vac. One issue I had was when the filters cycle, the slightest bit of dust is exhausted out the back. After grinding 1,000 sq ft of thinset, the house still had a FINE layer of dust. Gonna try to test it with some 90 min mud under a black light.
That looks like a nice vac. Like Eric, I like that it cleans the filters. Looks like it worked great with that saw. I may have to look into a vacuum soon, can you do a couple more vacuum reviews from other companies and maybe a comparison. You guys always help with my buying decisions. I had to use someone else's drill last night and I was so thankful that you guys convinced me to get a Milwaukee one. I swear I would have saved 10 minutes or more if I had my drill, with the speed it can drill and the time it took to go and get another battery (back in the garage while working in the house), mine seem to last forever.
This model appears to be aimed toward dust collection. You have any idea how it performs with a sander? Or when cutting MDF in miter saw or table saw. Ultimately just trying to find out if the self cleaning filters work well enough to maintain suction for a long period of time when working with fine particles in applications such as those. Also does the positive locking hose only work with dewalt tools? If so, do they offer any attachments to allow for use with tools made by different manufacturers?
I'm on a job right now where the floors are getting ground on where it makes a lot of dust and they are all using De-Walt vacuums they seem to be working very well at keeping the dust down and there is like 4 people grinding at once.
How well does it plug into the 744 table saw. That connection looks the same size as the dust port. I have been using my Rigid shop vacs for years tied into my 2 table saws but you need to turn them on every time. So I really want one with an Auto switch.
Nice Vacuum! I like the auto turn on when plugged in to tool, but it's the dust you can't see hanging in the air that will kill you in wood working. That sucks.
Tools In Action Fein's dust extractor does the same thing same with Festool, Bosch, Makita, also have models with auto filter clean. Did I forget anyone with dust extractors?
I'm going to be looking for a replacement for my crappy old shop-vac pretty soon. This one will be considered when I begin to do my brand comparison. The Dewalt seems to have just about everything I would need. Thanx for the review guys.
Hey I just saw on the tool forum, that over in Europe they have a vac rack that goes on this vac I believe that allows u to connect the tstaks to it. U just remove top handle.
Great video guys. I am really liking these Dewalt vacs, the self cleaning filters are nice and the connectors. I had to buiid a Thien dust separator for my shop vac to keep the filter from getting clogged.
I really want a dust extractor vac. How would you guys say the noise is on this unit? It seemed to have a really high pitch to it. Does it have a muffler on it like some vacuums? It's a sweet unit I know its really hard to get an accurate test of how loud a tool is over a video compression and how microphones pick up noise can really throw off what could be a something not nearly as loud. I also like you can buy a rack to put a few Dewalt T-Stacks on the vac just like Festool. You can use your vac to move tools. Dust collection vacuums are the future with auto clean. It's almost mandatory now with the rules about removing led pain one inspection by the EPA and OSHA and its doing to be a really bad day for you and your business. Besides the fact no one likes government bureaucracy breathing in that fine material is just not good for anyone's lungs. Who wants to have to carry the iron lung an oxygen tank when they are in their 50/60's over something avoidable. This would be a nice thing to add to this UTB from Dewalt they haven't added anything to the pot yet. Wow I typed a small story with this comment sorry guys busy day and was just in that typing stream of though kind of mood tonight.
Tools In Action I hope Dewalt does decide to add one to the UTB. It's a really cool tool but could really use some serious promotion. I don't think the average Joe knows much better this is over a wet/dry vac!
That's a good point. People will just think of it as a wet/dry vac. Lead paint is a big deal and this small size hepa vaccum could be very useful and easy to take onto scaffoldings and everything
MrInsaini The only thing is they need to have some sort of remote if you use a cordless tool with the dust extractor it works great with corded tools, but they need some kind of cordless system to turn the vac on when you might be using a cordless tool. I'm sure that's not a huge concern yet for most people right now.
love this, like the tool actuated operation, my Ridgid doesn't have that feature but then it's usually on higher end vacuums...I might just have to somehow break my Ridgid so the wife will allow me to buy a new vacuum...hmmm normally I'm dead against intentionally abusing my tools but sometimes needs must!!...lol
Good luck on breaking a Ridgid they are tanks. I would explain that they are meant for two different things the Ridgid is for demo work, who knows what kind of nastiness, sucking up nasty water and that kind of stuff. Where the Dewalt Dust extractor is when your building and finishing to keep things as clean as possible.
DarkRaptor99 yeah you're not wrong there DR, the Ridgid is built to last...guess I would always ask for the DeWalt for Christmas...lol, can't have too many vac's!!
looks like a great dust extractor I'm needing some kind of dust collection for my shop but I think I'm going to go with the cheap Harbor Freight dust collector because I need something bigger and it has good reviews. If i was in the market for something smaller I sure would go with the DeWalt DWV010. TIA
Whats the deal with Milwaukee's vacuums are they any good? The way they look makes them look ancient do they compare well with what other companies are building now? I don't think I have ever seen a review on a Milwaukee vacuum. You guys need push Milwaukee pr on that. I have to imagine they would like to offer a more competitive system soon. It's a growing market. Also the M18 cordless vac needs a Fuel version update soon!
Tools In Action I would love too see that happen so bad. I really want a new cordless/corded vacuum like Dewalt has on the 20v. Sometimes I wish I kept some Dewalt batteries and a charger around after I went too Milwaukee.
Hey guys great video I got that hammerhead that thing is really nice gonna give it to my dad for Christmas as he just saw it at lowes and wanted it so bad!!
I like it a lot, but I like most people can't afford 3 to 500 hundred bucks for a vacuum when I can pick up a Ridgid for less than quarter of the price. Still I wish I could afford it because it looks like it would have more consistent air flow and possibly have a longer life. Thanks for the review.
this hepa rrp is only required for dangerous dusts like lead paint and maybe asbestos cleaning...if you working with something not dangerous go for a cheap.
Pretty impressive circular saw guys! Although I'm not quite sold on it yet, can you show us some shots of it cutting some stuff? Lol but this is a really impressive looking vaccum, beats the hell outta my little Shop-Vac.
Not at all. Watch a really well done video that compares eight different brands of Dust Extractors and learn that the DeWalt came in LAST of all them. (Look for a head-2-head video on you Tube. That's a USEFUL and well done Video that took them a full month to tape, and that gives a TRUTHFUL evaluation of 8 models, without all the loyalty to the yellow brand bullsh*t.
HEPA vacs are pricy. For general cleaning there's no need for one, and for what they demonstrated doing in this video...I wouldn't bother. I have a 5gal Shop-Vac with the more powerful motor - when I connect it to a tool like a saw or sander, I just tape the hose to the dust collection port. Where a HEPA vac becomes worthwhile is in applications where it's critical to keep dust from coming out of the vacuum, like in lead remediation - which is why this model is labeled 'HEPA/RRP'. RRP refers to the EPA's Renovation Repair and Painting rules about lead-safe work practices. Presumably asbestos remediation uses HEPA vacs in cleanup as well, but I don't have anything to do with asbestos.
I commited the serious mistake of buying a DeWalt... mine failed after only using it twice (the damn vacuum fails to start when i power-up any tool pluged into the now useless outlet. I've compared it to a VERY OLD home vacuum by Rainbow, that my late mother left me and that still Works perfectly. That vacuum is probably more than 60 years old now. The vacuum level is about the same, and the air flow is unbelievably LESS than the old vacuum!!! But my most hated fact is that its performance is mediocre and it was not inexpensive. Watch the excellent video on You-tube that compares 8 dust extractors Head-2-Head and learn that the DeWalt came in LAST of all them.
Biggest gripes with most vacs...hose pulling out, hose too short, filter clogging and crappy casters. Fixed, fixed, fixed and fixed! Thank you Dewalt.
I'm not a huge dewalt fan but after hearing all the features on this vacuum I'm going to pick it up. Thanks TIA.
Well, please read my comment above and learn to beware on alleged DeWalt's "quality"...
Looks like a nice unit and the self cleaning feature makes your life easier. Keeps you from having to pull the filter and cleaning them out. At $300 it is less than half the cost of a Festool of the same size. Great job guys

After grinding 1,000 sq ft of thinset, the house still had a FINE layer of dust. Gonna try to test it with some 90 min mud under a black light.
Hmm, with fresh filters and the bag installed?
Vac was pretty much brand new. Had used it a few times for some saw dust. Didn't use a HEPA bag, just had the black poly bags in it.
That looks like a nice vac. Like Eric, I like that it cleans the filters. Looks like it worked great with that saw. I may have to look into a vacuum soon, can you do a couple more vacuum reviews from other companies and maybe a comparison. You guys always help with my buying decisions. This unit may do a better job at keeping the filters from clogging, but my old Craftsman shop vac makes this one look really weak in suction power!
This model appears to be aimed toward dust collection. You have any idea how it performs with a sander? Or when cutting MDF in miter saw or table saw. Ultimately just trying to find out if the self cleaning filters work well enough to maintain suction for a long period of time when working with fine particles in applications such as those. but how does it work with drywall dust...fine concrete dust...the kind of thing that you need a hepa filter for?
You guys should see if you can get one of those mounts for the TSTAK to stack on top of the vacuum. I'm curious how well it works.
How well does it plug into the 744 table saw. That connection looks the same size as the dust port. I have been using my Rigid shop vacs for years tied into my 2 table saws but you need to turn them on every time. So I really want one with an Auto switch.
Great idea with the locking system for the hoses.
I'd love to have one like this for work. Medical installs and anchoring equipment to concrete. Lot of hammer drill dust.
Nice Vacuum! I like the auto turn on when plugged in to tool, but it's the dust you can't see hanging in the air that will kill you in wood working. That sucks.
Is that the only vacuum on the market that cleans out the filters?
no
Tools In Action Fein's dust extractor does the same thing same with Festool, Bosch, Makita, also have models with auto filter clean. Did I forget anyone with dust extractors?
Tools In Action Oh ok. I didn't know that. Thanks!
Didn't even show the controls, demo of the features or anything. Great product but a greasy poop of a review.
I love the quick lock adapter. I need that on my shop vac. Hose always pops out!
What dust extraction would you recommend for dewalt table saw?
(not enough space for industrial/shop extraction)
I love this vac. Great size and great features. I'll keep an eye out for a deal on this one.
Great video guys. I am really liking these Dewalt vacs, the self cleaning filters are nice and the connectors. I had to buiid a Thien dust separator for my shop vac to keep the filter from getting clogged.

I don't think it has a muffler. hmm Ill see if I can get one for the UTBG
Tools In Action I hope Dewalt does decide to add one to the UTB. It's a really cool tool but could really use some serious promotion. I don't think the average Joe knows much better this is over a wet/dry vac!

Nice, Was just saying the other day that need a good vacuum, this one looks like its going to be it
Thats A Nice Vac! Not Too Bulky And Nice Wheels.
We forget to mention the wheels, they are heavy duty
that look like it works good and i need to buy a new shop vac do you know a another good brand and were to get they

Their vacs need updating

Really nice looking vacuum guys I need this for my garage badly!! Thanks for the review guys!!! T.I.A!!
Hey guys great video I got that hammerhead that thing is really nice gonna give it to my dad for Christmas as he just saw it at lowes and wanted it so bad!!
Not in stock around me yet.

I wish they could make a bag that stays on, and doesn't split, and reusable would be nice.....
sounds and looks like a great vacuum

Monday night Tools In Action!!....woohoo!!
Does the quick lock adapt to different sized dust chutes? Nice looking vac, looks like it was doing a good job with the saw going.
You can get a adapter for most any connection
Yeah I heard that scanner isn't good.
I like the end on that hose, hmmm
Well since you already have a big one should I email you tools@social???
Any way to connect this www.rockler.com/dust-right-universal-small-port-hose-kit to the dewalt dust extractor?
Ari Menachem Yes, you can get an adapter from DeWALT that will fit those. I think if I remember correctly it comes with one.
Tools In Action can i attach dewalts proprietary connectors directly to the hose? its a 1-1/2" id hose. Thanks for your help
i agree dewalt is consistent in quality, respectable company
It just doesn’t have as much suction power as my inexpensive Lowe’s shop-vac dose...for over four times the price!

I own one, and it doesn’t work as well as my $50 shop vac from Lowe’s!
Hey Buddy,
Want don't You like about it ?
Got me wondering, I just bought one, but haven't used it yet . Please Advise, Thank You
I commited the serious mistake of buying a DeWalt... mine failed after only using it twice (the damn vacuum fails to start when i power-up any tool pluged into the now useless outlet.
