That was really historically interesting. Of course over here, when they teach us ancient Rome/Roman Empire in school we never hear about them ruling England. I have heard more im my adult years about Hedrens Wall & old Roman Baths that are still supposed to exist over there, but I guess I never stopped to think that there would have been temples built there during those times. I guess I just always pictured it mostly men of military action & rule. So very fascinating!!! Would love to learn more Richard!
Don't you look young Mr Vobes - great video, I run for the local running club in Lancing and this is our usual route during the summer months and had no idea about this :)
Hi Richard, The footpath you where on is actually an iron age path that runs from what would have been a forging point down on the river and up to cisbury ring via stepdown, the temple was just about where you pointed it out, as a teenager i use to metal detect the area up and around lancing ring and found three roman coins in a spill just before you reach the ring by the side of the path, these helped confirm the date of the temple which had been excavated about 2 years prior. The windmill that you mention stood to the east of the chalk pit which which is to the east of the car park.
@@RichardVobes Richard Vobes maybe you should redo this walk sometime (post lockdown of course) & take narfit1966 with you. He sounds very knowledgeable on this subject & sight & I would love to hear an extended vid on!😀👍
When you said "excavated", that was the kiss of death for me. Mad and or junior "Scientists" come along to a site, turn it over and remove all interesting objects then go away without thought for their successors. No sign to say "Roman Temple woz 'ere". They just take away their findings and leave no indicators for us plebs. I'm sure they get their funding grants to go and wreck other sites.

Where’s your trademark jacket Richard? Nicely shot, I like the way it’s not all filmed with the camera stick.
Kevin Agent It was pre-Bald Explorer and of course the daily uploads when I had more time.
I'm glad that you have passed the eye disease well. At the beginning of the film I thought, is this richard?
Juergen Taddicken Yes I know what you mean. I was almost unrecognisable!
