same, the environment looks awful on my ipad but the traversal/exploration and combat is soooo much fun i don't even care. being able to kill a 120 level bear with my level 40 encore was so funny too lmfao

but increase the brightness in your ipad settings
the color becomes a bit more saturated and try going to the graphics settings and turn off anything that has "volumetric" in its name, these causes some semi fog effect which sucks on smaller screens

My fav part of the game so far. I’m not super far past that point, and the English VAs are on the lackluster side and the story is kinda meh so far. But everything about scar and that scene was really good

I have to say I really enjoy the combat in this game! Like… actual dodge mechanics? Not being able to rely on shields to just brute force everything like I do in Genshin? Echoes that are actually so cool and fun to collect? I like this I’m getting challenged!
Yea the story might be a bit rocky, and the va work is a little less than good for some characters, but I’m ok with that, it’s a new game and I’m not expecting it to be perfect! It’s got a lot going for it!

@@date5960 that’s assuming I’ve ever hit endgame in a game like this 😂 I’m a casual game player and have yet to even hit any sort of endgame for Genshin so I probably never will with wuwa either
@@sootekken Omg same lol i feel you 😅 i'm a casual player and i've been wondering how it feels to hit end game in games like this. I'm too lazy to grind and bulldoze through. I tried to do it but lost motivation and gave up halfway lol. Now i just go at it slow. Minmaxing never seems enjoyable for me. I still build characters but i never take it seriously.
I've only played a few hours but I do like the gameplay, the story is kinda meh at first, but the one thing that turns me off is some of the english va's. Not saying they're bad, they just feel a little bland.
Plus, is it me, or does the dialogue flip flop between ending too quickly or taking too long to conclude?
I think the issue is not the voice actors, but the awkward directing, because most of the ones that felt awkward in game sounded much more natural reading their lines in the introduction videos on the livestream
The biggest thing is that they got british VAs to do american accents and it shoows..

My game crashed every 2 minutes so I had 5o use my sisters old Ipad it took me 2 hours for me to beg so much she gave it to me and yes I just really wanted to annoy her my English is bad

@joyce239 I think you can try. I tried that for Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. But I didn't have enough storage for them, sadly. If your laptop stoarge can handle Wuthering Waves. You can try.

I am now Union 41, Data Bank 20, done with story and exploration sidequests, cleared all Milestones, now doing random sidequests. Encore main.
People keep complaining about the game but it’s literally the 1.0 version of it. PGR wasn’t that good in the beginning either but now it’s amazing so I’m sure that the devs will fix things and the story will pop off in a patch or two. Can’t wait!
Yeah idk why anyone expects much from 1.0 patches
Most Gacha games have a rough start, in fact the only Gacha game I've seen with basically no launch issues was Honkai Star Rail

I agree with the VA thing. mostly because they don't seem to be comfortable in speaking in American English.
Also yangyang with her saying Huanglong sounded like she struggled with speaking it in a sentence so they decided to just record it separately lol

@@Syiepherze Possibly, but to me it sounds like it's been recorded separately and just slapped whenever it came up on the script
for people that will complain about the story (which is happening a lot) the beginning, the prologue is a lot of world exposition yes but it gets better once Scar is introduced, the best chapters so far are the newest ones (the ones that weren't available in the closed betas) which are chapter 5 & 6 those two chapters are good. But you'll need the other chapters to understand the story

I love the artstyle, I love the character design, I do like the combat, but the biggest turn off for me is the over-explanation of everything.
Like it's just a few minutes into the game and they already hit you with sooooooooooo much explanations and in-game terms that it gets confusing. They need to practice; Show dont tell. Like I don't want to skip the dialogues, I don't mind long dialogues if they're structured and paced correctly. Yet most of the time, the dialogues are filled with too much padding.
I really want to like the game and make it like a 2nd game that I can play after Star Rail..... but as of now, I like ToF more than Wuwa.
Edit: Scar's voice acting and design is currently my favorite thing in the game.
Edit: Im genuinely surprised and glad that I haven't really getting hate for stating this. I was afraid I was going to get trash talked for this haha
Edit: I finally managed to reach the end of the current story quest. And I gotta say, it does get better in terms of storytelling. There are still some overexplaining here and there, but not as outrageous as before. Voice acting also got quite better, but there are still some noticeable dip in quality. Overall, glad I kept playing.
100% agree with you. The story is so hard to get through because it's so bloated with terms. This is coming from somebody who actively enjoys and seeks lore- maybe not enough to read every book but I keep up with a decent bit of lore in both Genshin and HSR- and while some could say it's unfair to compare this game with the two; they also made the similarities so obvious that it's difficult to keep the comparisons apart. I try to avoid skipping through the dialogue as much as I can but the "tell, don't show" style is physically paining me so much along with the poor English voice directing. It's difficult to get invested in the characters too because they feel that poorly done in terms of story/voice.
Besides that, I think the combat and exploration is great. If somebody only cares about that, then I would recommend it to them 100%. But personally, I'm with you- I can't stand with the game rn. Much rather put my hours into HSR and Genshin; I think there's definitely a lot of things they did right and it's a good foundation.. lets just hope the writers can cook up something interesting.
I guess its hard to actually show it when its mostly about secrets and stuff like our past story and identity. It'll be awhile for kuro to get use to i guess since they're moving from a hack and slash where the story is basically for the majority are dialogues. They need to find that balance. Well I still prefer lore related dialogues compared to the nonsense talking in genshin, especially when paimon is yapping
the story gets better once Scar is introduced, the best chapters as of right now are chapter 5 & 6 which are the newest chapters which weren't available in the closed beta, you'll need the world exposition from the other chapters to understand what's going on tho, without giving spoilers, major war, beautiful cutscenes
I found that the story really picked up with the introduction to Scar. The start to most Gachas stories aren't the best really, especially when names and places are in a different language. Like the start of Hi3 is still a major slog to get through and the start of Genshin I found to be really "meh".
The first couple of hours was definitely carried by the gameplay tho.
@@symphonixblades I absolutely love Scar. His voice acting is top tier, especially when compared to the rest of the characters. I'm still giving the game a chance, since it's still in its early phase.
I played far enough to get pulls and I love it so far. It's really pretty. My only critique is that dialogue gets cut off with the autoplay feature. Hopefully this is something that will get fixed. Otherwise so far a 10/10 for me, especially since I can use a controller 😁
Yeah and if playing in JP etc the subtitles don't scroll on PC so you can't read all the dialog. The game feels incredible to play though, love the world design, combat and movement so much.

Really love this game started it as soon as I woke up yesterday and oh god I am hocked loving everything about it especially the characters good so happy the UK did the English voice lines cause it nice wwhen dubbing give them a chance

The combat, exploration, mobility, and mini games are way better than genshin for me

Honestly, its a 7/10 for me. The combat, traversal, open world and character designs are stellar. The combat especially is fast paced and unique from Genshin.
But the bugs, optimisation issues and high system requirements really hold it down.
The music is a hit or miss, mostly a miss. It just lacks that unique hook or rhythm that im accustomed to, especially the overwolrd combat music. But when it hits, it hits hard!! Especially the boss music.
The story is kinda meh. The pacing is too slow and theres way too much info dumping this early. I also dislike how the entire cast just worships the ground the Rover walks on without then doing anything to earn it or even if they did, it was the bare minimum. The excessive level of praise turned me off quite a bit. The story only really starts to pick off once Scar comes onto the scene.
The Localization needs a lot of work, especially the direction in the voice acting. Yangyang sounds especially monotone and dull. The other VAs are okay though and Jiyan and Scar's VA are top notch.
Honestly, the best way to describe this game is that of a unpolished gem. There's something incredible underneath a lot of dirt that needs to be cleared up. Given how honest and transparent Kuro has been about feedback, ive no doubt that they'll do everything to fix this. But just how much of goodwill they've missed with this bad first impression remains to be seen. If they really want to get to the level of Hoyos games, theyll need to step up with cooking their characters, design, music and especially story.
You'll probably get hate for this but 100% agree with everything stated also just to add, the way they did the connection was horrible I'm genuinely surprised, the amount of times I've gotten "Connection Error" or Reconnecting is insane and my wifi isn't the greatest but damm man.
Well to be fair to it, both the bugs and awkward prologue is common when a new game like this is released. The game hasn’t ever had this many people playing it at once so it’s going to happen. Personally in my like 10 hours of playtime so far I’ve not encountered any bugs at all! Awkward prologue is kinda standard for these kinds of games, in my opinion Genshin and TOF also suffer from it (TOF a lot more so) not saying that it’s not a valid criticism, but it’s also something to consider if you’re wanting to compare.
Optimization and the size of the game is a given honestly for how good it looks on PC, even on my phone I’ve gotten it to look great, and it’s been released with a decently sized map already, so I can completely understand the size
The localization could use some work as some dialogue is awkward and long winded, I really think that they did the VAs a disservice by making some of them fake an American accent, and some VAs seem less experienced than others, but the story does really pick up once you get past the beginning! I’m sure these are all things that can be ironed out the longer the game is out

And the scenes with Camellya, Scar's boss fight, Jiyan are balls to the walls crazy. Honestly, I think they really should go for that dark, edgy, almost unhinged way of storytelling to really distinguish itself from it's competitors. The first few acts were a slog to get through and felt so cliched, like it literally gave me Genshin Monstadt flashbacks but with the diabetes up to eleven. I literally rolled my eyes around Lingyang's story because it was almost a carbon cutout of a typical early Genshin story quest; like absolutely cliched finding lost person, solving a problem with good morals kind of story.
It's amazing how much I started enjoying the story once they giving a rat's ass about the happy go lucky tone and shifted to a darker more unhinged one. I really hope Kuro keeps shifting the tone to a darker one because my god, that was freaking good.
Dude, first hour getting in WuWa (i joined right at release) its turning me off, i could enter for the love of god im moving 2 frame per seconds💀🙏 me going to the city is a big achievement, they still didnt do anything or at least they tries, but i still cant do, and theres annoying bug that always says "youre in already open the game, you cant open it" or something like that, even though i already alt+f4 the damn launcher and the game😢
Its very scuffed opening i might say, because... sorry for comparing but; Genshin first release theres barely any bugs, only funny hahs bugs found, i can still play Genshin like normal, few stutters because of potato, but its still playable

@@liandoaethend2403 so i had very similar issues to you, i uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. And it fixed all the sisues. Now i havent had any problems
Now that you said it no wonder why I keep feeling like the voicing was off. They did very well with the accent but felt kinda forced somehow.

As someone who adores the FFXIV VA squad, I really wish Kuro Games just let these folks keep their accents. That's just my impression after watching the VOD though. I played through the story quests listening to the JP dub. It's just a personal preference even though my fluency is barely kindergarten level. Besides, I am already preparing to simp for whoever character Miyuki Sawashiro will eventually voice for. 😉

The game is really nice, combat mechanics are smooth, the enemies are good, some characters are a little bit boring but the majority are very nice. The bugs are comprehensible, every game in launch have them. Hope they fix those bugs as soon as possible

Like, it all looks decent, alright, like if I tried the thing that would probably be enough to convince me to stay for a little while.

No, that's understandable.
I think the word you're looking for is "trademark." By this, I mean, "what sets this game apart/makes it memorable?"
For example, Genshin's elemental reaction system has yet to be seen in any other gacha game, which sets it apart for the time being. Based on my observation, WuWa's "trademark" is the monster mimicry system used for a plethora of things in-game. However, it's not yet outstanding enough to leave a lasting impression.
[EDIT: Another upcoming game, "Azur Promilia" has a similar mechanic of monsters used for combat and exploration, but this one is still a ways away.]
@@patrickcarter2829 Yeah that's pretty much what I mean. Although I also like scenario, lore and worldbuilding a lot, also character interactions. All things that I find are bland here.
I mean the game is still in its early stage, perhaps it will become very good in a few.
For me it's like 'oh it's another genshin.' In terms of world exploration I mean. I was surprised that some puzzles are actually similar as well. Like the hitting in order. Even the point of interest pictures lol.
Story wise I guess we will see down the line.
Combat wise, it's fun. Defo different than genshin. I like both of them tbh.
I'll still play it for now and see if I do want to keep playing it.

VA is definitely off and syncing is weird, but it’ll all get fixed eventually. People worry about the smallest stuff and overlook everything else. If you’re not satisfied go play your mini games in GI

I am visually-impaired so the combat is really difficult for me but I wanna keep playing. I hope they won't make it too hard. A sound when I need to dodge or parry would be helpful but until then I watch RUclipsrs to learn if there are tricks if you don't have the skill.

I am LOVING the gameplay even if there are things that could improve but it's only the 1.0 release and they had to rush it a bit. Though I had to switch it to JP cause the english dub is awful for some of the characters. Glad i did since Calcharo's JP VA voices sephiroth!

I've played honkai star rail and genshin and wasn't a huge fan and I'm not sure why but I do like withering waves for some reason
I really want to play the game and I have the game but it's not good on the phone. It lags and freezes for long periods of time and voicelines get cut off randomly. It also takes a long time for the game to load and ughhhh I love the content ive seen and I would be immersed in the story if it didnt fail on me sm 😭 I hope it becomes compatible on phones soon

I lost 50/50 to Encore and got her again in the beginner at 50 pulls.

tbh its great game but it does fall off once you reached 14 but it becomes pretty good once around lvl 20 and one of the gamemode is super fun to put it simply its Elysian Realm. one character and tons of buff for it its super fun
Pretty much the SU equivalent in HSR. Where you get to select different buffs, except you only get one character instead of a team.

30 minutes in and this game's art style is beautiful, the combat looks interesting and more involved than I thought, but the world building is so..... Weird.
I enjoy video game lore(which I know is unpopular nowadays) but the introduction to new players is so jarring when a game just dumps a bunch of loaded phrases or fancy in-game jargon on you all at once and just keeps going.
I don't know about anyone else, but when a game throws a bunch of lore based phrases at you as if you're supposed to know what they're talking about. It kinda breaks immersion for me because I'm still trying to digest the previous information, meanwhile they're still trying to cram new information down your throat. I personally don't like that because it's a lot to unpack and it will be a little while before you can make heads or tails of any of it, usually until there's a lull where new information is not being thrown at you.
It reminds me of a rough experience I had with Xenoblade Chronicles X (that almost made me never want to try out any of their games.)
Story isn't amazing but I can't stop playing.

I really hate all of these "VA's suck" or VA's stupid" comments. If you really think that you can do a better job then reach out to Kuro games and audition to replace them but there better not be a single word about getting hate towards your voice acting skills. Really grinds my gears because there is probabaly not a single VA out there that didn't start somewhere and i find it horrendously hypocritical that all of these comments are happening in the comment section of an eglish VA who most definitely had a first that was not as good as his current.
No the voice acting is just isn’t good in English…people are allowed to criticize them but I do also agree that they shouldn’t call the VA dumb or suck bc they genuinely are good at voice acting. It’s just the voice directing from Kuro fked them over.

How about you just play them all. I love HSR and I'm still playing WuWa. Not a fan of Genshin though.

You can play as many games as you want. There is no rule, if you play WuWa you can’t play Genshin &/or HSR & vice versa. So why is Cyyu is not allowed to play that? This is an unreasonable request to make of him.
