Hello and happy new year! The demo is live right now! Please support "Wandering Sword" during the Steam Next Fest! Demo link: store.steampowered.com/app/1876890/Wandering_Sword/? Consider this my coming back video. Stay tuned for a DQ7 review, Persona 4 Golden review, and I'll be streaming later today to chat about the Nintendo Direct!! Follow me on Twitch here: www.twitch.tv/lady_pelvic Thank you for supporting me! This year is off to a great start!
I went through that same cultural clash when I played Sword and Fairy last year. It takes time but you do start to remember names and locations. Wandering Sword looks fantastic and with the few tweaks you suggested could be a real gem.
Oh phew. I thought I was alone with the cultural clash. I'm all for the culture! I just felt so bad that I was struggling with it. ^^;; Good to hear it gets easier as you go!
@@PelvicGamingI grew up watching Kung Fu films and I’ve actually trained Wing Chun Kung Fu & Jeet Kune Do for 25 years. So I’m pretty familiar with a lot of the terms. I really love that the meridian points are all real acupressure points! The “Dan Tien” or “Dantien” is a very important point for us in Kung Fu. It’s the center of your body, so it’s important for movement & balance. But it is also where we focus on storing the “Chi” or “Qi”. You meditate or so Qigong moving meditation & focus on sending your breath & energy there)
Yeah, this game piqued my interest when I saw it browsing Steam. I love Chinese history and warfare, it's really cool. Also your makeup looks really good here btw
OH I'M SO GLAD. Honestly, as much as I like to rag on twitter, it's a great way to discover these hidden indie games. Indies have been packing HEAT lately.
I had no idea this game existed. might give it a go in the future. love this graphic art style. I'm still playing octopath 2 once in a while. that new Dragon Quest 3 that's coming, is gonna be something really special.
Now this is a game going on my radar. Looks so promising but I likely wouldn't have been able to catch this game even with my RPG focused recommendation pages.
Just bought this. I’m REALLY enjoying it. The 2D-HD style is pretty good. It may not look as good as something made by Square but is still good. I’m a martial artist, and kung fu is one of my main styles. I also grew up watching Shaw Bros. & Jet Li films after Saturday morning cartoons in NY as a kid. And this game perfectly captures the feel of a kung fu film or Wuxia novel! The only major issue I’ve had so far is I’m not a fan of the U.I. So far I’ve liked the side quests & characters but have also heard about the serious difficulty spikes. I also had an issue with the menus. They kind of suck to go through with a controller. This game really is meant for mouse & keyboard, which is probably why I hate the menus. I’m playing on Steam Deck & looks & runs great. I’ll have to try the trackpad to see if that makes navigation little less frustrating. (Update: Still really enjoying this game! Met my first companion and the story has been awesome so far. I grew up watching Kung Fu films after Saturday morning cartoons and this feels like a Shaw Bros. JRPG! 😂 I’m having a blast!)
Thank you, Lady Pelvic. It's always a joy to hear your thoughts and perspectives. I had a crumby day and this really helped me take a moment to breathe. This game's art is truly stunning, what a great way to highlight history and culture. Another excellent video on the books. I know the only person's opinion that really matters is yours, but I just want to say it's so inspiring to see how much you've grown and the consistent level of professionalism you bring to your work is marvelous.
They slid into the right DM’s. Congrats on the sponsorship Lady P! Another excellent video. You never fail to make me smile when I watch. 🤘🏾Oozing with personality. 🖤
I definitely enjoyed trying out the demo while its still available, I am interested in it a little more now that i got a chance to play it. The writing could still use some work but I'm not *too* stress about that yet since this seems to be an early demo so hopefully there will be more proofreading down the line before release.
Excellent point! I think the writing needs a little more oomph! Because it has some GREAT story moments/battles. And I think with a little more TLC towards the writing they could push these moments even further!
Seem like a cool game. They could use one color for names and other color for locations. Every Time a game do this it's way easier to get used to unfamiliar names.
There's a lot of references in this game to Jin Yong's "Legend of the Condor Heros" book series, which is essentially as influential to Eastern fantasy as Tolkein's Lord of the Rings is to Western fantasy. I loved it all!
Wow this looks really good, never heard of it until now the combat system looks cool. like theres a tactics aspect to it with placements of the enemies
Can't say it looks like anything new. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if a similar game was put next to it. At some point devs really have to make some serious revolutionary additions to turn base/tactic RPGs to truly make them stand out again. The gameplay in Death End Request should be the future of the genre in my opinion. But I feel like I've said all of this before. Anyway, this culture clash thing is normal though. It's pretty much bound to happen when read, playing, or watching media from China or Korea since so many people have similar names. There are historical reasons for this, but I'll leave that to self research. Specifically, it happened to me when I was reading a Korean manga called the breaker. I enjoyed the 300 so chapters of it, but I couldn't tell you one character's name. Not even the MC's.
@@Rob_Thorsman I agree. But the way my life is set up, I really don't want to waste my time playing generic, repetitive, and uninspiring video games. These days I'm more into media I can learn from that inspires my creative side and mind. So the question I ask in the end is if the game is forgettable. Not based on how enjoyable it is, but if you can apply the experience to your own life in some way. It's like the difference between playing a yearly call of duty and Tales of Berseria (most impactful game in my life so far). Personally, I loved a widely disliked game like Monark because of the story themes, music, and character designs. The gameplay is quite similar to other tactics games though. Meaning it's possible for me to actually pick up a modern era turn based/tactics game. It'll just have to do something that really catches my eye. In the case of Wandering sword, I honestly don't think I could go back to playing 8bit style turnbase rpgs after how rampant they were back then. Definitely burned out on them. Something like Tales of Rebirth wouldn't be a problem though.

This definitely looks like something I’ll check out!
It's great to see gorgeous 2.5D graphics being used in indie titles. What a beautiful looking piece of work so far, for such an early stage!
Right?? I am here for it!!
Nice, This wasn't on my radar but it is now! Thank you for showing this and love all of your videos

What a pleasant surprise! I just saw this game and became interested, so it's nice to see a video with some of the gameplay.
Seems really ambitious and I like the look of it.
Give the demo a try! It is ambitious but I'm here for shooting for the moon!
Now you have to play the best RPG of all time: reading a book (like Smiling Proud Wanderer) by author Jin Yong (Louis Cha).
turn based tactics, embedded within jrpg template… I’M IN!! Hope this releases on iOS one day.
When you going to review the 2 lunar games? Classic ps1 pixel sprites. Classic turn based. Seems up ur alley
Seem like a cool game. They could use one color for names and other color for locations. Every Time a game do this it's way easier to get used to unfamiliar names.
Amazing art style and ambience. Please do Portuguese Language localisation!
Love the reviews.
Does the queen livestream or do playthrough vids? ☺
Ooh finally all that dynasty warriors stuff paid off. This seems up my alley.
Thank you for making me smile. Seem like a good indi-game to keep an eye on
what a nicely relevant sponsor
Looks pretty.. No doubt about that.
Sounds Pre cool

Alright, I'm in. Everyone seems to keep mentioning this game and I was already taken by the aesthetics, so let me see what the hubbub's about.
Damn it looks really fun, i love how your videos make it so i don't miss gems like this one
Played this demo a few days ago, fell into everything deeply. I'm buying this game as soon as it's released
This looks like a game I'd enjoy
The demo is out~~
Wow this looks really good, never heard of it until now
the combat system looks cool. like theres a tactics aspect to it with placements of the enemies
I've heard enough positive reviews in the last two days that I definitely got to give the demo a try this weekend.
This looks very interesting I will check it out
This glow up is looking lovely on you, Amber ✨
Great video, art really looks sweet.
A JRPG style game with Wuxia and Cultivation is pretty hype.
Cultivation is truly some true Madness, but Madness is my jam.

A game doesn't have to reinvent the wheel to be enjoyable.
