  • This video shows how to connect the 3 VDC power supply to the Self Winding Clock Company style "F" movement. A very simple power supply can be used.

    Very helpful Alan. My father passed away last year and was a lifelong NAWCC member in So Cal. I've been overwhelmed with all his clocks (especially the SWCCs) and trying to get them running again. Your videos have been extremely helpful!!! Thanks!

      Hi Dan, I am pleased the videos have been helpful. This is great to hear that you have some of your dad's clocks and plan to get them working. Les was a superb mentor to many of us with his wealth of technical and mechanical and historical information. If I can be of any help I would love to reciprocate. Please do not hesitate to contact me. Alan jabloore@aol.com

    My first problem has been finding a DC power supply that runs on batteries. My searches have only found AC power supplies or AC conversions for battery powered units.

    Hello Alan,
    Can you make a video on how to install and wire the plastic holder for the d batteries. Just bought a bigger western union clock and glad I found your video. Thank you!

      Hi, The plastic battery holder can be held in place using any holes in the metal of the clock back. Drill holes in the battery holder to match the holes in the back and use tiny bolts and nuts. The wiring will be the same as in the video.

    Mr. Bloore, do you repair clocks? Would you ever consider coming to Palm Desert to fix my NY clock company self winding clock? It was once the master clock for Milwaukee. I can’t find anyone in the desert who will fix it.

      I do not repair clocks but may be able to find someone who can help.

    I’m having a problem with an old rhythm clock company movement that has a damaged winding movement that’s running on a a single 1.5 v type c battery. I’m trying to figure a way to get it to self wind properly. At the moment it’ll run for a while until the spring mechanism runs out of power, and since it isn’t being wound back it stops. I’d appreciate any tips. Thanks!

      Jose I don't know anything about an old rhythm clock company movement. Sorry but I can't help. Alan

    Hi Alan,
    I a a collector of electrical clocks form Germany and I do have a few US clocks as well. Recently I purchased a Welf-Winding Clock build for the British market with an Style A movement. But one part of the Mainspring Tension is broken. Do you have detailed pictures of this part in order to re-construct the part??
    Many Thanks for your help on this.
    Thorsten - Hamburg/Germany

      Hi Thorston, Not sure what part of your movement is broken. If you could email me a photo of the broken area of the clock I think I will be able to help. Love to hear that these clocks are appreciated all around the world. Alan jabloore@aol.com

    I picked up a self winding clock co. clock. On the metal tag it reads:
    KS 1928
    24 volts Movt# 200836
    Nice wood case, missing pendulum. What do I have?

      @SelfWindingClocks  2 года назад

      Hi Dennis, You have a SWCC master clock made for AT&T. They were used by telephone companies. As you see by the tag, the clock runs on 24 vdc rather than 3 vdc that the majority of SWCC clocks run on. If the clock is in a square 21x21 inch case the pendulum was a wood rod brass bob pendulum. These are nice clocks. Alan

    Have the clock. Pendulum moves and clicks but as it swings finally comes to a stop. Put your two d cells. Started pendulum still slows to stop. Can here the self wind if I touch the frame but when hook to + area clock will not continue. Any ideas? Thank you.

      Mike, hard to say what the problem might be. First, wind the movement fully , do not connect the batteries, and see if the movement will run down completely. If not, the problem is with the mechanical movement. If runs down completely try the electric hook up again. and then??

    Would you be able to tell me what the DC voltage requirement would be on a Stromberg labelled 110V?

    • @SelfWindingClocks
      @SelfWindingClocks  Год назад

      I know that Stromberg made 110 Volt DC systems so you may have one.

      @@SelfWindingClocks It's definitely marked 110v, but I'm trying to figure out how I would provide power to it. I can't plug it straight into 110AC can I? Shouldn't the AC convert to some DC voltage?

    • @SelfWindingClocks
      @SelfWindingClocks  Год назад

      @@mantolaman It will not work on AC power. Is this the only Electro-mechanical clock you have? 110 volt DC clocks were not very common.

      @@SelfWindingClocks I have a Western Union Type F, and 3 Kundos. I was attempting to buy a Stromberg time only, and it was labelled 110V, but the coil was not labelled. I understand Stromberg made several voltage variations of their clocks. But I was trying to figure out what type of power supply it might need. It has an electric cord on it, but don't know what provision for conversion to DC was.

      @@mantolaman You can power that clock with a power supply made by Ken's Clock Clinic.
