    The UK school system is quite complex but Gavin made it sound much more complicated by adding GCSE and A level. If he just said: "Years 1 - 12 is school. Above that is college or further education for 2 years and finally uni after that."

      Yea that sounds about the same

      Basically year 1-8 don't matter as far as your future then 9-11 is gcse 12 and 13 are optional further education (A levels or college) and then university is after that

      +DanielHodder7 I think the thing that was getting everybody confused was what getting "qualifications" meant. Are they tests or an entire class that you have to take?

    • @TheCakenukeism
      @TheCakenukeism 8 лет назад

      Nah, it's just like high school with 2 less years and than starting associates degree equivalent.

      Year 1-6 is primary school, sometimes 1-7 in the same school though 7-11 is secondary school. 6th form is considered year 12-13. But instead of 6th form, you can go to college for your year 12-13, or just year 12. Then usually from 6th form, you go to university or just get a job. From college you just go straight to jobs. It's weird but so is your senior, softmore, middle school bullshit
      Edit: also our grading system changed last year to numbers which is fuckin dumb

    To all the people who don't understand American School System:
    There's Kindergarten, and then Grades 1-12. This is basic schooling that is required for a high school diploma, which is considered bare minimum to get a decent job.
    The "freshman, etc" is just casual names for the last 4 years of school, collectively called "highschool"
    Grade 9 - Freshman
    Grade 10 - Sophmore
    Grade 11 - Junior
    Grade 12 - Senior
    It's literally nothing more than that.
    Grades 6-8 are typically referred to as "middle school", all grades before that are "elementary school"
    Specialized specific courses to get into certain fields don't start until AFTER Grade 12 in College, In which you get specialized degrees in certain fields that make you more qualified for specific jobs.

    Barbs is wrong, it is not a law that you have to go to school till 16 in Canada, at least not in Alberta.

    "Your system is fucked up, and you should be ashamed of ourselves" Ashamed of what? That the American Education system doesn't let you comprehend complex things so its somehow our fault? That if its not simple, its stupid? Pfff.

    hearing gavin talk about education systems pisses me off so much

  • @TiNiET0M
    @TiNiET0M 8 лет назад +1

    I find this so infuriating to watch because I just want to explain the system to them without Gavin confusing the situation more. The UK education system isn't this complicated and in theory is a better system than the US one (albeit not always in execution).

    • @themadhammer3305
      @themadhammer3305 7 лет назад

      It depends where in the uk though cause Scotland calls their levels and school years differently to England, basically every education system is easy to understand if you grew up with it

    • @Isaygoodday5
      @Isaygoodday5 7 лет назад

      Gavin explains it in like the worst way possible, then acts like they're stupid for not automatically knowing how it works

  • @comedygoldish

    I don't get why Gavin was being such a condescending doorknob about the whole "years advance a day" thing. Like people don't notice because people don't give a shit, why is it such a big deal that Burnie doesn't know it.

    • @Isaygoodday5
      @Isaygoodday5 7 лет назад

      because gavin is a condescending piece of shit about everything, and of course he even uses it to bash on America
