Basically the ultimate in real world simulated flying. I love FPV and I love fixed wing as well so the two worlds together seems like the next natural step.
Could you imagine the military potential for using it for drones I always though that's what fpv goggles would be great for piloting unmanned drones as if they were there in the cockpit so we would never have to lose pilots because first of all they are human.. but because those are also expensive... it could be used for testing aircraft.. I mean why darpa/military industrial complex!!!??? WHY!!??
Awesome, that's literarily amazing. I've had this idea of using a real display just like this with the combo of a VR headset and a fpv headtracking cam for a while. Ultimate immersion at that level of tech, just need to get a flight stick as a controller.
Outstanding mate! I am very interested in your real time instrumentation, especially the airspeed and variometer. Also super impressed that you made a 3-axis gimbal compact enough to fit within the canopy. I am curious how the roll impacts flying without inertial (butt in pants) feel in the cockpit with visual reference to horizon only?
Hello mate. I have not implemented yet (doable thou) the airspeed and variometer. Currently it measures the Ground Speed (GPS) but I can display the airspeed instead if you have a Pitot Tube installed in your flight controller. Variometer is also doable.
