I moved to Malaysia from England in '84.. I was 17 and had fallen in love with my husband. This was the very first chinese song I fell in love with. However, once I learnt to speak Hokkien, i changed the words and teased my neighbour relentlessly. I still love this song and can sing some of it too. Brings back memories of my first year and my first CNY. Good memories. :)
Such emotional song ,great lyric as well as melody. This song can shake up all your emotion and bring out your thought towards your family and homeland.

Ugh, yes there is. It's not mutual intelligible with 闽南话 because it has its own history and is fused with other languages after the original immigrants left Mainland China, and there are also quite some divergence in different area in Taiwan, ROC. I would better off putting Mandarin instead of Chinese, though. Mea culpa.
OMG @Istu Prawiro !!! Yes, there was a slightly crack, but : 1. have anyone noticed that she actualy sang the song on a higher key than the original one (which was also sung by herself)? 2. My goodness, how many pop singers are there who can perform their original songs on the same key (or even higher) when they've reach the same age as Julie (Su Rui) did in this perfomance? Not many! 3. So, don't be so disrespectful, please.
