No that’s not the same. Tax on people in western countries is nothing about what faith you are. It’s about how much you earn. What tax bracket your income rests in. You can’t tax someone because they are a NON Muslim.

Non-Muslims in a Muslim society are protected and supported by the works carried out by the state and are hence charged for that service. Muslims are charged a bit extra since they have an obligation by choosing the faith of Islam to give a portion of their wage to help the needy. So it's not just about the service provided. In a Muslim society the amount of tax taken from its citizens both Muslim and Non-Muslim is nowhere near close to the average tax a citizen would pay in a western country.
