The real version before the Neptunes got signed by Virgin records and they're remixed and censored this tune musically but also just reused the original artwork of the album and blurred out Pharrell's ac/dc shirts etc... This tune seriously created some unification between poor black and white people going trough the same shit and I've always found it such a raw tune that it never really resonated with that good old Happy tune somehow...
Between the two versions... yeah, the 2001 release was more unique and experimental, but if I could only have one Lapdance it would be the final album version here--better flow to it and harder.
