      @@CradleEpiscopalian56 Because people love to find flaws and focus intensely on them. Most people who do that, can barely hit a nail without hitting their own fingers or in other words, most people who hate, are online litterates who has absolutely zero experience in doing the things themselves. They've read something online and decided that it sounded good enough to be true, but they never tested that themselves.
      There are of course also tradespeople who criticize, but they usually also gives tips and tricks on how and what to do better. Wearing masks would certainly help them in the long run and it's important to teach them safety. But if this is the only project they've helped with, then I'm certain a single trip to a larger city will leave them exposed to far more harmful gasses and dust, than a few hours at a single house renovation project.

    Get yourselves some good dust masks and some actual work boots when doing demo. You have no idea how many things have fallen on my boots... and every time, I give a little shoutout to my steel toe boots for saving my precious toes. And you may not think of it now but inhaling sheetrock dust, wood dust, tile dust, and fiberglass from insulation is a great way to be dead before 50. Seriously, get some masks. Looks good guys. I recommend get some schluter for the edging of tiles for your shower at 13:10. Just keeps stuff looking nice and doesn't throw off your pattern with bullnoses.

    • @Bmanfresh
      @Bmanfresh 6 лет назад +7

      Mark S word to the boots thing best thing to invest in if your doing demo but really any kind of work is done best in work dedicated shoes that will stop almost any regular smaller nails and screws. And yeah I too have thanked myself for ordering my boots because once I did I put em straight to use I was kicking the sheets of drywall off interior of wall, sliding and using my feet as a push broom for the tile leftovers in my way. Only thing is BUY your size cause if to big waste of money and to small you’ll never use em again lol

    • @FurnitureFan
      @FurnitureFan 5 лет назад +3

    • @Bmanfresh

      FurnitureFan I already bought some good Dewalt shoes in 9.5 I normally wear 8-1/2 to 9 shoes but figured it would be better not to have to unlace them so much while putting them on so I went half size up but in turn it’s to big, still manageable and aren’t to uncomfortable but after realizing it’s actually not to hard to put them on I wish I would have bought the sz9 insted. Next boots I’ll be more informed and buy the correct size.

      Start small then and do it bit by bit. I'm in the process of remodelling my apartment (have been doing so for 3 years now) and I'm not as far as I want to be, but I am getting pretty close. I've several times thought I wouldn't make it till the end, but the key is in taking breaks. Whenever you feel tired of what you're doing, take a break and wait for the enthusiams to return. This is of course the easiest to do if you're not living the same place you're renovating.
      If doing it room by room is still too much work initially, then start out buying worn furniture from thrift shops and restore them, before selling them again (unless you wanna keep them of course). At the end it'll give you the same feeling of achievement and it's easier to achieve large goals by completing a lot of small ones first.

    good job! a pointer from one flipper to another. always go with higher end accessories. faucets, light fixtures, doors, etc.... the cost of the "higher end" ones are usually only a few dollars more than the cheap ones and will, in a lot of cases, bring you several thousands more when it's time to sell. no more $60 faucets, $40 doors, and $40 light fixtures..... you'll thank me later.

    This is a true flipper, knowing all of this is what I wish I have now with a house I bought that I’m “flipping” although my wife and I aren’t selling it and it’ll be our main house. I’ve luckily done most things myself while learning along the way. But anyone can buy a house, hire a contractor to do what they’ve done for years, make everything aesthetically pleasing, and sell it. Doing it yourself is real work, and came out great!

    • @scouser2010ify
      @scouser2010ify 6 лет назад +6

      Blahblah it’s not hard to figure out lol you can buy these little machines that can tell you if it’s load Baring too but I’m not sure what they’re called

    • @lukeupdyke5659
      @lukeupdyke5659 6 лет назад +6

      If your joist that the wall is connected to ends on the top of the section of wall you would like to tear down, it is load bearing. If the joist above the wall you would like to tear down ends on a support post beyond your wall, it is not load bearing.If you aren't to positive, it is ALWAYS worth calling someone that can safely and easily determine which walls are load bearing, and which walls are not.

    • @shaneholomalia808
      @shaneholomalia808 6 лет назад +16

      He took those walls down but at the 4 min - 5 min mark you can see him framing a beams in to compensate for the load. I wouldn't go knocking down walls unless you absolutely know what you're doing. You could really mess something up.

    • @kristinhutchison8948
      @kristinhutchison8948 6 лет назад +36

      It looked like some of those walls were load bearing. That's why they put support beams. You can't tell if it's load bearing from a machine, lol. Those machines are called stud finders will tell you where the studs in the wall are.
