      I have the 100-300mm, but also purchased the 100-400mm. So I'll be selling my 100-300mm. The 100-400mm is 3x the price though and very heavy by comparison. But I'm sure you can get all of those lenses used. I have the 12-60mm (the f2.8-4 version). It's a great overall lens for that camera. Hi Don, I love the 100-400mm. I recently took my 100-300mm on vacation and I really missed the extra reach and sharpness. Oh yes, if a G9ii is indeed going to materialize, I will most likely buy it unless Panasonic wants to give me one. That would be fantastic!

      I want the 100-400mm. But the cost and fear that I will get a used model that has focus ring or build quality kinda scares me. I also want to aquire the Leica/Lumix 45 Macro as well as the 35 - 100mm as well.
      I have the 12 - 35mm 2.8 so that would complete my collection of (9) Lenes for my G9. I think I have overlapped and need to sell some. Great seeing you again and hope to see more soon, always a pleasure. Cheers.

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, definitely look for a used 100-400. The 12-35 and 35-100 were my first lenses for my GH3 - 10 years ago. I never use the 35-100mm anymore since I started birding. But both are nice fast lenses. I recently bought the 12-60 and that has also replaced my 12-35, but it's not quite as fast at the long focal length. I also have a couple of primes which stay on the small cameras most of the time.

    Love your channel...new to g9...from Canon 5D iv....my question is how to tag photos as to where is was taken. Do I have to use the app every time I take a picture or can it be tagged on every photo in the EXIF??? thank you..

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  10 месяцев назад

      Page 221 of the camera manual talks about setting up Location details "in the camera". Download the PDF manual (link in video description) and search "Location" in the search bar of the PDF. In my experience, it's easier to do location tagging upon import in LR. But of course that doesn't work for everyone, especially if you want it permanently attached to the EXIF data of the file. (I moved from Canon 5D mk2 to Lumix M43 about 11 years ago. Never looked back!)

    Hi Marlene, a great video again from you! In this video you uses a monopod. Are there differences between the monopods from different brands? And if so, what is the most important criteria in your opinion to buy this or better this?
    The thing with the coffee is done. 😊

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  10 месяцев назад

      I have 2 monopods. The bigger one (seen in this video) is Aluminum - Benro A48TD. I needs a separate head. I use my Manfrotto Ball head for it. It's quite sturdy and goes very tall. It also has small tripod legs on the bottom. I have a second monopod that is very light and short and can fit in my backpack if I go for a long walk or hiking. It doesn't go as high though so it wasn't suitable for shooting birds high in the trees. I'm not very tall so usually it is good enough. I sometimes take a friend along to film me with my small Lumix G100 for my RUclips videos and I use that smaller monopod for that purpose more than for birding. I suggest you take your camera to a shop and try some out. That's what I did with these two. Hope that helps and thank you for the Coffee support! :)

      @@ImageMaven Thank you for you kind answer, Marlene. The maximum height was the main criteria for me to choose my Cullmann Nanomax 490 (I don‘t know if this brand is known in Canada, is it?). And it was not very expensive. Beside this the weight and the length are important for an easy transport on hiking. For bird shooting it is not high enough I think. But I‘m a beginner in this field and so I will gain experiences. Perhaps a new monopod is the result. It is a hobby that has swallowed up like a bottomless pit. 😁 But we choose it. 😀

    I was just debating whether to upgrade from my G80 to a G9... so should I wait?
    I recently bought a Canon 7Dmark II + 100-400 lens second hand, for bird photography.
    It's great, but very heavy. And since I have quite a few lenses for the G80, I was wondering whether they would still fit on the G9 too. Any thoughts? I would continue to use the Lumix for other stuff (city, landscape, macro), it's so light and comfortable! But the G80 lacks quite a few things the G9 does have... so... quite tempted, IF I can keep the same lenses.

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes all M43 lenses will fit all your M43 cameras like the G80 or G9 and many others -- even OM cameras. Yes Canon dSLR are very heavy and very expensive compared to my Lumix gear. I got rid of mine over 10 years ago. No regrets. And I'm sure you will soon be able to pick up a new G9 for cheap! So waiting depends on your budget and what you plan to use the camera for. I'm asking myself the same question.

    Marlene, I went back 7 years to get your perspective on smething and wondered if you had ever thought to shoot an owl in Post focus mode. It's the only stationary bird, per se, that I think it w ould work on? What do you think?

      Honestly have never thought of doing that! Owl encounters are few and far between the past several months. But definitely worth trying out. And great to hear from you again Steve. I know I've been hiding under a bush lately. Appreciate all my G9-ers reaching out now and again. Means a lot!

    Your photos look excellent. I have a G9 and the 100400 but the photos are never great. It's hard to admit it is not the fancy equipment at fault.

      Thank you for your honesty. Not many will say that. I am often disappointed with my own photos too. But with practice you will get the photos you want! Cheers.
