I'm fixing up my family's 1950 3100 too. Great project to work on with my dad. The last people to fix it up were my uncle and great grandpa. These things are family legacies that need to be cherished and held close.
Really sweet! Greetings from India. You have kept it original. That's great. Not like some people who make trucks look short. Like Rambo on Danny De Vito legs. It looks as if you have just taken delivery of it from the show room. I am sure it looked like this when your grandad bought it. He would be very happy. This is like a family member. In India we had right hand drive version of these and Ford trucks. Many were in service till the 1990s, when stronger pollution laws saw these go out. Many were fitted with Perkins and Kirloskar diesel engines during the 1974 oil crisis.
Beautiful Truck. I'm restoring a 48 Chevy 1/2 ton 5 window Truck with the original 216 c.i. 6 cylinder with three on the tree. I love the fact that you've kept your's original! Most of the 47 - 53 trucks that you see have had a 350 crate motor installed and a completely new drive train.
Great job! My Dad loved cars and we always had some pretty nice, fast cars. When we lived in Hawaii, Mom drove a 1961 Cadillac El Dorado convertible, black with red leather interior and a white top. Dad drove a 1962 Oldsmobile Delta 88 convertible, gold with gold leather interior and a white top. Then, when we moved to Connecticut, Dad bought a 1969 Chevy Camaro, SS 396 white with black brow stripe and a black vinyl top. After that, he bought a really fun Triumph, GT6, dark blue with overdrive. Wish we still had any of those cars still, but they were fun while we had them! Great story and a great tribute to your family.
Nice truck, I have a 53 five window, just done on a green exactly like you're truck, this is a classic green and goes beautiful on this old chevy trucks. Keep it beautiful, good memories from your father!!!!
Beautiful truck! When I was very little, my dad had a 1950 Chevy 3100 5 window. Probably one of the rarest colors and combos of a pick up at that time. It was sitting in our garage for ages... a couple years later, we did a frame off restoration back to original. It looked EXACLY spot on like this truck afterwards. Later we sold it and I begged my dad not to. I’ve never seen that truck since😪😭 I’m in high school now, I’ve analyst wanted a 1950 Chevy 5 window since.
Mega LIKE! Mine is a 54 3100 and im working on it right now. And its so much learning from tbe past, bringing it back to life and to the future generations! Thanks for the inspiration to continue on. Many blessings to all!
my grandpa purchased a 1948 chevy pick up in high school, he even took a girl to the sadie hawkins dance in it. we plan to start restoring it soon. I also plan on having it at my wedding one day too
Thanks for sharing. Really love the fact that you kept it original. Looks fantastic. The story really makes it. I own a 55 GMC 100 that came from Nevada. It's now in Ireland. Have no way of tracing the history unfortunately.
I bought one for $50.00 Canadian in 1970 and drove it for about a year till the transmission went out,Wish I had it now!.Same color as yours but faded. Great ride
I did the bodywork on one. Wasn't mine, but it was a good thing to work on, you could still work the metal. Drive it daily, enjoy it, and when it needs rebuilt again, do it.
The best thing about this whole ordeal in regards of you we storing your family own car is that you know had the by your own car or no car payment that should be a blessing for you in your new bride👍
That series (47-55) was a beautiful and timeless design. If you look at it in a certain way, it still seems like a fresh, contemporary look, and the restoration is unspeakably well done. Got to love the 5 window feature, and there's actually room in the cab for two good-sized adults. The only complaint I have with pickups of that era is that the sides of the cargo box should have been elevated to the window sill height -- it looks like all cab, and the bed in back is out of proportion to the cab. But otherwise, congratulations on a beautiful build.
Very nice. The box floor of course is completely incorrect but completely forgivable. I have a '49 1300 (many small detail differences but essentially the same truck). Did you change the final drive ratio?
Wow just wow kept the 6 .. and no hack jobs with LS bullshit ...just beautiful awesome video 👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊
Thank you for watching the video.

Beautiful restoration of this classic Chevy 3100 truck. Love it.
YES! THIS IS THE AMERICAN MACHINE.

This truck has the old time beauty and charm that new trucks lack. Love that green. Take good care of your baby.
You're a very lucky man to do a truck like that it looks beautiful you've done a wonderful job and you kept it original that's the beautiful part

What a beautiful truck!! I used to own a 49 3100 advanced design. Miss the old thing terribly.
Very nicely restored oldie. I like the fact that you left it as factory original. This chevy is one of my favourite pickup trucks.
Beautiful truck! I have my grandfather's 52 3100 that's been in my family since he bought it in 55 so I can relate.
Very cool!

Absolutely Beautiful!
video footage was well done with b-roll and drone. Well done!
You forgot the very important 6400 2 ton models.
Great truck. What type of transmission oil did you use on your original transmission?
👍👍👍 Original
Great video! Did you go clear or green tinted windows?
Very nice. The box floor of course is completely incorrect but completely forgivable. I have a '49 1300 (many small detail differences but essentially the same truck). Did you change the final drive ratio?
Does anyone know the color that was used for the grey dash and steering wheel?
Sanford & Son? 😎
Question: How come a 1949 Chevrolet with a 1947 Tag ? AND one of your before photos shows a column shift and you are driving a floor shift ?
They didnt issue new plates each year. Just a metal tag for the corner. He said he switched from column shift to floor shift in video.
I’m restoring my ‘49
Color paint name?
Thx
Carlo from Italy 🇮🇹
Seacrest Green is the color name
The color makes me want to vomit other than that its a very beautiful truck!👍
So, YOU restored it, by paying someone else to do the work...
Cool.. Something to be "proud" of... 🤔
He did alot of the restoration himself and he paid a shop to paint the truck. But good job of being a hater on the internet.
I clicked on here to see the truck,, not hear your life story 👎👎👎👎
