    String winders are such a life saver! I'm shocked i haven't had at least one of em when they came out in the 80s...bought two last year they are the best investments for changing strings; i alternate between D'addarios and GHS Boomers 10-46 though i might go slightly higher on the E A D strings.

    Hey man, love the vids! What treble bleed would you recommend for a strat volume knob. I know it would be best to try different values but unfortunately my soldering skills are no good so I would have to take it to a luthier for every change.

      Jared Sams i would do this
      Take two lengths of wire. Have them soldered to the two ligs on the volume pot that would have the treble bleed soldered to it
      On the other end of those two wires, attach two alligator clips. Put the guard back on
      Now u have a way to test multiple values and find out what u like for your amps/pedals and ears. One of the first videos on hear "rolled off treble bleed" shows the range. Thanks for checking out the vid!

    If you put the nut in some coffee or tea, that will also make it darker.

    Don't ruin your screw holes. Always first turn to the left until it "clicks", then tighten the screw. Doing it this way your screw holes don't wear out.

    Hello Nik, very nice to see your great 59 strat inside. Can you tell us which caps you have in the guitar?

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473

      @@theriffwniksevigny5473 Hello Nik, I know the cap at the tone Poti. But usually, stock strats have no caps at volume. Can you say me which cap you have at volume? I know you are very busy. Advanced thank you for your answer!

    Awesome set up video man! You may have said but if so I missed it, what kind of spray do you use for the pots? Also, would you consider a video on whammy set up? Appreciate it man, keep the videos coming!

    Looks like your pickups are set pretty high. You set them like that for a higher output?

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  6 лет назад +1

      CleanTone in relation to the string height, they arent really that high. It wont give you a hotter sound or "output". But the touch sensitivity/ balance and note separation is what you are listening for when adjusting pickups. Maybe that could be a video topic?!? Thanks for checking it out! Also watching it, i wonder if its the lens that makes them look higher

    • @Guillaumejac

      Yes, could be a nice video topic... Thanks!

    Hey man, my strings go dull pretty fast and the low E loses its snap in a few days, is this a strat thing or a string thing. In other words how do I know if my strat is resonating like it should after the strings have been played in (it's a Custom shop 1959 relic)

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  6 лет назад

      Michael Asquith try a different string brand eliminate that factor

      The Riff w Nik Sevigny I use Ernie slinky's usually, but the cobalts or something coated could be an idea I guess

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  6 лет назад

      Michael Asquith yes. The EB strings did that to me. Corrosion set in quick. Keep me posted on what u find

      The Riff w Nik Sevigny cool, will do, saw KWS the other night, and his tone is super clear with the EB Cobalts, so I might try them first.
      (He came in to the guitar shop the next day and caught me jamming out on his riffs haha)

      Try Elixer POLY (not "nano") web coated strings. They last for ages even with my caustic acidic sweaty hands!
