Say what you want about Fantasia but I believe other than having a great voice, she was the best idol performer...you never know what your gonna get with her!
i can't get enough of this video, i remember seeing this live on TV. Right then and there I knew she'd win, i've probably seen this over 100 times, and counting!
Idol has yet to get a contest who can actually perform, emote,work the crowd, and pull you in like Fantasia. It's one thing to have vocal ability; it's another to be so confortable with performing that you bring people in.
Fantasia is a great performer with a unique quality . After watching many of these videos, she stands alone.. due to her unique voice with great strength, tone and humility. Plus this woman can perform she can truly work off an audience take the energy from them and give it all back and then some. Flaws that are embraced and not masked make the richest of us all. Her voice isn't soft. her look isn't so much cute.but her layers are thick and her heart is big and her voice shows this.i love her.

Why does everyone feel the need to compare one to another particularly people without singing talent. They are unique artists fantastic in their own right and don't sound alike.
You guys need to respect each other's opinions and stop getting personal... My personal opinion is that Fantasia is the bomb! The girl's got talent! She has a unique voice that commands a crowd not to mention her amazing ability to perform! I love her... I think she was the most unique and AMAZING Idol ever!

She is amazing, I liked the Summertime performance the best -- but I felt that she funked up the very ending of this song with the awkaward 'yeah yeeah yeahhh'
the lady in which you were responding seems to be a negative person. the only thing i can say for you to her is to pray for her. listening to fantasia and looking at her it was nothing but the love of the Lord that melted our hearts and the enemy hardened others because he knows that God has something in store.
@babyzorilla How was she fearless? By no means am I knocking her talent, but her entire run she pretty much stuck with straight r&b covers. If we're getting down to pure fearlessness I'd give it to either Adam Lambert or Kris Allen.

Simon has constantly given different answers to the question of who the best idol winner/contestant is. He has said that Kelly Clarkson is the best vocalist they've ever found and that Adam is the biggest superstar. In the end, I don't think there will ever be a universally favored american idol.
