    My dad died on the ninth of this month. He had liver problems then suddenly got sepsis. He was rushed to ICU and in hours he was gone. They said it was multiple organ failure, sepsis shock and cyrosis. They sedated him which is a peace of mind. It helps me sleep at night. He was only 63.

    I wish you had been my 86 year old mother's A+E nurse here in London in December.
    I told the Dr at the hospital I was worried my mother's UTI had turned to Sepsis as she had vomited twice in the day and then in the evening collapsed walking her a few steps to bed struggling to breathe and high heart rate,which made me call the ambulance.
    The Dr said her blood test was clear and he put her on a drip for an hour as she was dehydrated.,and that I could then take my mother home.
    Less than 48 hrs after discharge as I was walking my mother to bed exactly the same thing happened,she collapsed and was sick and in distress..I called the ambulance..very soon after I lay her down on the bed I felt her squeeze my hand,she then stopped breathing.
    The paramedics tried to revive her but it was too late.
    My mother's GP later said after reading the A+E summary she was surprised they did not take a urine sample for analysis,also the White blood cell count in the blood analysis was raised.
    I am now in the process of a complaints procedure to the hospital authorities..
    I think if the Dr had followed your process she would be alive today. .

    Thanks for ur nice explanation. sir is there any role of steroid as there is increased inflammatory markers in sepsis?

    • @NursingSchoolExplained

      Great question! Corticosteroids may help to decrease inflammatory markers and their use is evaluated on a case by case basis.
      Thanks for watching! 😀

    Does an infection HAVE to spread into the blood stream to cause sepsis? Can sepsis occur without it spreading to the bloodstream???

    • @NursingSchoolExplained
      @NursingSchoolExplained  Год назад +2

      Yes, it always means that the infection has spread into the blood. Another term for sepsis is septicemia (= sepsis/infection of the bloodstream). Hope this helps!
