I love the Instax Square film. Your mention of a lack of creative control has met its match since my purchase of a NONS camera. With an adapter, I can use any of my Canon FD manual lenses. While mostly used as a studio portrait camera, the results have been outstanding.

Not regular batteries and no way to switch off flash for most people mean that this is crap. Even if it makes good photos in some scenarios.
Also the added benefit of no AI manipulation such as when some hacks your smart phone
