The Wraith's strength and weakness need to be swapped. While being more active after stepping in salt can be a clue, it's not nearly active enough to distinguish itself from a more aggressive ghost (a random personality trait generated each mission). Additionally, being more active leads to it draining sanity faster. On the flip side, leaving no footprints is a dead giveaway that you're dealing with a Mimic or a Wraith, and are relatively easy to distinguish since they only share one evidence (Spirit Box).
32:48 the mimic have a special combination of evidence including the ghost orb, that nobody have beside him, so if in journal u have a combination of three evidence including ghost orb, and the journal tell u no ghost have it, it mean it is the mimic. becuz the mimic dont have the ghost orb categorize as evidence, when u mark them as evidence in the journal the mimic is greyed as if it was not him but it is a 4th evidence for it actualy.
An additional tip about the Mimic is that it can copy what's normally a unique characteristics of other ghosts too, so when seeing a unique characteristic show up, if the evidence doesn't align with the ghost that characteristic belongs to, then it must be a Mimic. For example, if you see an Obake handprint but have Freezing Temperatures as a piece of evidence, or if the ghost shows Hantu freezing breath but you have Spirit Box as a piece of evidence, or if the ghost does Twin interactions but you saw Ghost Orbs, etc., those are guaranteed to be a Mimic. Because of this, when seeing a unique characteristic, instead of immediately assuming you know what the ghost is, it's best to still look for evidence to at least eliminate Mimic as a possibility
I remember a mission with a Mare that, multiple times in a row, turned the lights off as soon as I turned them on. For a solid four seconds the room looked like a rave.
I love watching your vids. The ghost breakdowns and the ones you just kind of toy with them. Then I go watch someone like Kaif and his mates get utterly destroyed by just about every ghost. Gives me a huge giggle.
Raijins might be bugged, because I had one kill me at 80% sanity yesterday. Also, the Onryo straight up killed someone in the house 30 seconds after we we were inside, so the slight chance to instantly hunt is legit.
Thanks for going over the ghosts, much appreciated. Probably have to watch this guide a few times honestly. I just started playing Phasmophobia. Have a great day!
As someone who started in mid 2021 and just came back from a break, I always loved your amazing content that really helped me understand the game more. I personally believe the new Raiju is the Strongest ghost but I would rather have that than the Mimic in my opinion.
I've only seen The Mimic once, during early training on Amateur. But when I did, I did notice something unique about its Ghost Orb signature. There were many, many orbs, in very rapid succession. All other Ghost Orb sightings were either sparse or slow. The Mimic's false Orb reads on the camera appeared and drifted away twice as quickly, and the camera was never without an Orb floating around.
Ran into the Raiju on my third ever game of phas, ontop of it having the black haired nightgown model, my friends and I entered the basement saw a summoning circle then got a ghost event of her crawling down the stairs. Another event after we went to leave the house, she spazzed in the kitchen and we all pissed ourselves, didn't know that they fed off the energy of our equipment and watched her charge at us crawling on the ceiling, was absolutely terrifying in VR.
one twin being crippled, slower, not being able to talk, plus us not knowing at the beginning of mission that lisa has a twin (which people would mention if they know the ghosts name) gives us some interesting but desturbing lore.
One important detail about the Twins, a Crucifix will only work if in range of the main Twin, and having a Crucifix in that range will also stop the decoy Twin from hunting.
I'm sad the banshee is relatively harmless now. I used to be terrified of that ghost (I was usually it's target) because it could hunt so early. I hope they intend to give the banshee some love in the future to be terrifying again.
Thank you so much for the breakdown! I've been picking up tips here and there on different ghosts by watching streamers, but having an updated comprehensive guide is godsend!
I need to add 2 things:1)hantu will never speed up during hunts, he only moves according to the temperature of the room; 2)obake will only leave 6 fingers for the right hand also obake will also show fingerprints on nightmare. But very well video indeed
One thing I didn't really notice popular players doing with the Yureis is the reverse of what most people refer to as a Yurei test. I've noticed that the smudge stick confines the Yurei to its ghost room, but it also sends a wandering Yurei back home. What I use is to catch a Yurei among a selection is that if it decides to cause trouble by roaming a lot outside its freezing/orb room, I set a motion sensor at the entrance to its ghost room and smudge the instant I catch it throwing/interacting outside the room(the further the better, and more motion sensors to observe its movement would be nice) and I watch as they move straight back to the ghost room and start doing stuff there again. If a ghost stays loyal to its ghost room, it's quite tricky to rely on this but a non-roaming Yurei should give its evidence reasonably quickly below Nightmare.
@@tformerdude6788 CJ seems to claim otherwise, although my last Yurei seemed to have passed my motion sensor at the doorway of Tanglewood Master Bedroom and Living Room, even though 1) freezing in the Bedroom 2) the Yurei did a throw in the Living Room, which I was waiting for to get a smudge objective completed. According to someone else in the comments' section, CJ says the Yurei traps it in its current room, but even if it was on its way back to the room, it would have been stopped right in its tracks if that was true. But this is also all based on memory so this could just be my faded recollection of the game.
@nuzzgard Mares also currently have a higher chance of roaming to rooms with the nights off, particularly if you've turned on the lights in its current room. Ive noticed this especially on the street maps with many rooms upstairs, the ghost will avoid the lights like the plague.
i really love the way they are going with the mimic, i was really hoping it could play back to you sth that you said like 10 secs ago. Another funny ability would be a ghost that can straight up lie to you, like on the spirit box and ouija board :D cooling down another room than the ghost room while not having freezing as evidence, one that messes with the player while not being that dangerous at all, just messing around, kind of a trickster or wisp
As I understand, Wraiths only teleport during Ghost Events, and Ghost Events always give out EMF 4 (possibly 5 since Wraith has EMF 5 as one of its evidences).
Maybe an interesting ability to give the Banshee to match its behaviour of zoning in on one victim is a reduced cooldown in between hunts, like it could chain hunt slightly quicker but not just spam hunts lol.
I know this comment is late, but my friend and I were playing a game in Tanglewood. We had a Phantom and it's ghost room was in a bedroom on the opposite end of the house from where we were, which was the garage. We got tarot cards and my friend pulled death, the Phantom started a hunt just outside the lockers we were in. It also manifested several times outside the lockers when we pulled several Devil cards. I believe Death just triggers a hunt and normally the ghost would spawn in the ghost room. So I think the Phantom (and I would assume the Wraith too) can initiate a hunt or interactions on top of the player not only if they have low enough sanity, but as well as if they were to say break the mirror, pull death in the tarot cards, etc. Just another thing to look out for that makes these ghosts all the more terrifying :). And yes we were on professional, but I believe we tested the ghost room after this happened and the ghost had not moved.
Myling's footsteps/sounds are inside of, or very close to the radius for electronic interference. I like to drop my flashlight during a hunt and watch it. If I can hear the ghost on the same floor and the flashlight is not flickering, I know it's not a Myling. Onryo also uses flames like crucifixes with a similar radius. Placing a candle on top of a crucifix at low sanity can help determine an Onryo, because it will always prioritize blowing out the candle to cancel its hunt. This means if the crucifix burns while the candle is lit, you don't have an Onryo.
Happy New Year Nuzz! i also did a Ghost rating for the actually play and i just want to share it with you (also i can explain if someone needs to know why i rated them this high or low and also its a rating for how dangerous i find them). what i would've liked to see is some photo's of the activity charts and other pic's for evidence. it would indeed cause for spoilers but i think showing it might be better then explaining. either way great video!
Something to add about the Wraith. If you’re holding an EMP that’s turned on and you get a level two and you’re not near any doors the ghost can interact with, it’s a Wraith.
Funny story about the shade. In the early days of the game we started a hunt on professional on the 2nd smallest map. As soon as we entered the house and checked the first room a hunt started. So we thought demon or banshee. Carried on the investigation after finding the room and hunts where happing constantly to the point that I was all that was left. I can't remember what evidence we had but it wasn't much because hunts where so frequent. So we determined it was a demon. Only for the game to say it was a shade. No idea why hunts where happing so often.
Happy new year!! Are you planning on doing another ghost Hunt in real life in 2022? I'm not sure what is local for you, but I found out about one near a place called Stoke on Trent that seems cool 😁
Maybe they should lean a bit harder into the banshee’s luring singing, something like if you try to get spirit box evidence it will lead the player with the box to a dead end room and start a hunt with them as the target. It could lead players by making the noise super garbled and only having it fix as you get closer to the dead end.
I think there are some very important things that u missed about the demon. He is a lot stronger than what was covered in the video. Firstly, smudging demon will stop him from hunting for 60 seconds only! Not 90s for the other ghost types and 180s for spirit. Secondly it not only have a higher chance of doing hunts but also the period of time between when the hunt can occur after another is shorter for demons (about only 5 seconds but with addition of increased hunting chance it can be scary).
Potential fix for the banshee to make it scary: Make it like deogen that always knows where the obsession is. Also, change it so theyre only ever female. Its more accurate & would be cool secondary evidence.
15:00 No, this is not a fun mechanic unless you're a super player like you Nuzz For the average players who hop on now and then, it was god awful obnoxious to see the Ghost constantly wander and change rooms The new mechanics where it's a slim possibility but dependent on difficulty and sanity levels is far better for the game, and even then the custom difficulty coming soon will probably give the ability to change wandering chance
I had an extremely shy demon yesterday. Was about to chalk it up as a shade and head out but waited until it moved a door to confirm no prints. Well there were prints and I promptly noped outta there
Something about the raijus, they can keep their speed boost even if they don't have line of sight of the player. So if your running don't drop your photo cam like you normally would, it's gotten me killed alot
I think the devs should change the Mimic, so that instead of always showing ghost orbs it instead will also show one piece of evidence from the ghost it is mimicking. For example if it were mimicking a Demon then it will also do ghost writing, if it's mimicking a Yokai then it will also do dots or ghost orb. This can make it harder to identify because it would show evidence from the ghost it is pretending to be in addition to its own. If it were pretending to be a Demon and you get prints, temperature, and ghost writing, it may fool some players who would mark it a demon without checking the spirit box. It can work against the Mimic and make it easier to spot if it changes the ghost its mimicking. An experienced player may notice the change in behavior and if evidence is not lining up. If it were mimicking a Demon and does ghost writing, then changes to a Goryo and does dots, an experienced player may notice this along with the behavior and figure out it's a Mimic. Overall, I think it would make it harder to spot, since it is currently easily spotted by experienced players. Even an amateur player can spot it easily, simply by checking for a possible extra piece of evidence before leaving.
Walked into a map today and had a demon instant hunt. We were in the ghost room for a total of 47s per the stat recap in the end and a total match time of 6 minutes. We escaped the hunt and selected the demon in journal and left lol
1:19 Technically that is false. The "passing through walls" is a reference to their special ability to teleport to the player and do interactions. Also, regarding the salt thing.. I was under the impression that any time any ghost steps in salt it increases their activity rate permanently for the rest of the mission. Does the Wraith have a higher increase percentage or am I wrong about salt increasing activity for all ghosts? (If it isn't true now I swear it used to be the case) Also also regarding the Yurei: CJ says that smudging traps it in it's current room, not the ghost room. (Unless of course it is currently in the ghost room when you smudge it) The hermit card however forces the ghost to walk back to it's ghost room and stay there, though.
I had a positive ID on a Yurei on Tanglewood that I smudged in the Living Room the instant after it turned on the TV(I was basically trying to do the smudge OBJ and I was waiting for an interaction) and my motion sensor outside the Master Bedroom(its ghost room) went off, suggesting it walked out the Living Room into the MB and it did a number of things there, including its multidoor close(prior to the change removing it). I don't know how valid CJ's claim is because there have been cases where a feature they wanted to work one way turned out working another way/not working at all.
When you die you get a % of the money back that you spent on all the items lost due to your death. The percentage you get back changes depending on difficulty I think
I just played 2 games in Nightmare, and I can confirm that the Jinn turned off the fuse box twice in each game. Which was very confusing because I was 100% sure it was a Goryo. Unless I turned off on its own because I had too many lights on. Next time I won't skip testing the ghost's speed I guess.
So, a Jinn can inadvertently turn off the fuse box by turning on too many lights, but it can't manually turn it off. A good way to check for this is by taking an EMF reader to the fuse box to see if you get EMF 2. If you do, then you know the ghost is not a JInn.
I disagree about wandering. I honestly hated it ngl. Whenever I would find the ghost room the ghost would basically just leave 2 seconds after I find them. The ghost room could be in the master bathroom in Tanglewood but would wander over to the garage. It was annoying beyond belief.
I heard somewhere that with the Banshee if the target is out of it's range for too long that it will pick a new one. Don't remember where I heard that and I haven't encountered one in a game yet to test this. I know they select a new one if the target drops out of the game.
Can an Onryo burn a crucifix that is placed next to a lit candle? Up until now me and my lads have used that particular action as a confirmation that the ghost we are dealing with isn't an Onryo, but we are not sure about that anymore as I can't find any reference on this
I am pretty sure Wraiths can travel through walls. I had one that started a shower, and then almost immediately (2 seconds?) knock something over in the adjacent bedroom.
I hope at some point they remove the "false" text in the descriptions. Stupid to mention things like they should impact the game, when in actuality they don't.
The demon explanation is right. Going after the demon with a friend, after he died and I was hiding the demon went on a hunt like rapid fire. I heard it then it went silent then I heard it again like 5 seconds afterward so I guessed demon and I was right.
great vid lured a lot from it, could I ask if you are going to do an updated version if it's needed, as of 10/4/22?, I was on a hunt a few days back, I had Ghost Orb, Freezing temps, and fingerprints, so my dumb ass thought oh its a Hantu, nope it was my very first Mimic
I have had a game today where the mimic mimiced a demon. it haunted in the first 10 seconds of the game. And later on it became a rajiu, of course the ghost room had all the gear active.... I pissed my pants during this round

On the flip side, leaving no footprints is a dead giveaway that you're dealing with a Mimic or a Wraith, and are relatively easy to distinguish since they only share one evidence (Spirit Box).
Yeah I agree, even before this update it always confused me on how becoming more active was a weakness
Great Video Nuzz it really helps out with finding things I didnt know about each ghost
I’ve never heard someone describe the mare that way. Such a perfect way to describe it
Raijins might be bugged, because I had one kill me at 80% sanity yesterday. Also, the Onryo straight up killed someone in the house 30 seconds after we we were inside, so the slight chance to instantly hunt is legit.
I literally came here to check because a fucking Raiju killed me at 83-85% sanity on Intermediate difficulty! Shocked me so bad.
@@sreeravi25 I’m not sure what they mean about sanity? Is it the state of mind of the investigator?
@@petrellaintuitiveinsights Yes, sanity means state of mind IRL. But in-game, its a mechanic used to determine ghost hunting triggers.
Just recently found this game. Posted my first experince. Caught me of guard for sure.
I didn't know about the Yurei being sent home by the smudge. That seems pretty useful.
Thank you so much for doing this. Long overdue by the content creators in this phas community. Well done!
I'm just recently starting to get into identifying ghosts by actions, instead of evidence and this has really helped. Thank you!!
I leardend me so much about all the ghosts from this video so thank you Nuzzgard
Really needed this, ive known nothing since Exposition update came out
Hope it helps!
You should remake this video with clips of the specific ghost interactions for next update. I rarely get the banshee scream
Great information since some new people might be confused with all the new updates
This is all I need for the new year! Thanks Nuzz, and a happy new year to you! 🎉🥂
And don't forget that if you get a random EMF 2 (No doors, no windows) is probably a wraith using the teleport.
As I understand, Wraiths only teleport during Ghost Events, and Ghost Events always give out EMF 4 (possibly 5 since Wraith has EMF 5 as one of its evidences).
Maybe an interesting ability to give the Banshee to match its behaviour of zoning in on one victim is a reduced cooldown in between hunts, like it could chain hunt slightly quicker but not just spam hunts lol.
i watched your videos earlier this school day on a school laptop and i must say very entertaining
Nuzzgard, thank you for the guide. Happy New Years and As always keep up the awesome job!!!
F Ghosts: Spirit & Shade
E Ghosts: Obake,Wraith,Banshee & Goryo
D Ghosts: Myling
C Ghosts: Poltergeist, Yurei, Oni, Onryo
B Ghosts: Mare, Revenant (yes i put him here), Yokai, Hantu, Twins
A Ghosts: Phantom, Jinn
S Ghosts: Demon & Raiju
S+ Mimic (i dont think i have to explain why).
This is what we need. Not a 2 hour long video explaining things like Shitsym
what i would've liked to see is some photo's of the activity charts and other pic's for evidence. it would indeed cause for spoilers but i think showing it might be better then explaining. either way great video!
Something to add about the Wraith. If you’re holding an EMP that’s turned on and you get a level two and you’re not near any doors the ghost can interact with, it’s a Wraith.
I was playing with low level randoms, the poltergeist multi throwed, i told them about it, they didn't believe it. Only me got out alive.
Myling also makes quieter footsteps when stepping on salt! :D It's a WAYYYYY safer and extremely reliable way to identify Myling.
This has to be clickbait, we still have 2021.. at least for me ^^
Happy New Year everyone and thx for this long awaited video :)
Thanks for the video, happy new year!
Happy new year!!
Are you planning on doing another ghost Hunt in real life in 2022?
I'm not sure what is local for you, but I found out about one near a place called Stoke on Trent that seems cool 😁
None booked at the moment due to COVID, but will definitely do more in the future.
@@Nuzzgard understandable, have a great evening ☺️
Ive actually had a mimic take the banshee's abillity before and then switch it mid hunt and then killed me, took me super off guard
they cant switch mid hunt its only inbetween them
@@otty6292 idk man, I walked through thr ghost several times during that hunt and wasn't targeted either then randomly died
Maybe they should lean a bit harder into the banshee’s luring singing, something like if you try to get spirit box evidence it will lead the player with the box to a dead end room and start a hunt with them as the target. It could lead players by making the noise super garbled and only having it fix as you get closer to the dead end.
I just hope that I don't get targeted by this.
All of this is good to know and I just got the game a couple days ago 😃😃🥳🙂
I think there are some very important things that u missed about the demon. He is a lot stronger than what was covered in the video. Firstly, smudging demon will stop him from hunting for 60 seconds only! Not 90s for the other ghost types and 180s for spirit. Secondly it not only have a higher chance of doing hunts but also the period of time between when the hunt can occur after another is shorter for demons (about only 5 seconds but with addition of increased hunting chance it can be scary).
Awesome video, I learned lots of new stuff :)
omg this is so helpful! thanks a bunch i love this game
Potential fix for the banshee to make it scary: Make it like deogen that always knows where the obsession is.
Also, change it so theyre only ever female. Its more accurate & would be cool secondary evidence.
No you are amazing. Ty for the content Nuzz
I actually baited a Onryo into attacking by spamming the candle drop in the dark last night. I think it does still work
15:00
No, this is not a fun mechanic unless you're a super player like you Nuzz
For the average players who hop on now and then, it was god awful obnoxious to see the Ghost constantly wander and change rooms
The new mechanics where it's a slim possibility but dependent on difficulty and sanity levels is far better for the game, and even then the custom difficulty coming soon will probably give the ability to change wandering chance
Addition to Yurei: If he uses his ability where he closes a door rapidly, he drains the sanity of people nearby at this time.
I'm not sure if it's been changed, but as of
@@lunar5842 Yup you're right. They are gonna change it to a specific radius instead od the room in the near future.
This is like if the truck radio guy was actually useful. Thanks a lot
I had an extremely shy demon yesterday. Was about to chalk it up as a shade and head out but waited until it moved a door to confirm no prints. Well there were prints and I promptly noped outta there
Great video thanks for the info 🙏🏻
Thanks for providing the information, I wonder what Nuzzgard's tier list of ghosts will be.
I got an ad at the perfect time it went: "so in the journal it says--- Meet editor x 😊"
Figuring out if a ghost is The Mimic or not is pretty fun
1:19 Technically that is false. The "passing through walls" is a reference to their special ability to teleport to the player and do interactions.
Also, regarding the salt thing.. I was under the impression that any time any ghost steps in salt it increases their activity rate permanently for the rest of the mission. Does the Wraith have a higher increase percentage or am I wrong about salt increasing activity for all ghosts? (If it isn't true now I swear it used to be the case)
Also also regarding the Yurei: CJ says that smudging traps it in it's current room, not the ghost room. (Unless of course it is currently in the ghost room when you smudge it) The hermit card however forces the ghost to walk back to it's ghost room and stay there, though.
Didn't he say that in the video
@@milotic3333 He described the ability, yes, but he claimed the text was merely flavor when it fact it is referencing the special ability.
Salt only increases the wraith's activity for the remainder of the mission. All other ghosts are unaffected.
@@Blitzcreeper239 How long ago did that happen, because the Yurei's smudge ability has been bugged until only recently.
Thank you Nuzzgard, I'm getting Phasmophobia this week and this helped me out
Also, what is insurance?
When you die you get a % of the money back that you spent on all the items lost due to your death. The percentage you get back changes depending on difficulty I think
@@boreragnarok249 Thanks
thanks this is the fastest guide no bla bla like others
I just played 2 games in Nightmare, and I can confirm that the Jinn turned off the fuse box twice in each game. Which was very confusing because I was 100% sure it was a Goryo.
Unless I turned off on its own because I had too many lights on.
Next time I won't skip testing the ghost's speed I guess.
So, a Jinn can inadvertently turn off the fuse box by turning on too many lights, but it can't manually turn it off. A good way to check for this is by taking an EMF reader to the fuse box to see if you get EMF 2. If you do, then you know the ghost is not a JInn.
Sometimes I’ve had mimics do not leave footprints after stepping in salt is that them mimicking a hunt
That's them mimicking a Wraith. Wraiths don't leave footprints.
Happy new year 🎊🎆🎈
Can an Onryo burn a crucifix that is placed next to a lit candle? Up until now me and my lads have used that particular action as a confirmation that the ghost we are dealing with isn't an Onryo, but we are not sure about that anymore as I can't find any reference on this
Thank you so much 😄
You are amazing, thank you.
so i got raiju as my first ghost ever...GREAT
You should make an updated version of this video.
I am pretty sure Wraiths can travel through walls. I had one that started a shower, and then almost immediately (2 seconds?) knock something over in the adjacent bedroom.
Do you think revenants need a buff?
I hope at some point they remove the "false" text in the descriptions. Stupid to mention things like they should impact the game, when in actuality they don't.
Mimic is just sooo underrated
Your mic looks like the new sound sensors in phasmophobia
The demon explanation is right. Going after the demon with a friend, after he died and I was hiding the demon went on a hunt like rapid fire. I heard it then it went silent then I heard it again like 5 seconds afterward so I guessed demon and I was right.
great vid lured a lot from it, could I ask if you are going to do an updated version if it's needed, as of 10/4/22?, I was on a hunt a few days back, I had Ghost Orb, Freezing temps, and fingerprints, so my dumb ass thought oh its a Hantu, nope it was my very first Mimic
thx for ghost info :D
Fun fact: you can find the wraith out if it does a ghost event and teleports right to you and it happens for a second you have your ghost type - Insym
I have had a game today where the mimic mimiced a demon. it haunted in the first 10 seconds of the game. And later on it became a rajiu, of course the ghost room had all the gear active.... I pissed my pants during this round
