My eyes were set in getting the KOA e with ES2 but cannot justify spending twice the price. I looked at the KOA with ES-B at $200 less but the sound is not as warmed as the ES2 in my ears. I asked the clerk to take out a new Mahogany off their storage and he brought back one without the electronic and it sounded so good. I ending up getting it and saved my self $600 to which I may be putting into an online lesson. I have been playing the Mahogany for a few weeks now and still amazed.
Wasn't expecting that...lol. That was some outstanding playing. Impressed me more than any video I've seen of these minis being played. Excellent video!
Koa sounded nicer. Mahagoni was warm but a bit muffled and unclear. Koa was perfect. Not as bright as spruce but great on a Taylor which is too bright for some people anyway with spruce top.
I ordered a koa this morning and enjoyed your comparison this evening. I’m very eager to play my new mini! To my ear the mahogany sounds very mid-range in response and the koa more dynamic and articulate. Thanks for your video!
I guess it depends on what I’ve got already. If my regular guitar was more like the hog, I’d keep the koa and vice versa, assuming I wanted an extended range or variety in my playing. I mean, why else have two different guitars? They both have pleasing elements in their sounds and, listening with my eyes closed at times I could not tell them apart, suggesting it’s not so much the guitar as the player who makes the difference. There’s a relationship there and my impression is, you and the hog have been together the longest and are more familiar with one another. Try this experiment after you’ve gotten to know the koa a few more months and see how it goes. Or give the hog a vacation while hanging with the koa and see how your relationship is impacted with both? Thanks for sharing them!
Same thoughts...I'm thinking I'll get the gs mini e koa plus as I prefer fingerstyle. Seems like there was a little more fret buzz on the mahogany. Nothing to do with the wood type, and it might just be me hearing things...lol

I've had my mahogany GS mini for 2.5 years now, it sounds even better. Just love it!

I have been trying to decide between the two and I have decided to take your advice. Buy both
Your playing was absolutely inspirational✌🏻💙🙏🏻
3:54 and 4:40 for better comparisons :)
Mahogany all day. I had a Koa and sold it for the mahogany. Couldn’t be happier.
I have the Mahogany and it’s great. Just purchased the Koa with electronics (2022 - mint) from Reverb for $550.
Koa sounded nicer. Mahagoni was warm but a bit muffled and unclear. Koa was perfect. Not as bright as spruce but great on a Taylor which is too bright for some people anyway with spruce top.
Wow! Just wonderful playing...
Thank you.

Glad this popped up in my feed. Great demo of what these can do.
The koa is definitely the livelier and vibrant instrument of the two. No wonder they charge so much for this wood.
Way too bright and plasticky for Koa. Mahaghony sounded more balanced and sounded like a real guitar.
Great Playing! Thanks for your review!
Koa wins for beautiful to see, Mahogany wins for beautiful to hear....but both sound really nice. Both guitars you could sit and play for hours.
Great playing

Thanks for this. Prefer the Koa
For me Mahogany sounds raw and organic and feel like a real guitar sound to me.

They both sound incredible. I will say that the Koa has a bit more richer sound.
Beautiful bro! 💪😎👍💥🎶
I played them both and that was my same conclusion.
Cual dirias que es mejor para tocar blues ? Gracias !!
I think I'd prefer the mahogany for the blues.
@@jasonbussellsmusic8828 thanks !!!!
E koa looks stunning and also sounds better. Would rather spent abit more to get this as money can earned back again 😊
Your favorite?
The Larrivee is all solid wood and is older, so it sounds better. But it costs more.
Koa 💯
Gotta teach me!
Lol...just got the e koa plus in new condition with all the paperwork for $800
Mahogany sounds better TRUTH
Agree. Koa for looks Hog for sound
Koa-E
