As I've understood it, you don't need to spend the amount of trophies before unlocking but to get that amount during that one session of the new pvp gamemode. Trophies carry over (at least according to the description). So you can save them up to buy some of the better chests but not the locked ones.
you have to obtain the number of gallant medals in your bag that are required to unlock the higher loot. It just means most players will have to wait and do the event 3 or 4 times before they have enough and can buy something juicy.
All they have to do in 1-4 people in edge arena is be friend in discord and defeat each other continuously while all players are a sleep and they can farm the coins to 100k easily

If items don't have a (1) (2) (3) ect.. next to the item it carries over and won't be useless in the next one.

you can see if it's a bot in a very easy way. if you challenge them and the have a server and/or guild they are real if not they are bots
