7/2023: I bought my Ultraburst HSS Strat almost one year ago. I love it. It's great having a humbucker and when I split it, the single coil pickup sounds just like an early Strat. The middle and the neck are the new noiseless pickups but the one at the bridge is different. I like it. The whole guitar is superb in every way. SS frets should have been included by Fender, but you know how "they" are. The frets are fine. Nothing not to like. I'm using a 65' Reissue Super Reverb and I also have a Tone Master Twin Reverb. I've had two Strats in the distant past. I'm 71 years old now and I've been playing drums since 1964 and guitar a bit later. P.S. Very nice playing. Best Regards All
Folks, there's a reason why there's hum at 4:18 when he switches to 4th position, and later when playing bridge only: the humbucker is split right when he switches, meaning only one coil is active, so it's the same as a true traditional single coil, aka NOT NOISELESS. Notice how the hum goes away immediately when he depresses the S1 switch to un-split the bridge pickup and send it back to being humbucker. There's no way to split the 2 coils of a humbucker and have the resulting single coil be noiseless--the way noiseless single coil pickups work is by adding a second coil. A lot of people gripe about how this makes them "humbuckers," which is kind of technically true but they don't really work in the same way that a humbucker like the bridge on this HSS works, where both coils are picking up the strings (the 2nd coil in a noiseless pickup is typically stacked underneath the top coil and designed only to remoive noise). Because of this, tonally, pickups like these Fender noiseless sound very close to the original single coil, but without hum, though it's obviously taken Fender a lot of iterations to incrementally get the sound closer and closer to the traditional Strat/Tele sound. Of course, you're still going to have people complaining no matter what that it doesn't sound exactly like their 1950's Fender.
you have not tbx you have not 25db boost not pure bypass switch so, not perfect at all dude! ! neither neck pickup+bridge pickup as single coils together
Thanks for pointing that out. Was considering one of these as I thought the humbucker would be a useful addition but I play mostly in position 4 (on an SSS strat) and as that's not noiseless on the Ultra HSS (when you split the humbucker) then that rules it out for me.
@@mattfreeman2648 i would consider getting a second hand fender elite series HSS from like 2016-2018 or so, those guitars are fantastic. The Elite was a lot cooler than this new Ultra. The Elite has an s1 switch but it functions like the SSS version, but it also comes with an extra button between the two tone knobs that functions as a humbucker bypass switch, it ignores all the switches and pots and gives you 110% power from the humbucker. If you turn the volume knob down you can use it as a killswitch too, and if you want you could swap it out for a coil split. The guitar is completely noiseless in every position, and it has an amazing neck profile, it starts as a C shape and flattens out to a D near the upper register, it feels amazing in the hands and has an amazingly smooth satin finish. They even had more color options too. They have locking tuners and you can go nuts with the whammy bar and it stays in tune great. I couldn't recommend a guitar more than the 2016 era Elite Series Fenders!
Impressive tonal range from this Fender Ultra Strat HSS. Very expressive playing by Isaiah Sharkey. These newest noiseless pups seem to have more punch than the Elite N4 series. Great demo!!
Wow. This is just amazing. Not just your playing, touch and feel. I am in Europe and we don't have a guy like you to present. So relaxed softly spoken and let's your guitar work speak for you. Can't wait for your 2020 vids. All the best to u and your for 2020
I don’t understand the complaints. I remember the noise of EVH’s guitar at my first real concert in 84, standing 5 feet away from the cabs at a Testament show, or the same while Derek Trucks played through a super reverb so close I could have sat on it, and I was thrilled by the sound of a cable going into a guitar for the next song. Or hearing the amp turned up so much you could hear it ready to melt your face right off. Now people want low stage volume, silent coil taps...man that’s just not rock n roll.
you have not tbx you have not 25db boost not pure bypass switch so, not perfect at all dude! ! neither neck pickup+bridge pickup as single coils together
Fender once made a "double stack 12x4 amp, just like the Marshall ones. I had a guitar player that had one. I've got a 65' Reissue Super Reverb. Kicks Ass!
I've got the player plus version of this guitar, so it was a good amount cheaper, but it looks exactly the same. It just doesn't have the neck heel cut. And the bottom tone knob can be lifted on mine to activate the neck pickup in positions 1 and 2. It's pretty cool. The neck feels amazing. I can't even imagine how good this one feels.
Via RUclips the single (tapped) bridge pickup selection is actually quite a bit louder than the humbucking position. I don't know if that's an anomaly with the mic or RUclips compression or if it's actual, but that is surprising. Anyone have one of these who can confirm?
Oh, man. That's beautiful playing. I never learned how to do hybrid picking, but every time I see someone do it this well, I feel like I want to give it a shot. Will it take years for me to learn the basics?
Hi, I'm looking at the HSS ultra. Goal is to get sounds like alchemy Sultans of Swing, Pink Floyd pulse, Eric Johnson cleans and solos from the FM9 MK II turbo You get the trend. All while having the option of a nice humbucker. I am confused with all the reviews saying that hot pickup and the split don't deliver that classic strat sound that well and I should get a non-hot pickup SSS. Please suggest guys

I compared a Cort G280 DX that is worth the price of a fraction of these Fender. I preferred the Cort. I am a lucky man, I would have money to celebrate the new year.
I bought myself a kiesel with basically this exact design around May because fender didn’t have any stray with this look as far as I could tell, then they released it several months later...aight whateva
If anyone is selling a set of 5th gen noiseless strat pickups SSS please hit me up and I'll buy them ASAP, lefty trying to build my own Ultra Strat here :/ What an expensive project this'll be...

I really Love how he plays. Of all the ultra strats video (tenth’s) i’ve come across this is the best, in my opinion.

Fender really upped its game.
Great playing. I haven’t heard of him but will find some of his stuff now. Looks like a nice guitar for about $1800. I even like the color.
He's playing in John Mayer's band at the moment. Listen to this: ruclips.net/video/UQ5EMgTv5Kw/видео.html

How does it different with American Pro HSS?
American pro doesn't have noiseless pickup also neck heel cut for upper fret access...ultra has compound radius but pro is straight 9.5
Narrow tall frets on AM Pro, Medium Jumbo on Ultra. Rolled edges on Ultra neck.
Looks like a guitar Tosin Abasi used to play back in 2011 and five years later.
Alnico 5 for the pickups or not? we don't know

Hum was on the bridge pup when split into single coil mode
Much of the noise was generated in the rig setup.
10”-14” radius, D shape profile, and more money that’s in your bank account.
