More information about the video content bellow:
1. Before becoming a territory, varying cultures of indigenous peoples and historic Native Americans inhabited Indiana for thousands of years. Since its founding as a territory, settlement patterns in Indiana have reflected regional cultural segmentation present in the Eastern United States; the state's northernmost tier was settled primarily by people from New England and New York, Central Indiana by migrants from the Mid-Atlantic states and from adjacent Ohio, and Southern Indiana by settlers from the Southern states, particularly Kentucky and Tennessee. In 1816 it was admitted to the union.
2. Wabash, Indiana was the first electrically lighted city in the World. Wabash is notable as claiming to be the first electrically lighted city in the world, which was inaugurated on March 31, 1880. However, closer inspection of the reference shows only the court house grounds were lighted. Charles F. Brush of Cleveland, Ohio wanted to publicly test his new invention, the "Brush Light", and Wabash, Indiana agreed to test the lights. On March 31, 1880, four 3,000-candlepower Brush Lights mounted atop the courthouse, illuminating the city with a flood of light. The glow was visible at a mile’s distance, and about 10,000 citizens witnessed that milestone in the history of electricity
3. Indianapolis, is the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Indiana. Indianapolis was founded in 1821 as a planned city for the new seat of Indiana's state government. The city is perhaps best known for annually hosting the world's largest single-day sporting event, the Indianapolis 500.
4. The very first peacetime train robbery in documented history happened just outside of Seymour. Local boys the Reno Gang (otherwise known as the Jackson Thieves, named so for the Indiana county they called home) pioneered the gambit on October 6, 1866, swiping over $10,000 from passengers headed east. One fateful day on October 6, 1866, a particular gang by the name of the "Reno Brothers" thought it might be a good idea to rob a train. They did it right in Jackson County in Indiana, making off with a hefty $13,000.
5. Long before Hollywood and the music industry got a hold of the Jackson 5, as well as the King of Pop, the siblings with their stepping and soulful voices found their beginnings in the small town of Gary, IN.
6. There is a town in Indiana called Santa Claus. No, really!
7. The farming community of Newport, Indiana (now Fountain City) became known as the “Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad” for helping more than 2,000 runaway slaves make their way north to freedom. Many families in the state of Indiana sheltered runaway slaves before and during the Civil War.

Whenever I tell people I'm from Indiana they think that's in India 😐😐
Lol. That's.. weird
Either they're idiots or you're lying. I'm from NY and no one has ever thought that that I've ever met and I just moved to Indianapolis too.
@@francisluglio6611 well I'm in middle school and we haven't memorized our states yet that's probably why

Xx vxlekzz960 xX ahh. Yeah, that's the way it goes. Stay in school, it got me a high paying job here in your state. Go out and explore and learn and enjoy what you can from other places but remember that
*the only fact I know is that our weather SUCKS*
Our seasons in a nutshell
Spring-*snow*
Summer-*welcome to the rainforest!*
Fall-*-200
Winter-*- 500000000000000*
YEP
Yesssss! So true this is like the 2th Christmas in a rough we have no snow and we have snow on Easter and there is a heat wave on Halloween
Indiana weather in a nutshell:
Winter: -99999999999
Spring: *extra slush sir?* no. *THEY WANT EXTRA SLUSH!*
summer: *flaming ball of sadness*
Fall: *so..... You want to freeze?*
Don’t forget the millions of tornadoes
Indiana weather like in spring: low: 20 degrees, high 75 degrees, Tornado warning!!! cant be indiana without tornadoes
Approved
Oh and don't forget, the potholes only get bigger , the wind making the rain feel like needles hitting you and I hope you like lots of leaves lol
It would be pretty cool if stranger things was actually filmed in Indiana and not in Atlanta Georgia

Some more neat facts of Indiana I would like to add since I am a Hoosier...
1) The first basketball backboard made from glass in Indiana was installed at the Owensville High School gym.
2) Evansville was a major World War II contributor. It is home of the LST cargo ships that were used at D-Day. Also the P-47D Thunderbolt fighters were built in Evansville. My grandmother was a “Rosie the Riveter” on the Thunderbolt.
3) Corydon was the first capital of Indiana before Indianapolis.
4) Abraham Lincoln spent his young years growing up around Dale Indiana, which is next to Santa Claus Indiana.
5) Holiday World, located at Santa Claus, has the nations top rated wooden roller coasters. It is also the very first theme park in the nation, way before Disneyland.
Thanks for these facts, Derik. They're quite interesting.
Vincennes was the first capitol city of Indiana
Dale Holbert. I can see technically you are correct of Vincennes being the first capital city in Indiana, but not of Indiana. Vincennes was the capital of the Indiana Territory 1800-1813. This territory included Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Corydon was the second capital of the Indiana Territory 1813-1816. Corydon remained the capital as the state of Indiana was established in 1816. Indianapolis was the second capital of the state of Indiana in 1825.
Vincennes was never the state capital but was the first city inside eventual state of Indiana that was a capital.
I’m sure some people who will read this reply will be scratching their heads and trying to follow what the Indiana Territory/State capital thing was back then.
Don’t forget, a man by the name of Elwood Haynes created the first AMERICAN car in Kokomo Indiana
Most famous thing from Indiana Michael Jackson
In regards to item #7: You will have a lot of difficulty finding Newport, Indiana (weird name- there's no river or lake anywhere near by) Try looking for it's new name: Fountain City. It's about 10 miles north of Richmond on US 27.

Back home again in Indiana
As far I know
Indiana is no relation with us (Indians)
But its was a fault by coulombs (some one like that name ) called native Americans as Indians ....
And so that place called Indiana land of Indians .
.
"The word Indian came to be used because Christopher Columbus repeatedly expressed the mistaken belief that he had reached the shores of South Asia. Convinced he was correct, Columbus fostered the use of the term Indios (originally, “person from the Indus valley”) to refer to the peoples of the so-called New World."
Yes they called the native Americans Indians but the resin we were called Indiana is because the French Canadian who fond Ohio because he wanted to bring pride to France by getting land in America but Ohio had lots of natives in it and kicked them to Indiana which then other people came to and had peace with the Indiana and they both became U.S.A states actually Ohio the 17th state and Indiana the 19th state. If I got anything wrong pls correct me? 🇺🇸😀 #indiana
