- Bit of a mash up this week. The planned trip of 250km was a no go so did what I could. Managed to get in an FTP test with it but they went to pot as well. Should have stayed in bed this week.

Try a ramp test next time Derek. Very accurate and you don’t need to pace yourself. Just cycle on ERG mode until you can’t. Awesome content as always 👍🏻
I used to do a ramp on trainer road and it was perfect. On this zwift ride I must have had the wrong setup. I literally couldn’t turn the pedals once any real power was needed. I think I had to use the gears 🥴 will have it properly going for the next one at Xmas. Thanks a lot pal 🤙

Love watching people suffer lol - Wells one to persivere and do it 4 times. I did my FTP test the other day from my caoch Bryan McKinney. Day 1 of testing is sprint tests, then day two is a 6 min effort followed by a 20 min effort. After the .95 caculation I was at 259 which is 10 points up on last test. Good but aiming to get back up to 310 ASAP.
Interesting way of doing it. I always use trainer road but trying zwift and it went to shite on me. Same here pal, I’m full focus on dropping weight and getting proper fitness back. I went easy for too long 🤣 suffering is on the cards till Xmas
Glad I’ve got sram!! sounded like abit of a going on having to take it to the shop for an upgrade. I hate the ftp test you’ve got to be in the right mood for it. I prefer to just ride and let strava estimate it.
Friend of mine has Sram Rival and it stopped working. Needed to update everything via the phone app, not that he realised that at first. Took over a day before he'd worked it out and painstakingly went through the process. Sometimes I wonder what was wrong with mechanical.
@@Quizmate1 the thing is how can it just stop working when not updated. I mean how does it know it needs updating and why was it working fine upto that point 😂 just another of life’s mysteries.
It was a bit of a mad one. First time that ever happened after using both shimano and sram for years. I say that myself sometimes what was wrong with mechanical and rim brakes 🤣 but I do love the electronic gears, I couldn’t go back. Your prob right on strava. Need to be in the mind frame for it, it was last minute and it was all going wrong. Disaster wasn’t the word but either way it gave me reality check I needed. By Xmas I’ll be back on track.

Think you would be better with a gravel bike IMHO, slap a set of road slicker gravel tyres on and you are good for road and light gravel. You do any other gravel you can swap the tyres over or get a second set of wheels. don't think Deborah will sign off on a third bike when you want a gravel basher ;) lol
No she won’t, second one is still not got the green light yet 🤣 yeah I hear what you’re saying, I was kinda thinking along those lines as well. I’m really enjoying the gravel, great to be off the roads
@@derekfeehan Does the Roubuix have mounting points. A good gravel bike like a diverge/crux will be near enough as fast on the road with the right tyres. Would you be able to get a loaner of both types from Spec?
@@tefer1982 I’m fairly sure it has mounting points. I’ll def check out all the options before I pull the trigger. You have me thinking all scenarios now 🤣
@@derekfeehan Ha Ha.. If you do any proper gravel bashing then it will all make sense. I used my gravel bike in the road for a bit before buying the roadie was grand. Sometimes the gearing is better (for hills) with gravel specific too. I mean this is all hypothetical, you still have to get sign off from the boss 🤪
How’s the zwift bike going ?
I’m loving it. Great piece of kit. Tried an FTP test the other day and I dunno what way I set it up but couldn’t get it going. Think I’ve it all set up properly now for next time. Controls on the handle bars are brilliant. Don’t have to move anywhere. Can all be controlled from the bars
