Actually the Fiat has been holding up well. I bought it with 10,000 miles on it and it now has about 44,000. The tire pressure sensors no longer work but who cares.
Well it happened. My Fiat 500L transmission went out at 46000 miles. Gear not available was what I was getting. Fiat said new transmission $8000.00 the car is not worth that much. I called the junk man they gave me $1275.00 for it and I junked it. Never again will I own a Fiat
Having commented on the bird poop at 1:58, this car is a quirky and fun entry to the US ideal of a big car in a small package. The Trekking version looks sporty with fun wheels, and the backup camera on all models is well placed. This car is perfectly placed with the Kia Soul...they really need to make an electric variant just like the Kia Soul electric set to come out this fall! Kudos to Fiat for entering the US market with a fun product that keeps the others on their feet :)
This is actually a good value, especially if you take advantage of desperate dealers trying to move units. It's amazingly roomy, as long as you're not heavy on cargo.
I'm buying one of these for my first car eventually I will put a MagnaFlow exhaust system on it correction K&N does not make a cold air intake for the Fiat 500L but at least don't have to worry about the air filter for a long time
Fiat Please forget the automatic, and FIX the Dual Clutch for 2016 since you punted on the 2015 by offering an automatic. I know at least one potential buyer personally who skipped Fiat due to specifically that bad shifting trans.
All these people hating on this car yet you clicked on the video knowing what that car looks like. Americans honestly don't deserve cars if all they're going to complain. You'll complain about how this car looks but you'll buy a Volkswagen beetle or those tiny electric cars that are half the size of a beetle! All y'all see is trash because Y'all are focused on the sportier side of things. Guess what? Ferrari's and Lambos are the most efficient of cars half the time.
Different people will want different things from their vehicles. I like the 500L because it's almost like a little van with really good visibility. I wish it had AWD, but throwing good snow tires on in the winter time will fix that problem, and with global warming winters here in New England don't really seem to be a problem anymore. The only thing that worries me about this car is I've heard horror stories about the transmission. I know some people who love the Kia Soul, I know some who hate it. I know some people who cringe at the Hyundai Veloster, others love it. In order for a company to find their market they need to take risks and separate themselves from the competition. FIAT does, if nothing else, separate themselves from other brands very well.

Sorry for late report, just seeing how Americans are rating sth made in Serbia. This car is indeed made in used-to-be-Zastava factory that also made Yugo. Fiat decided to buy the factory in 2008 which meant shutting down Zastava.
Fiat should stick to competing against MINI. This thing is hideous and trying to target American's with a 1.6L engine isn't going to go far. Might be big, but that isn't what American's are *JUST* looking for.
