I fell in love with him in this movie. I like Richard Burton, but prefer Richard Harris singing the Camelot. He act like a joyful boy, his eyes are so innocent, oh, and his voice ...Vanessa was so pretty too. I liked the movie so much could watch it again and again.
I once saw an interview that explained the major difference between how Burton and Harris approached the role. Burton's Arthur sought the crown. Harris' Arthur had the crown thrust upon him.
I love Richard Harris, especially as King Arthur! It would've been interesting to see Richard Burton on Broadway, but Harris has a sweet, boyish charm that gets me every time I watch this, and I've watched these clips alot! I think he's so much more attractive and appealing than Franco Nero. Vanessa, what were you thinking?!
The first musical I ever feel in love with but not the last. The minister's wife was a bit weirded out when she came over for coffee and found six-year old me playing in the sandbox and singing The Lusty Month of May at the top of my lungs!
i was alway so frustrated that she didn't love him back. i could never figure out what was up with her i mean her king was so cute to me (when i was a kid) and he was KING and he loved her i couldn't figure out what she was rocking the boat for. this move always frustrated the shit out of me as a child. i guess i was too young to understand any of this kind of thing. this movie always killed me because of that. id'a loved the king. my eyes would not have strayed. but i gotta say, i mean the music and the lyrics, so incredibly clever it is just astounding how clever the lyrics are and how they so much a part of the story and moving the plot forward.. but the story was so sad to me as a child. especially when we knew king arthur from a boy. how frustrating his wife did not love him in the end.
I feel the same way! I hated all the love scenes of Lance and Guinevere. They should've been with Richard. I do think, at the end of the movie, Guinevere came to realize how much she cared for him, but by then, it was too late. That clip just kills me, but it's so well-acted, I just have to watch it.
I was also exasperated that the queen preferred Lance over King Arthur. Arthur had everything a woman could want: handsome, brave, noble, a champion of justice, creator of a more Democratic government. Franco Nero was handsome, but I thought he was a very poor actor, and his singing was dubbed. Vanessa Redgrave is a stellar actress from a distinguished acting family. Why she not only preferred him in "Camelot" but then married him in real life is beyond me!
Yes, they made a great couple before Lance came along. I never liked him, and I didn't think he had much talent (his voice was dubbed.) I found out he was chosen for his looks, because he looked like the part. Ugh! I'd take Richard Harris anytime!
I saw this movie in L.A., when the movie first came out, with my Jr. High School Theatre Arts class. What a grand experience that was. Ran right out and bought the album. Franco Nero . . . sigh.
it seems like many musicals from this era did the hard work of creating original music with incredibly clever lyrics that advanced the story, that were part of telling the story. i mean it was another level really. i love Shrek, but there is no original music in it even though the music is really good, it just is lazy compared to this , or the music in the jungle book. such hard work to be so clever.
Did anybody notice that that forest gulch became green in FINIAN's RAINBOW, filmed the next year after CAMELOT in Warner Brothers. That was also the gulch with a brook running through it in FB. And then tey added the drawbridge through which Og chased Susan the Silent.
How we get Hugh Jackman and Emily Blunt to bring Camelot back to stage or screen? I'd prefer screen seeing I will never get to NYC to see a Broadway show.
Thank you Griffith at least your taste in musicals was not wrong

The berserk outtakes brought me here. It did not disappoint.
I saw this in the theatre so many years ago & loved this film. I still love these actors & have followed their careers.
My favorite musical.

Our music class in middle school actually went on a field trip to see this movie and I of course fell in love with Lady Guenevere. How could you not?

Maybe it was Lancelot's big blue eyes. But I agree, loved Richard Harris as well. Bawled my eyes out at the end of the movie.

Oops, didn't get to the "leaves falling into neat little piles". One of Richard Harris' best.

Vanessa Redgrave never looked lovelier. The song is among my favorites from films.
After moving I conclude based on the weather Camelot is actually Southern California
They just dont make movies like this anymore......Venessa Redgrave....so young, do beautiful.....
Vanessa. I once gave her sister, Lynn, directions to a public restroom.

1:34 reminds me of a certain outtake from a 1990’s anime
Berserk
Did you watch the bloopers from the movies
Harris was wearing more makeup than Redgrave
He was wearing more makeup than everyone else combined.
True, and he hated it, from what I've read.
Sounds like a nice place to live.
I was 6 years old when I first saw this and I really thought he was King Authur, the real person..He was that convincing..
I nominate Hugh Jackman and Emily Blunt to bring it back to the Silver Screen.
Its forgotten to be mentioned that legendary Richard gave a stirring performance here.cute is whats used to describe Danny/ Sandy in Grease
I had a crush on Sir Lancelot!

Hugh Jackman and Emily Blunt need to bring this back.
Wow. What a great idea. I don't know if my heart will survive Hugh Jackman as Arthur, but I am more than willing to take the chance. 😍🤩
@@anndownsouth5070 Too bad the people who would have Jackman's and Blunt's ear will never see this idea.

Metro Vancouver is becoming more and more like Camelot:
It rains late at night when most sane people are in bed.
This guy was also Albus Dumbeldore
Few people realize it on their own, but Camelot is a Christ story.

Wait. This isn’t NLE Choppa?
Nle choppa anyone?
Bro I searched up Carmelot by nle choppa so I watched this 😂
So this is his mating song.

He strangely looks a lot like Jude Law as young Dumbledore.

Cheap sets. Clunky staging. Terrible make up. 😪
