Watch this in full match replay at 1.57.20 it's a clean catch and it was 3rd empire decision and the leg is clearly inside the rope. Even if it touches the rope the ball was in the air at that moment

during fielding fielder couldn't decorate the rope properly after sliding....according to icc rules if both teams don't notice that any portion of boundary rope isn't placed properly, the displaced rope is treated as original boundary....so in this case it was clearly a catch....it doesn't matter if the rope was displaced somewhere in the middle of the match

Boundary was extended by Henreich ,South African fielder while fielding in first over.
Most of times in most matches boundary cushion in some areas stays further back than the original positions. The ball has to hit or touch the boundary cushion to give as a a four or six .
Boundary was rattled by Hendricks inn first innings while virat scored 4 on 0.5over I.e. 5th ball of an innings. This boundary readjustment was intact for 38 overs.so ideally it's a clean catch and Noone fidgited it.
If anyone has kept something on grass for a long time that mark was there, that boundary line was adjusted for this match.

Its fair catch because grass displaces other near grass and therefore that other grass which not in direct contact of foot may little move boundary board. It it would have been rope no issues would have happened.

Seems like most of the people are not aware of the boundary rules of cricket. The boundary in cricket is decided by the current position of the rope, not by the white lining. Hence, had the rope moved a little forward from its place, it could have very well become a six and nobody could have argued about South Africa scoring a six by moving the rope forward. Similarly the rope having moved slightly backwards doesn't make Surya's unbelievable catch as illegitimate. This is very much a part of the game. It's an absolutely legal catch as per the ICC rules and probably the best catch in the history of world cup. Only dumbasses will try to argue on this one.

Two reasons why the catch is controversial
. First, the third umpire's hasty decision without looking at the camera from another angle. Some have suspected that Suryakumar's shoe may have touched the boundary cushion while catching the ball in the beginning. It could be clearly seen if viewed from the opposite angle of the camera. However, the umpire made a decision based on watching from one side.
Secondly, when Suryakumar took the catch from outside the boundary, it was seen that the boundary cushion was pushed to two inches.
According to ICC rules, the boundary line is not the rope or the cushion. It is surrounded by a cushion a few inches above the rope. There is an ICC rule that this cushion should not move. If it is found to have moved, the decision should be taken assuming that it is in the original position.
Section 19.3 of the ICC Playing Conditions states, "If the solid object placed to mark the boundary is found to have moved for any reason, it must be remembered that the boundary was previously in place."
This means, if it has moved on the cushion, it is not considered a boundary. The place where it should have been before is considered as the boundary. When Suryakumar took the catch, there was a gap between the boundary rope and the boundary cushion. His left leg is between the cushion and the rope. If the boundary cushion had not moved, Suryakumar's feet would have touched it. It is not clear when it moved. Perhaps it had moved before the catch was taken.
If this catch had been recognized by the third umpire, it would have been a six. Had the first ball hit a six, 10 runs would have been needed in the remaining 5 balls. Miller could win the team. South Africa would make history.
There is a lot of controversy on social media about this catch. Critics have accused India of winning the World Cup rather than winning it.

This is totally unnecessary. Third umpire watched it 2-3times and gave it out. Umpire in question was Kettleborough, an respected official. I have seen it multiple times and came to conclusion that during the flow of the match at original speed it would be given out 90% of the time. Everyone should accept that. Shaun Pollock is satisfied regarding the catch. Even suppose SA got rough end of the stick, raising cacophony now isn't going to change the result. Where do India come into this? It would have accepted the decision if it had gone the other way. All former SA players are drumming up the incident implying India used unfair means to win. Did Indian team or BCCI make the decision? Why blame India? 90% commentators said the better team won. Just leave it at that.

The boundary line should be white only. In NFL we have many incidents like this but because field of play clearly marked w white color only than no controversy develops. I think ICC at fault. Second I believe match referee didn't have any other angle to view so he stayed w out decision which clearly showed it was clean catch. And 3rd I have seen similar catch in another match. This is not new. There is no controversy. It was amazing catch, India has won the game that's why losers are making all the excuses. 😂
