- Something I thought I’d never see running on my layout with the challenging inclines, my Hornby Virgin Pendolino with underpowered motor and traction tyres, managed to purchase a Dapol power car from Railway Modellers Club member Josh S and went about swapping the body and all internal pcb, lights and coupling, came up against a couple of problems like the Dapol wheel sets didn’t run well on code 75 track, swapped them out for a set of spare HST drive wheels, need to sort out the gears as they’re not quite a match but still runs good, now I’ve got a fully metal chassis with central motored twin flywheel and driveshafts to all wheeled bogies, no traction tyres and runs up the incline as a 9 car set without any issues

Bought this as a 4 car pack when I started out into dcc over 15 years ago, added some additional coaches to make it a 7 car set and now a 9 car, have you read the description to what I’ve been doing to it so it’ll get round this layout 😆
Just read it. Sounds like it’s been into the works at Derby and had a full refurb. What happened to ready to run?🤔. How long did take you to put this right? Looks great running.
@CHESEABUN 🤣 does sound like it’s been in for a major overhaul, not been too bad a job, probably a couple of hours in the evening on Monday and Wednesday, just ordered some Bachmann drive wheel sets to replace the temporary HST ones , might bring it round yours to give her a proper stretch 😃
Had a run on the layout today. Everything is spluttering. I think it’s the cold. The locos don’t like it. Needs a full track clean when the temperature drops like this. It’s like being in a fridge where the layout is! Not fun!
Had to pop the heater on over the last few days to take the chill off the garage, nice and warm in there at the moment, will be having a run later today to check everything is running okay
How did you get the body off the Dapol coach?
There’s two small screws behind the rear of each bogie and gently ease the body off
