My favorite is still the first album.. Although I'm not religious anymore.. That album was such a huge moment for Christian rock.. Along with plankeye and P.O.D... But yeah the first album and Collide.. I always preferred the harder stuff!
I found them originally from WWE. I tried to listen to their stuff before Awake. But I got to admit I can't really listen Skillet pre Jen. I feel like she was like the missing link they needed. It's like everything she does is amazing. Yes she is also very beautiful. But she is WAY more then that.
@@generalred6260 same man my favorite band I just I noticed on every album they got some heavy stuff them they got that one smooth song that just sticks out on every album
My absolute favorite band. I like five finger death punch and avenged sevenfold but it’s like any time I hear a new skillet song I have it on repeat and I preorder their new albums. Can’t wait for Friday
I've been a skillet fan since day one they have got me through a lot of Dark Times and they are still helping me I will always love their music I have been to every concert and they are amazing plus Jen you are so hot I love you on the drums but the vocals and everything else are just powerful and such moving
The whole band is amazing. But Jen is not only my favorite member of the band. But she is my favorite musician and "celebrity". Her music changed and saved my life for the better and has brought out my emotions when I rarely show any. I have no issue admitting Jen has made me cry in both happiness and sadness.
Honestly, I think having Rock music with a positive direction and feeling is great, no everything needs to be either melodramatic or painful, or even depressing
That's one of the biggest reasons why I love Skillet. In a time where we have thousands of bands making songs about depression, addiction, relationship problems etc., it's nice to hear music that has wholesome, positive themes while still having the same energy as other hard rock bands
@@thekawaiicrewR I agree completely, their music has lifted my spirit and energy on the inside, and also in a time where largely music is built upon sex, drugs, and cursing almost 5-10 seconds, its still really awesome and nice to have Skillet's music around, and Adelitas Way as well in a shout out
I'm with Metal Melissa. Reading the lyrics while listening helps develop a deeper understanding of the song and helps the song resonate with the listener. Not to mention the fresh disc smell is a cologne I would wear if made 😁
Not only is their music like awesome, but theyre just amazing people. Im not Christian but Im in love with their music, it gives me inspiration and hope. Respect👌😏
Love this band always be my favourite band. Found them when was in a bad place depression wise and they always say how I feel and inspire me to be better keep me going love their songs
I was listening to invincible the other day while dealing with some pretty deep depression when god reached out and touched me. This song will forever have a place in my heart
I remember when they were just three guys from Memphis, TN, who would come down to Tupelo, MS, where I live, and perform practice shows at a place called MegaSports. They really are genuinely as nice of people as they seem. "Paint" and "More Faithful" will always be my favorite tracks.
I discovered skillet way back in like 2002-03, even saw them live twice. I had long since stopped listening to them (really just Christian music in general), and then like 10 years later I hear a song on a hard rock radio station that couldn’t have been any other band. I looked it up and was shocked, they actually hit it kinda big! Good for them!
I was surfing youtube music videos and came across Skillet heard hero, and monster! I have loved the music and am looking for new songs! I really love awake and alive live audio! Thank you Skillet for waking the dead and the living such powerful songs to heal, strengthen us to know how to fight the battles of life!!
I think it's all about where you are in life to like or dislike something....Love, Death, Loss, Happiness, Greaf, Joy whatever...there is always that one song that relates to the situation you are in right there, right now and that's music to me...And it does'nt matter if it's rock, rap, blues, jazz, pop, etc...it's just music that makes you feel something the moment you hear it :-) That's why I love when different genres collaborates , cause in the end of the day it's just music no matter where it comes from ? And YES I LOVE Skillet !
Skillet is just so awesome. for me they never made a song i didn't like. i love every song! they are and still are my heroes for getting me thru darker times. the songs are really uplifting and can give you the power to face everything! you guys gave me an awesome childhood that means a lot to me. thank you Skillet for everything, i love you guys.
Victorious: The Aftermath is a killer record, just like Unleashed: Beyond; I listen to these albums practically on a daily basis. Can't wait to hear what the follow-up to Victorious will be.
I got to see them by chance at the Brat Stop in Kenosha, WI circa 2004. We went to see the headliner, Slaughter. Anyways, great show. This band knows how to construct solid rock songs with some amazing hooks. Dig it...
He nailed it. I first heard them in their fourth album, but their fifth album hooked me. I'm an old metal head from the 80's and when I heard him mention us old metal heads I was like "yea...that's me". This band is amazing. They don't get enough credit. They Rock....
I couldn't agree more.. They are talking about why Comtose is such a fan favorite and how they are trying to figure out why and how to give that again to the fans.. Comatose was great because of Collide.. If they want to make another album like Comatose they need to listen to Collide again.. I know everyone loves Jen.. And I'm not saying she isn't a good Drummer.. But she can't touch what Lori did on the drums.. Jen is too robotic.. And that's coming from a Drummer myself.. Jen just doesn't really bring the dynamics that Lori brought.. That along with what you said about Ben is why they haven't reached the level of those two albums since.. They have come close.. But nevertheless still miss the mark! Jen needs to loosen up and learn to play some ghost notes and more creative fills.. And the guitarist needs to expand his creativity as well..
21:50 I felt that… like I literally felt that when he said it… and I’ve never met Chester either, never saw him live or anything like that… so that really hit me…
This was a good interview, but I'm surprised John dominated the answers to all the questions. Nothing wrong with being a chatterbox (I'm one myself), but I'd have liked to hear more from Korey, Jen, and Seth.
Used to be a major fan of the “newer” era of this band. Everything from Comatose to Rise in particular is great. But Unleashed and Victorious (so far) haven’t done it for me aside from a few songs and eventually I fell off with this band (not because of those albums but because I like heavier music now). However,I really do respect this band and I’ll at least check out this album simply because of the nostalgia.
@John Cooper, girls in rock well let's take a trip down rock history lane, Heart, Joan Jett, The Runaways, Vixen and so on. I am a Panhead and will always love Skillet's message. God bless yall!
