A discussion on sand lol …The color of the sand depends on what it’s made of. Sands derived from volcanic basalts will be black a common feature in the Canary Islands volcanic islands etc. The orange sand dunes in Utah are quartz. The white sands in New Mexico are gypsum. Some sands in Florida & Canary Islands are white & Sometimes the sand contains iron which will give it different degrees of yellow. There’s red sand too. Sand is often formed by oceans wearing rocks down into tiny little pieces, so you could say the color of the sand depends on what color the surrounding rocks are?
