    My wife has this same condition. It started in one eye and she described it as a "grey blind over the top of her vision". A year or so later, it happened in her other eye, just not as bad. She's on medication and she sees the retina doctor every six months. Fortunately, her condition is stable. I watch your channel almost daily and I wish you the best and, hopefully, your condition will not get worse.

    Yeah, mine encroached from the upper left quadrant and eventually crossed the center line on a diagonal, leaving me with peripheral vision only in my bad eye. That stayed stable for several years until one day, bloop. All blackness. So it was glaucoma that finished off what retinal cancer began. I've had the fun of radioactive plaque sewn to my eyeball for four days, I've had the joy of needle-in-eye stoicism, and I'm down to one eye now. Whole things gone, taken out. Along with socket tissue, so I can't even get a cool Sauron false eye. But hey, it's a GOOD life.

    Its tough , but with simple lifestyle changes you can possibly get off the BP meds. For me I mostly stopped eating processed food, only have fresh meat at dinner if I have meat that day. (no processed lunch meat for lunches) I also pretty much stopped eating bread., I quit chips and junk food. no pop/soda or anything sugary. No beers/ alcohol during the week, only weekends.(2 beers max at a sitting.) I allow myself a junk day which is usually Saturday when I treat myself to chocolate covered almonds, drink more water. Started biking because my knees hurt when running. Lastly try to reduce stress if your life, I still struggle with this because I just stress-out over everything and get anxiety etc.

    I only share this out of good intentions, but apparently John Milton wrote paradise lost when he was blind. I hope I am not a fool and incorrect about this. But maybe the path with writing can go on even if the issues regarding your vision get worse. Love your work, and the videos you post, often when I’m depressed I flip on one of your reviews and it makes me happy. Probably preaching to the choir you probably already know this.

    I'm 27 and have dry-eye disease which, unfortunately, is an autoimmune condition. Basically I have to go through many hoops to stop my eyes from feeling like sandpaper all the time. I understand what you're going through, it really sucks when your primary sense is compromised. I mainly listen to audiobooks because of this condition. I highly recommend audiobooks if you have trouble reading. If you can find a good narrator they're great. Good luck with everything.

    In 2004 at age of 24 I had a vein growing into my retinae causing swelling. Symptom was that a straight line was no longer straight. When you would look at a raster it is like one part you see a distortion like a water drip is covering that part of your eyesight. At that time the only solution was burning the bleeding by lasering. As you said it wont heal anymore, my sight in my left eye is down to 70%.
    About 4 years later I got it in my right eye. Luckily medication was developed where they indeed put a needle in the white part of your eye and put in a very small amount of medicine. Bad thing is... Its not preventable. I used to have good bloodpressure, excersized a lot and ate quite healthy, but still got it... That said, I have had strong eyesight issues my whole life and did wear contacts at the time. Since I stopped wearing contacts it hasnt happened again...
    This is slightly different from your affliction. But I guess the treatment is the same. Luckily for me the treatment really worked.
    Wish you all the best, take your vitamens, excersize and take care of yourself, you cant trade in your body and eyetransplants is something I've never heard about yet...

  • @chernz722
    @chernz722 2 года назад

    Brian! This was such a great explanation- I really appreciated it. My question is: can the shot halt the swelling right where it is so that you have some vision left? Or is it just a matter of buying you time and slowing down the swelling? OR is it more of a wait and see how you react to the medication thing?
    PS: Thanks for including a link to buy some of your art! I just ordered a beautiful eagle notebook from your shop.

    Hey man, I know I'm just another person that is yet again preaching and you probably heard this many times, but if you have those crazy blood pressure spikes and if your doctor recommends you a diet/ lifestyle change you should really think about it.
    And it doesn't have to be boring, just buy a fitness watch as walk a little, you don't need to hit a gym. It's easiest to make small changes, don't go from 0 to 100% and never try to reach 100%, just 80-90% of your goal.
    Same with food, don't need to go crazy just change of junk meal to something you make at home.
    I'm saying this because I've seen my both grandparents go through regular stroke and while it's not the worst way to go, what often happens is that you have minor stroke, it damages your functionality and brains but you carry on and it slowly takes a little bit of you.
    Seeing my grandpa after a stroke, while being very lucky because he had all his physical function... He was just so out of it mentally and it took almost decade for him to come back to more his regular self, but then he had second one.
    I know it's a bit of a downer comment, but it's suppose to be. That shit made me look at my health seriously.
    I hope you can make some changes because this shit can get worse.
