[新居浜太鼓祭り] 大江浜かきくらべ /船御幸 Niihama Festival in Japan. Shinto ritual held for the first time in 6years.

新居浜太鼓祭りの川西地区の最終日。
大江浜かきくらべから船御幸を観覧致しました。
船御幸は諸々の事情で今回6年ぶりの開催。
海上安全と豊漁を祈願し、太鼓台が神社のみこしのお供として船に乗って海を渡ったといういわれにちなんだものだそうです。
しかし潮が高かったのか太鼓台を台船の上に載せるのがえらいこと大変そうでした…。

It is said that the Taikodai is said to have crossed the sea on a boat as a companion to the mikoshi of the shrine, praying for safety at sea and a bountiful catch.
