This is as close as the original piri piri. Just a little rectification though. This is not orinally from portugal but from Angola who were colonised by Portuguese who exported the recipe as theirs. It's a common sauce in central Africa with different twist. Thank you for spreading this amazing sauce from Africa
Thanks for sharing. Presentation was fun filled. I like your voice. I was born in Mozambique; left when I was 8. My mom used to grill full chicken with the same sauce. You just reminded me of new year's eve in Beira Mozambique.
i commend you for explaining the substitutions that you made to the real recipe. many tks. i have seen here in youtube especially the Americans, talk about the real recipe. lolllllll they made up recipes as if were real. its horrible for me that grew up with Piri piri chicken. indigenous people in Mozambique called it pipi-piri and not peri-peri. :-) good work.
Definitely making this there was one spice I didn't get did you say that you use mace??? Either way got to try this I love anything with Heat!!!! All the ingredients in very authentic I could probably put that on everything!!! Just 💙the spice😰
I think you've got this back to front. The Portuguese brought it from Africa so it is African and the words Piri Piri mean pepper pepper which is from Mozambique..Nice dancing I like :-)
The chilis was brought from South America to Europe in the 1500 and then brought to southern Africa, and then back to Europe again later on with it's new name, Piri Piri..
Hi. A portigues (resident in SA)man bought of a chicken grill resturant in Johannesburg. South Africa that was closing down. He took over and introduced Nando's chicken which is now an international franchise. Using all peppers grown locally
Hello from South Africa! So I was on the right track. I do scorch my bell peppers, but omit onions and add dry white wine. I should try with onions next. Great vid😘
Not originally from Portugal. This comes from former Portuguese colonies in Africa like Mozambique and Angola where the African bird eye chilli comes from. The recipe for the most part seems to be mainstream.
loved everything ... BUT this did not originate in portugual ....peri pili means hot in swahili... its native to all the countrys you mentionned ... the portuguese brought it to europe ... one love
S.O.S. I just made the sauce for the very first time, and it resulted to be to spice for us. It is possible to add a little water to relieve the heat? I hope someone will read my comment. Many thanks!
The colour comes out too weird if you do this! All green peppers become either yellow or red if you let them ripen. Problem is if they were picked early they go bad before ripening.
Why, why, why, why, do people find it necessary to play music in the background, it is so annoying, do you want us to listen to you or the music? STOP IT.
you are wrong. The piri piri is Mozambican not Portuguese. The birds eye chillie was used for seasoning before the Portuguese created Mozambique. the Portuguese took Red eye chillie to other African countries but the real origin is malawi.

Hi Fafa whats the song name?
It’s my theme song
DAMN YOU IS BANGING!!!!😆
veio de moçambique

To reduce the level of heat add more lemon juice or vinegar . Add a little honey or pineapple purée to balance the acidity.
Thank you, I though to add plain yogurt like on the Indian dishes.
Ndudu by Fafa the heat can be lessened by reducing the peppers.
hey dear.. here we don't have red chillies and red bell paper.. can we use green bell paper and green chillies?
The colour comes out too weird if you do this! All green peppers become either yellow or red if you let them ripen. Problem is if they were picked early they go bad before ripening.
What is the last ingredient that you put and said "SOME DRY MAISE(?) "
Mace
Can u marry me?
I love this kind of recipes 😍😍😍 what is the traditional sidedish of the chicken? Ordinary rice or potatoes?
yes
+DAROUECHE Andjizi Thanks for watching 😘
merci à toi, bon courage
You can come live with me if you like !
I wish I hadn't quit eating meat
You can still enjoy it with any Vegetables you have (like grilled Cauliflower)
Piri piri souce is more hot 🥵 or you ?
There is no part of this video I do not love.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Much appreciated 😘😘
Tried this recipe step by step. Same ingredients and it tastes absolute horrible.
My guess would be the thyme... Thyme doesn't really fit . And I don't know what mace is. And of course, lastly: birds' eye chillies are different...
That's so hot! And I am not only talking about the Peri Peri! Lol! You have got moves girl!
pamela Edoho Lol 😂😘😘
