Pop Goes The Joker Bat Poles
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 фев 2010
- The Joker accidently trips the Batpoles and goes for a ride! Note: He never makes it to the Batcave as you see the landing pad lifts up to meet him coming down. Not sure how he missed the red bat-phone?
p.s. Alfred removed the "Bruce" and "Dick" signs because he was painting the batpoles.
From "Pop Goes The Joker"
No matter what version of Batman you're watching, Alfred is always a badass.
Damn right. Watch him as he punches Penguin's nose👊 🐧 👃in "Enter Batgirl Exit Penguin".
That's why he now has Pennyworth.
That's how bad-arse he is...you can't hang with the Bats if you can't take what is being dished out
Sean Pertwee was excellent in the role of Alfred Pennyworth in Gotham. But then again, Sean’s dad was a Time Lord.
Funniest Batman episode ending ever! Alfred beats Joker at fencing, Joker has his "ups and downs" and is literally begging Alfred for mercy!
The one man to stop the joker, Alfred.
One mu😢st remember that in his young days Alfred was in MI-6.
this episode was hilarious alfred making the joker go up and down the pole like that i couldnt stop laughing
I know me 2
stuart hough I was hoping Alfred would drop trou and pee down on Joker's head while cackling madly!
Same here lol
@@BrianBattles oh that would have been funnier i wonder what the joker would have said about that
@@BrianBattles that would have been funny to c
I recall Adam West and Burt Ward talking about how painful it was going up the Batpoles simultaneously with that hot steam compressed lift! They were asked that question by a fan at Comic Con a couple years ago. It must have been painful for Caeser Romero too. ha ha ha
The Joker sounds like he was getting fucked up the ass.
Stunt doubles
Adam west is my favorite Batman forever and ever the tv series was excellent
@@krislaicu9920 I agree! :)
@@rsprockets7846 They didn't use stunt doubles much or at all on the show, I don't think they had that kind of budget. I know that Burt Ward was in the hospital five times from on-set accidents.
RIP Alan Napier! I truly enjoyed your portrayal of 'Alfred'! 🥰
you forgot Adam West and Cesar Romero
And Madge Blake
"I really shouldn't take pleasure in another creature's misfortunes, but...occasionally, one may be forgiven for a slight twinge of satisfaction."
It me.
Sounds like schadenfreude to me.
Well said Alfred, well said.
1) "Don't touch that!" Well, if ever there was an invitation to touch something, that would be it!
2) "He mistook this for a secret passage" Yes, a sliding wall that hides something is never a secret passage. Why, everyone knows that wall leads to the Batcave. Hardly a secret.
Yes, but only Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson , and Alfred can enter the study room. The book case to the Bat cave is their secret. Hell, so is the Bat cave.
@@johnbockelie3899 What, is there a sign, "Aunt Harriet, Keep Out, You Nosy Old Hag!"?
Notice the signs are missing. Alfred took them off while that area was being repainted.
@@8avexp
The sign that says, "Aunt Harriet, Keep Out, You Nosy Old Hag!"?
@@DIESEL0759 no, the "Bruce" and "Dick" signs on the Batpoles.
The nerve of the Joker calling Alfred old pal after all the trouble that criminal clown did to the public.
“We Anglo-finks have a long memory”
I love the way he told Joker to fuck off there.
The Joker ain't so crazy when he gets very scared out of his wits.
That's because he was no match for Alfred! Lol
Every object in the Bat cave has a sign telling what it is.
I always thought Frank Gorshin's character The Riddler was crazier and mentally unstable than the Joker!!!!!!
This was funny as hell. I bet Joker won't ever go into another home and snoop around in secret passage ways again.
Jane...stop this crazy thing!!
Wrong show, More like Alfred...get me off this crazy dumbwaiter!!!
Joker Jetson?
Alfred's just a gem, isn't he?
Yes it is
Damn Joker! If you let Alfred kick your ass, it's time to retire dude.
To be fair, Alfred is an ex-SAS/MI6 operative. Just about anyone will lose to them.
My headcanon says before he left and got with the Wayne family, he helped teach and train a certain MI6 agent we all know.
One of my favorite scenes in the Batman TV series. The arch-criminal, the Joker begging Alfred for mercy.
I love the Joker Screaming in terror

Also I love Robin’s Quip
“He’s currently having his ups and downs!” 🤣
It was good that the Joker didn't notice the Batphone in the study at Wayne Manor or he would've remembered seeing it at Gotham City Police Headquarters in Commissioner Gordon's office during 1 of his visits there.
Even if he did wouldn’t Bruce Wayne have a direct line to Gotham’s hero
In the other episodes, behind the poles it says "Access to BATCAVE via the BATPOLES" in bold stencil on the wall.
Cory Renkenberger A very good point. You suppose Alfred was cleaning the lettering that day instead of the Bat-Uniforms? LOL
+Cory Renkenberger +Devin Drew It was probably painted over.
v=XPqnQDle81c
There was an explanation for it in the show.
Dick (Burt Ward) mentions it when he and Bruce (Adam West) start down the poles in the first episode of this 2 part story. Something about Alfred (Alan Napier) fixing up the Bat-pole shaft.
Cory Renkenberger In case they forgot
The truth our parents didn't/couldn't tell us! These weren't young people doing all these crazy fun stunts on this show, but young old folk; and we had the best fun watching! Cesar Romero (1907-1994) was 59 years old riding up and down that pole screaming for his life!
I'm not so sure. When he comes up, you can't see his face so I suspect a stunt person was used. He was only needed for the closeup at the top.
Stunt double
@@rsprockets7846 Doesn't look and sound like a stunt double to me!
These freaking legends.
That a smart way throwing Joker off track so he can't find himself wearing an Robin costume, making any connection between Robin and Dick, nice going Alfred good job and nice job Alfred's the hero in this episode.
Alfred old pal ! Have pity !

Alfred Thaddeus Crane Pennyworth: I really shouldn’t take pleasure on another creature’s misfortunes but occasionally one maybe forgiven for a slight twinge of satisfaction.

@@spiritgirl41192 Lol.
@@zekecasperanddeadpoolzgroovyst Well said, Alfred.
This is cool because it’s the time audiences ever got to look down the Batpoles.
YES! I always wondered what that view looked like. I still wonder how far down the Batcave is from the study. I know it's just a tv set and it's maybe 15 feet or so, but thinking in real time.
Alfred sure felt happy making the Joker so scared by having him go up and down the batpole and was glad that the clown prince of crime didn't tell anyone about his ordeal at Wayne Manor.
He’s too embarrassed
That was quick fast thinking Alfred!
Looks like Alfred's got things pretty well under control.
First time I've ever seen the 'view' down the batpoles, thanks for posting
chewie211171
And the "only" time you ever get to see that view...shame it wasn't included more often
Some days you just can’t find an emergency bat pole elevator.
Lucky Alfred knows where one is.
Alfred was trolling Mista' J decades before Dr. Strange was doing similar to Loki.
That must have been the most hilarious episode.
And this was one of two times when Alfred outwitted the Joker, the other being in "The Joker's Provokers" when he stood in for his twin cousin Egbert (aka "Eggy") as the night watchman at the Gotham City Water Works. Hilarious!
Love the fact that they made Robin make a pun
It would've been funny to see the Joker crying while Alfred was making the arch-criminal go up and down the batpole via the emergency batpole elevator he built because the Joker caused so much trouble to society.
Alan Napier was a class act!
Yeah he was and was in so many fun to watch B movies.
Smart thinking Alfred. Since Joker already went down Dick's pole. Lucky Alfred didn't get around to washing their costumes not only Joker would find himself wearing an Robin costume or an Batman costume but he would made the connection between either Dick Grayson and Robin or Batman and Bruce Wayne to finding out their secret identities like his other artists failer crooks if Bruce didn't let them knock him around a little bit so they don't make the connection between Batman and Bruce Wayne.
Something bout the joker yelling up and down the poll makes me laugh
0:11 Lucky Joker didn't spot the Batphone next to Shakespeare.
I wish he.had of spotted the Batphone setting there, then the episode would have turned out much differently.
Alfred is the most powerful character in all of DC. Change my mind.
It's fortunate that Batman's and Robin's name was conveniently missing at the pole.
🤣🤣
As was the sign that said
"Access to Batcave Via Batpoles"
I see that The Joker did not see the Bat phone..
@eantnay Alfred was painting the Bat-poles and removed the signs
I watch this n I'm completely back in my childhood lol watching it in the living room on the family tv. Thanks for sharing.
0:56 that time where joke was less of the clown prince of crime and more of a grandma
Omg just imagine if The Joker actually did end up wearing a Bat costume. It would just be WRONG.
Tom Spencer He would have to trip the "The Instant Costume Change lever" on the way down. But regardless, the gig would be up. He would end up in the Bat-Cave. where he would look around in shock & bust up laughing. But yeah, if he trip that lever & showed up in the cave wearing a Robin outfit!! Ohhhh that would be so wrong. HAHAhaha..heeheeheehee.
Tom Spencer It could be worse... He could end up wearing a Robin costume...
He was actually on the pole that Robin used...
True. The last thing anyone wants is to see joker in a shortpants. We can barely tolerate Ward.
That’d be funny.
Batman,Robin & Alfred were lucky that Harriett Cooper didn't decide to come into the study to see what's going on after The Joker tried to get away and went down the batpoles after accidentally hitting the batpole switch that leads to the Batcave under Wayne Manor or there would be serious explaining to Harriett Cooper about it.
Well if you recall in this episode, Alfred removed the signs to put a new coat of paint on the Batpoles (as Bruce himself explained to Dick in the opening scene of Part 1) otherwise, Aunt Harriet would have had a fit if she found out about Bruce and Dick's true identities as Batman and Robin.
I always had the impression that Aunt Harriet was too gullible or unaware to realize what was going on, so even if she walked in, she wouldn't have made the connection.
@@Woody615 even know Aunt Harriet wouldn't made the connection I think Joker would made the connection only if he did find himself wearing an Robin costume.
Yep she would definitely be very unhappy about her young nephew going on those dangerous fishing trips.
At :28 you can clearly see the bottom of the poles as well as the "Compressed Steam Batpole Lift" switches on the wall which suggests the Bat cave is only 10-12 feet below ground. Had Joker really been on the pole that long he would have seen the Bat cave several times. Still a great show and always will be.
happyjack880
According to literature I read the bat poles were approximately 200 feet long from the top of Wayne manor study to the bottom in the bat cave with a device that automatically changed their clothes on the way down or up which defies scientific far less logistical explanation .
Naturally there wouldn't be 200 ft long poles on the set and in reality they were about 5-10 metres long and it would be rather difficult to manufacture a pole of the length in the script without having joins in it especially ultra smooth bordering on unnoticeable for safety.
So I'd imagine that a fair bit of artistic licence would have been employed for this particular scene which by the way is the only scene in the entire series in which you see an individual sliding down the bat pole in the cavity between the bat cave and Wayne manor and ironically it's neither Bruce/batman or dick/robin but it certainly wouldn't have hurt to have that view from time to time
Remember some of these episodes, Great TV for kids those days, Probably in black and white
>.> If I was the Joker, I'd be laughing the entire time. That looks like a alot of fun. :D
Luckily the Joker didn't read the sign between the buttons that says "Batpole".......
Curious to see down the Batpoles like that. Nice clip!
" Good job, Alfred, lucky thing the Joker never got close to the " Instant Costume Converter"...............Or judging by the Bat pole , he'd come back in one of Robin' s costumes!!!,
Sorry Old Chum , ha, ha, just the thought".
"Gosh, ....thanks Batman!."
P.S. there was a switch shown on an episode that Bruce hit that read on a sign " Instant costume converter" . it was at the base of the poles in the Bat cave.
Joker grabbed whatever pole he could, thinking the safes in the basement? Alfred had great security, emergency switch. Money was well guarded, even the batcave?
Actually Robin is wrong .the Joker isn't on Bruce's pole, he's on his pole. " Imagine Joker coming up in a.Robin costume!!," " Batman. where is Joker?". " I believe. He's having his ups and downs.," " I mean it. Batman, WHERE IS. JOKER ???".
@@johnbockelie3899 Robin replies,

You know the one thing I always liked about this show is that Batman/Bruce, Robin/Dick, and Alfred all three of them know each others identities but only call them by the appropriate name. Like if they’re wearing their costumes they’re Batman and Robin if they’re in civilian clothes they’re Bruce and Dick
It’s amazingly impractical that the Joker didn’t figure out the pieces that Bruce is Batman from this moment.
Bruce let himself take a slight beating at the beginning of the episode to allay suspicion by looking like an inferior fighter, and earlier in the series Joker had already seen Bruce and Batman (actually Alfred in disguise) in the same place so he "knew" they were different people and had no reason to connect those dots
How does the joker miss the big bold black lettering saying
"EMERGANCY
BATPOLE
ELEVATOR"
(In all caps to make it even more clear mind you)
You'd think that would be a dead give away. All the times going up and down you'd think the joker would look at the buttons Alfred is pressing. Eh whatever I'll just chalk it up to shark spray repellant logic I suppose.
You don't need to be literate to be an arch criminal.
What a lucky break that the signs Bruce & Dick were not there when this occurred.
Who needs Batman when Alfred I there.😁😁😁 RIP Alan
haha i love the way alfred sends the joker back up tot he top of the batpole than sends him back down and just assumes he wont get off at the bottom
This is the Batman I remember, the new ones are all right but this just hits right.
So many wonderful stars were on that show. Many more wanted to be because that was the "thing" back then.
But the Joker never noticed the Batphone on the desk!
Alan Napier is the best Alfred ever
Just like Death of the Family.
THIS Alfred is the best Alfred. He really has the Alfred (comics) vibe.....and skinny. Nice to see him having a bit of fun, eh ?
Who is his relative again ? Brad Pitt or someone like that. Someone fill me in.
That chick really scares everyone with her loud voice. You think there's some Bat-emergency whenever she speaks. Must be a stage actress, with her 'projecting' voice ( and the strange way she talks).........n-n-n-not good for TV.

This actually came from Part Two of the story, which was called "FLOP Goes The Joker."
Let's hear it for uber Alfred boys and girls. ☺
This is the funniest ending of all the Batman episodes.

Alfred must have known before hand that the Joker was on the.way. That's why the sign " Bat cave via.bat poles," was painted over. The Bruce and Dick signs were.gone. and the bright red Bat phone was stashed away.
wow i remembered this episode..but i was so young i couldn"t remember if i"d actually seen it or drempt it up..so after watching all the episodes they have on the hub i thought if you can pretty much find anything on yopu tube..i looked it up and here it is...that"s funny..20 years ago and somehow this one always stuck in my mind....
I find it funny how Aunt Harriet could never put two and two together and see right through their costumes and notice that it's Bruce and Dick underneath those costumes.
Lucky for Alfred, the loyal butler to Bruce Wayne, pushed the emergency up and down button to make the Joker surrender to Batman.

It's a pity that in all the episodes and stories in the Batman series that this clip is the only one that shows the batpoles in this perspective and the clever use of lighting gives the impression of depth and distance of the 45 foot long poles. There is an episode that features Bruce midway down the pole flicking a a costume changer disable switch before reaching the batcave
Was the switch flick in the movie or another episode ?
uh o I love this part.
The only time you got a look of someone actually seen Someone Filmed Going Down and up the Bat Poll's.
Haha haha Alfred you sly fox nice one
On any other episode, theres a sign that says...to the batcave! And the poise are marked, Dick and Bruce! Conveniently those signs are gone here!!! 😆
Looks like The Joker has his “ups and downs”.
What i always wished for was for them to do a flashback episode and tell the story of Bruce losing his parents and how he ended up with the Batman gimmick alongside Dick as Robin.
That wasn't necessary as any bat fan would know what happened
ALFRED OLD PAL! HAVE PITY!
Good thinking, Alfred.
I've seen the entire series so many times I can't count but for some reason this episode is completely escaping me, I don't remember this at all!
This episode’s parody of the Pop Art movement was inspired, but, at the time, very confusing to a young boy.
Alfred is secretly savage ...don't mess with an angry britt
Those last lines summarize my life.
The Joker was sure dumb going down the batpoles and he called the secret passage the dumb waiter.
azure rainbow Wikipedia dumbwaiter... They were also found on Three Stooges episodes...
Who needs a home security system when you've got Alfred Pennyworth!
Go get him, Alfred!
Dick's pole is thin. that's one that Joker went down on, lucky Alfred didn't get washing Robin's costume because not only Joker would made it down to the Batcave and found himself wearing a Robin Costume because like his artist criminal gang he would made an connection between Robin and Dick Grayson if he is smart enough, and Robin's identity would been exposed.
@Scott Luther Joker did flipped the batpoles switch but Alferd didn't get around washing the both costumes so Joker wouldn't not find himself wearing either of the costumes and Alfred do hit the emergency batpole elevator switch.
@Scott Luther I met Alfred did not turn on the wash machine.
