In my personal opinion, genocide isn't the worst ending. Neutral is. In genocide technically no body has to be trapped anymore.. But in neutral, it can go from Sans being to heartbroken to tell Toriel what you did to Paps, to Undyne being depressed because Alphys went 'missing' after you kill Mettaton.
Fun fact: If you kill either Mettaton or Undyne, Alphy's will "go missing" as you said. Many people believe that she commits suicide, or runs away. But I think suicide is the most logical answer. Ok maybe it's not that much of a fun fact
