CrossFit has fizzled for me over the years, but the last straw (draw? 🤷♀️😅) was the tragedy at the CrossFit games this year. I haven’t been able to watch any CrossFit event/competition since I saw Lazar go under in event 1. It’s so sad.
I'm a Hyrox girlie and I'm absolutely hooked! The advice I've picked up: to get better at Hyrox, do less Hyrox workouts. If you do lots of 'hyrox style' workouts (so compromised running / HIIT) but you don't focus on strength training, improving your running (speed work and long runs) then you won't make much progress! And I've found this to be true. My training split includes a heavy strength day, 2-3 runs, and one more HIIT style workout per week! Personally I love Hyrox as I've found it to be accessible, when I started I was a very casual gym goer but I saw the race layout and I thought hmm I can definitely train for that. Interestingly, I've become more interested in CrossFit - curious to try it out but CrossFit classes in London are quite expensive! With Hyrox, you can train most if not all the race specific movements in even budget gyms. Definitely give it a go one day, you'll have fun in sure! ✨
Crossfit has 100% Peaked and how they handled / allowed the tragedy at the games this year was very poor. Hyrox is 100x more accessible, No Olympic lifting, No gymnastic movements, you know what's coming up and therefore less daunting to the mass public. Completed my first Hyrox Comp last weekend with no training which im actually going to do a video on! Why I wanted to do it... I just enjoy doing difficult things and having a goal in mind for training, gives me more focus/purpose.
Offical Hyrox coach here…I think Crossfit has peaked and becomes a mainstream training. People are always looking for something new and Hyrox just fills the gap. It will peak too and decline too. Basically both are nothing new, just new combinations of different exercises which makes it exciting. Both won‘t disappear but will become normal. Choose one or do both. Move and have fun in competing. We have a tendency to talk too much and do too less.
It's not complicated & there are no gymnastics based exercises to learn. Muscle ups on the rings, handstand push ups & walks etc. It is simple stupid & enjoyable.
CrossFit HQ has made bad decision after bad decision since they started firing their media team. They thought they created a machine that was unstoppable. Those daily videos were everything. We knew every single competitor at the game. Now I don't even know who half the competitors are.
I think the CrossFit nation has declined a lot but Hyrox looks boring. Something that’s the same always is boring to watch… what makes CrossFit fun is how different and creative the wods are.

Big dogs always thinking they’re the littlest. 😂
Your skin looks amazing. Need to drop a routine!
I haven't heard of this at all, but now that I'm watching this video I bet it'll be all over my social media 😂
