There's wayyy too many teams in the MLS now. Need to have relegation rules in place. Too bad American sports markets aren't familiar with the concept.

@@changeisalion They are, but MLS isn't about football. It's about stable, high profit margins for owners and investors. Everything in the league is second to that. We don't have it, because MLS investors would never have invested in the first place if they didn't know their return was stable. MLS is basically just a hedge fund.

You also have to have a defense to prevent goals. Goalkeeper can't do everything.

It’s nice to see that Cincy is already in midseason form. This was a dominating victory for Austin, but I can’t tell if Austin is actually good or if Cincy is just that horrible. The same FC Dallas U-15 boys that thwomped the USWNT 5-2 would probably have no issue doing the same thing, if not worse, to Cincy.

Ok, I realize Cincy faced adversity over the years. They leap-frogged from USL to MLS, and in a faster time than any other team has. They’ve had a non-stop revolving door of players & coaches. But they’ve had strong financial backing. At what point does the team actually start to improve? Half of the roster should’ve been cut in the off season, including the useless, overpriced players like Brenner & Acosta. They have no clinical strikers. The midfield has no possession skills & always fouls the other team. And as usual, Cameron was all alone on the back line again. Everyone else made basic defensive mistakes that most high school teams wouldn’t make.
This aged like fine wine.

I didn't see this as a 5-nil route of FC Cincinnati by AFC. I saw this a handful of decent chances that got by a less-than-modest goalkeeper having perhaps an "off" night. I don't care if that's an unpopular opinion. I'm just being honest

As an outsider this is what I mean when I say MLS and US soccer should stop pandering to Mexican Americans because it is lazy marketing. Soccer is a global game not only a Mexican game that people from every continent love. Texas has three teams just because it has a big Mexican population and they are nearly all the worst attended teams in MLS. You would think Chivas USA failure would stop the pandering, but Austin FC call themselves the Verde and Spanish Mottos in their shirts. That is too far and I don't even think Mexican Americans like the pandering either. To me this pandering seems like corporate white guys who don't know soccer thinking only Mexicans like soccer. If you look at the MLS teams who get the biggest crowds and sell out the most games, it is Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Kansas, Minnesota and LA FC and none of these teams pander to any single group and just represent their region and are inclusive of all people. LA FC could have pandered with the huge population of Mexican Americans in LA, but they didn't they said they would represent multicultural city that is LA because they didn't want to be another Chivas US where you are only appealing to one ethnic group and it has worked because the embrace what Mexican American fans bring to their supporter culture, but because they have been more inclusive they have Korea fans because Asians also love soccer, British and European fans too because they love the game too. That should be the blue print because the Texas teams prove the pandering doesn't work.
There is no pandering. It's the culture & Austin FC is very inclusive.
