The evolution of our small tropical garden in the Netherlands, from the very beginning in 2019 till summer 2023. Our garden is located in the south west of the Netherlands, USDA Hardiness Zone 8a / 8b.

This is amazing, you live in the Netherlands, and have USDA Hardiness Zones 8a/8b. I live in the Florida Panhandle, about 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, and my USDA Hardiness Zones are 8a/8b, with 9a on the coast. Today, 23 December it was 73° F (23 C.) & 55° F (13 C.) tonight. Yet, starting next Thursday, after the rain moves out, for about five days, our daytime highs will be in the 50°s F. & lows at night in the 30°s. A lot of up and down with the winter temperatures!

Most plants can handle it 😉 We have the wettest winter in years, so I'm curious how the garden will handle this.

Cool garden! Lots of great plant - Manihot, Euc neglecta, Tetrapanax, Brassiopsis, Impatienses, something like Impatiens flanaganae, or what is it on 3 min 30 sec, right side? What are the corral flowers, on 1 min 13 sec? Thank you for nice video!

Thank you so much! The corral flowers are Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora Montbretia. The flowers at 3:30 are just some Begonias. I always ad some of these in the borders or along the paths.

Welke bemesting pas jij toe? Alles is zo mooi groen en groeit snel.

Een aantal dingen: Alles wordt in de herfst gemulcht met een flink laag bladafval. Hier maak ik ook bladcompost van (voor in het voorjaar). De pot planten zoals canna's krijgen goedkope vloeibare mest en koemestkorrels. Bij de boomvarens gooi ik extra beendermeel. De palmen krijgen speciale palmen voeding en tot slot krijgen de planten zoals rhododendrons nog wat extra turf om de zuurgraad laag te houden. Best een werkje 😀

Thanks, bijna hetzelfde als wat ik doe. Toch zijn jouw planten net even wat mooier groen. Verkoop je weleens stekken? Je hebt mooi spul staan.

@@jolandbos3124 ja hoor. Momenteel heb ik niet zo veel. Alleen wat palm zaailingen. Stekken doe ik int voorjaar (persicaria's/ salvia's). Mocht je iets willen hebben laat het maar weten.
