Growing up in the 1980s , my parents as a treat , used to take me shopping into Stafford,....I loved it,. It was packed with great shops, a wonderful market , and was always busy and bristleing with noise and energy from busy shoppers,...to see it like this breaks my heart, ...like so many towns they've become soulless and quiet ,...the memories of great times spent there as a kid remain , ...so sad to see it today
This is so sad to see, I remember being a student at Stafford College in the late 80s and this town was thriving with lovely locals, me being from Bristol found it a nice warm town to be in😥The towns had its heart properly ripped out, no doubt by out of town and trendy retail centres? Rather ironic @ 7:51 the poster on the window
I've seen this in many UK towns. It's horrible, but I guess with online shopping, amazon etc, this is only going to get worse. I actually predicted it when Amazon and online shopping began.
Is it just the online shopping? What about the malls and retail parks? I guess these venues will have to be repurposed somehow. For example, my country is considered the poorest in the EU, yet both online shopping, the malls and the local streets are doing good here with stores and restaurants and cafes (which are almost always busy) being available.
He's the only politician who can bring hope to this country. If you vote Tory or Labour you will get more of what you are seeing here and will, frankly, deserve it.
Am I guessing that Stafford council are over pricing rent or the landlords? or doing it to move people out to redevelop just like Bristol city council would do!!!!!!!

The great reset in action...
My town Barrow in Furness is moving 600 workers into the old Debenhams, hopefully the extra footfall will give the centre a boost.
Lets hope it is workers and not hmo,s for drug takers as has happened to my town
No the shipyard are putting 600 apprentices in there and they will not have a canteen,so Bakers and cafes will do well.

This does look particular bad though!
