It's a relief that Bashar is out of Syria. I was worried that he was going to win. Now, that he's gone, those who wanted Syria to fail are proven wrong.

How are they proven wrong. Syria is disintegrating before our eyes

Not until you rebuild the country to what it was before 2011.

I lived for a year, in 1977-78, in Aleppo, where I studied arabic with a scholarship of the french university. A french specialist of Aleppo's story and architecture had helped me to found a room on rental in the Jdaida historic district of the old town, a very quiet and beautiful area, with stone houses some of which were christian families palaces very well adorned with carved walls, narrow winding stairs, fountains and some jasmine, wine or fruit trees. It was not far from the Citadel and when I went for a stroll in the old covert markets (suq) I always was lost and after changing my itinerary I found myself all of the sudden in front of the enormous bulk if the citadel ! Yes, I was safe : this could'nt be elsewhere, I was in Aleppo ! Just in front of my room balcony, there was the clock-tower of a church (with the statue of Bishop Farahat in front). I lived with the regular and pleasant chime of if its clock (which could be repaired during the war, an incredible accomplishment). Unfortunately, this room has been destroyed by a rocket, as show some videos. The owners were two sisters from greek origin who worked at home (they were specialized in braces sewing). I hope Aleppo will save what can be saved and rebuild its exceptional historic and architectural heritage. With my best salutations from Paris.

      That's awesome 😎
My family hosted an Italian family in my grandfather's home in Aleppo around the same time, maybe a few years earlier.
Hopefully you'll get to visit Aleppo again once we rebuild.

I have also been to Aleppo before the regime change war. It was beautiful and the people were free and happy. Syria was better of then its neighbors in jordan and egypt despite being closes to the west due to being the last country to resist the occupier. Sad what the new rulers are doing

@@batataandshawarmalover *if you ever rebuild and keep the essence of the country which is highly doubtful. At best Syria will become a vassal state like Jordan

@@marcelcharbonnier297 I was in Aleppo last year and it was still safe, though extremely damaged and impoverished. We walked all over the city buying kebabs, pine nuts, baklavas, and baked goods. It was still wonderful, though nothing like before. We had to pay hefty bribes to get inside the citadel and the section on the Hittite temple to the storm god Haddad is totally gone and shipped to Damascus.
