  • Jewish settlers were finding opportunities in mining, farming, banking, and politics in the Phoenix area. At this time synagogues, trained rabbis and Kosher foods were hard to find in Arizona. It was in 1922 when the first Jewish Congregation was established in Phoenix.
    The congregation grew in numbers and notoriety. Being an advocate for Civil Rights, as well as a supporter of the arts. Today, Temple Beth Israel is now known as Congregation Beth Israel, a museum, educational center and event venue.
