If it's really what you "do for a living" then you should know about obtaining a Filming Permit. Don't start with the Constitutional argument, as it does NOT apply to staged filming. Obtain a permit and you won't have any problems at all, because the police brief everyone on any shifts that overlap the schedule on your Permit.
Do you live in LA or no? Are you just taking word based off a couple videos? Do you know what actually happens in downtown LA? The guys filming didn't have permits and didn't notify the police of Lynn that they'd be filming and wearing police clothing and carrying fake, but very real looking weapons. They saw a gun on his person and was wearing a police shirt, the others with them will also be searched as well because they were with them. Part of the “group”. So an officer is allowed to do a search or a frisk for weapons. If they however find drugs during this search than it is what it is. The only thing I see a little fishy here was the blond female cop had taken a really long time to find the contraband in his front pocket. It is important that during a frisk an officer does not go “fishing” in pockets for other contraband unless she knows immediately what it is by her training and experience. She as really digging in that pocket for a long time and a good lawyer could argue she was fishing and no longer searching for weapons. Now if he was arrested a complete search of a person is warranted. This has been argued by the Supreme Court. You are welcome.

What I see is at least 2 guys that look like they're attempting to impersonate a law enforcement officer and 2 more with firearms. What did you really expect to happen? Impersonating any government official is a federal offence. Since that was the crime suspected, they had the authority to detain and search all parties involved. If you're in public, looking like a cop, "acting" like a cop, and playing with realistic guns, that is enough to charge you with impersonation. If you're in your own property with privacy fencing, or on a closed set, then you would be right. Any good filmmaker would know to contact the local authorities to let them know they were doing a film in public with prop weapons and fake cops. They might have wanted an officer on site to make sure you guys didnt get shot by a "good samaritan" thinking he was being a hero while you were filming.

They saw a gun on his person and was wearing a police shirt, the others with them will also be searched as well because they were with them. Part of the “group”. So an officer is allowed to do a search or a frisk for weapons. If they however find drugs during this search than it is what it is. The only thing I see a little fishy here was the blond female cop had taken a really long time to find the contraband in his front pocket. It is important that during a frisk an officer does not go “fishing” in pockets for other contraband unless she knows immediately what it is by her training and experience. She as really digging in that pocket for a long time and a good lawyer could argue she was fishing and no longer searching for weapons. Now if he was arrested a complete search of a person is warranted. This has been argued by the Supreme Court. You are welcome.

What I see is at least 2 guys that look like they're attempting to impersonate a law enforcement officer and 2 more with firearms. What did you really expect to happen? Impersonating any government official is a federal offence. Since that was the crime suspected, they had the authority to detain and search all parties involved. If you're in public, looking like a cop, "acting" like a cop, and playing with realistic guns, that is enough to charge you with impersonation. If you're in your own property with privacy fencing, or on a closed set, then you would be right. Any good filmmaker would know to contact the local authorities to let them know they were doing a film in public with prop weapons and fake cops. They might have wanted an officer on site to make sure you guys didnt get shot by a "good samaritan" thinking he was being a hero while you were filming.

1. If they dont have a permit to film (which they clearly didnt) that man is technically impersonating a police officer.
2. Just because they are filming a skit and have a couple “props” doesnt mean one of those guns arent real...how are they supposed to know. Assuming everything is fake can get you killed. They are trained to consider any possible threat. If you take your kids to the park and a stranger is carrying what looks to be a gun, but he says its fake...are you going to just take this strangers word for it over you and your familys protection? I think not.
3. With the above said they are suspicious which grants them to search and one of them has pills. Does he really have a script as he states? Maybe...doesnt matter though because the law states you have to have it on you...the fact he didnt is an arrestable offense.
