You being an American, coming from far away, long journey, I understand going only in most well known places, but next time try other spots besides Athens/Santorini/Mykonos. Cheaper and at least equal experience. Also, some islands are being considered as "family oriented" some "party oriented" some "romantic with your girlfriend/wife" etc. Kephalonia, Parga, Crete, Halkidiki! Some places for others to consider.
I leave on Friday. Can't wait. I found the videos on the SantoriniDave channel to be extremely helpful in my Greece trip planning and highly recommend them. Great info for where we're heading.
Its exactly all that I don't search in greece : sun , sport and beaches . But that's fine : every body will be by the sea and I'll stay in the mountains searching opportunities to meet the greek people , share their every day life and traces of their History ( non only the antic one!)
