André Esterhuizen EXCELLENT Performance vs Australia | The Rugby Championship 2023

  • Andre Esterhuizen was one of the unsung heroes for the South Africa in their match vs Australia in the Rugby Championship. I was very impressed by him as he was under some pressure to perform, as he always plays amazing for Harlequins but never quite got going when he played for the Springboks, so it was great to see him have a good performance for SA.
    He really had a great all round game and did a bit of everything, as he was involved every. He was not scared to go into the rucks and try and counter ruck or provide clean ball. But where he excelled today was with his go forward ball, which is expected with his amazing size. But he wasn't just a one trick pony who carried the ball, he showed his amazing distribution skills as we all know he has.
    This is another good sign for South Africa because we've been relying way too much on Damian de Allende, so it's good to see we have some depth here.

      Let's not forget how good Damian is. He's been great for us for a long time now. But I will say this, we need depth at centre, we can't just rely on Damian an Lukhanyo, because anything can happen in the World Cup so we need to prepare for worst case scenario if we get an injury in the midfield. That's why I wanted us to select Henco van Wyk in the squad, so that we can start preparing for life after Am and De Allende.

    @tasanalytics I think the reason why the wings did so well vs Australia is because with Andre taking out 2 defenders, space was created out wide for the wings. Against the AB's the Bok wings were given ball in very bad positions - Kolbe had to feed off scraps. If Andre had been been playing against the AB's, maybe there would have been more space for the Bok wings (and they would have done better)?

    • @katana723
      @katana723 Год назад

      I agree
      The ABs tend to struggle if their midfield is having a hard time defending and Andre is definitely the form 12 for the Boks given his Quins form

    I love how South African rugby Coaches select their inside centres.. Our number 12 is always like a foward backline player which is good for depth and defence.. this is a wonderful technique
    I love Andres game, but he still needs more games to gain experience and be up for the world cup.. Besides that I think he is ready whenever something happens to damian..

    One Dimensional De Allende is on trial. He has zero distribution skills which kills a lot of momentum and space for our amazing outside backs. If De Allende is mediocre yet again then it's time for him to go. Same goes for Faf. He speed of pass and delivery has gone really backwards.

    Im looking forward to your analysis of bokke play at the breakdown v Nz in the 3rd quarter of the match, 5 clear offside/illegal clear out penalties missed. They got away with murder. Luckily the Abs resumed control and finished over the top. Great win, bad luck.

    South Africa were only penalised 3 times in the entire match. The referee missed 14 clear penalties, where is your video showing them, with your neat editing equipment? Oh you only do some games, like that , you what? Oh only the ones you lose. What's that? You only show decisions you feel went against you? Never ones that go for you. Oh now I know who you are.
    Seriously though, I'm pleased to see you producing positive videos. DeAllande is on notice

    • @aldobonaso3481
      @aldobonaso3481 Год назад

      nope, nothing wrong there. The contact was by gold running into the back of green as he was going for the ball, and the ball was loose so he wasn't offside or blocking, nothing wrong there.

    • @Waywind420
      @Waywind420 Год назад +1

      @@aldobonaso3481 Yes there is, green purposely backs away from the ball to impede gold 13 🤷
      13 falls over because of it.
      He was blocked, not by much but by enough.

    • @aldobonaso3481
      @aldobonaso3481 Год назад

      @@Waywind420 i disagree, he is perfectly entitled to take up space around the ball, you can see Am do exactly the same thing in the World Cup final just before Kolbe's try. It's not an exaggerated movement, no ref is going to blow that. If he's making an obvious change of direction while he has no chance of getting the ball, that is different, but in this situation he can shield the ball if he is the one who plays the ball. If he was blocking gold so that another team mate could get to the ball first, then I would 100% agree with you, but in this situation, it would be incredibly harsh to blow that as blocking. He's the one playing the ball, he can position himself between the opponent and the ball of he wants. He can even pretend to pick up the ball in that situation and if gold tackles him it would be a penalty to green...

Sadly I don’t think Siya is going to be fit enough for the World Cup but right now we have more than ample replacement. Esterhuysen is excellent but we are blessed with two great centres who know each others games. Our depth is impressive.
