Good thing is, if you bought MWR for H2M and haven't played it for 2 hours, you can still get a refund on steam. Take your money back folks, Activison or Lack of vision doesn't need it. Activision was terrified that H2M will turn the focus away from Flop Ops 6 As soon as I make video saying how scummy Activision is, they come out and 1up themselves on the scum charts.
@loadedbuggy1264 That's the reality of a billion dollar company. Willing to piss on their customers who made them who they are today. At the end, it only matters if the investors are happy, not us.
It just sucks because h2m genuinely would have been huge. They just don’t care about the community, which is wild because imagine if every other game company shut down community mods the way Activision does. It is cool that the community just said fuck it though and just leaked that shit and now there’s a ton of people playing right now.
Thankfully the files did get leaked as you likely already know so it's a win for the community, but it will not get the support it deserves from the devs.
I remember a time where developers would praise and pay tribute to mod makers for their games. Games like Neverwinter Nights or the old Bethesda games were litterally designed around the community making mods for the games. The mods helped the game grow, attracted new players and made the games better for everyone. Now we have devs, or publishers probably, discredit, hate or even ban mods for their games as in this case. It's truly disgusting how the industry has changed over the years. I like you, have no interest in the new cod games. Last cod Game I bought and played was actually Black Ops 2, so its a long time now for me.
Games often thrive off of having a good modding community. Bethesda games would not be as popular and have the staying power they do if it wasn't for mods. Which is why they built mods into the console versions. Same goes for something like Minecraft. If Activision was smart, they would allow the community to support these "dead" games for them and let the community do the work.
Unfortunately, unless the sales of the newer games tank, Activision will keep doing stuff like this. That being said, Warzone is too popular for a mass exodus to happen anytime soon and the hype for Black Ops 6 is through the roof because of delusion. XDefiant is every Classic CoD player's best bet, even though it's far from perfect.
Yeah I would have bought the game, now I will just torrent it, fuck this greedy company. The worst part is that COD started as a MOD itself to become successful but they are not allowing others to become successful of them, sad.
Activision is not a company for the players. I wish the devs of XDefiant didn't have the restrictions of working under Ubisoft because with more time, they could really craft the old school COD players DREAM game.
Agreed with everything you said. To play devils advocate: I believe the mod might have used some of the original MW2 assets, so Treyarch might be upset that only MWR is required to play the mod. Also, I think Treyarch recognizes there is a demand for a MW2 multiplayer remastered game, but they want to be the ones to make it (on their timeline) and charge what they want. So the “why” to your question is greed. They prioritize their own profits so far in front of what is healthy for the community.
Great breakdown. Admittedly I didn't spend much time thinking of the real reason why they would do this. I was definitely speaking emotionally. Regardless of their reasons, I agree it all boils down to greed.
The files were leaked and it's still fully playable, it works on torrented versions of the game.
This was the best news for the community. I'm bummed the devs can't continue to polish things, but at least the mod is out there.

Activision is always trying to outdo themselves. And they succeed. Just not in the way they intend....

@@SiegeOnYT another spot on take...
i just feel sorry for the H2M devs who probably spent countless sleepless nights trying to get the mod working for over a year without pay
Agreed. They put all the effort to have to just drop all their work like that. So sad. They are the real victims for sure.

You are so right. As sad as it is. Activision will be Activision...

it still works?
Been playing all night just got off works like a charm
After the files leaked, the community seems to be decent but it will sadly not get the support from the devs that it deserves.
