Apparently Philadelphia Union went from their normal 4-4-2 diamond to 5-4-1 to sell out for Busi, but it backfired. Combine that with some absolute choker and the game looked so much worse that it should have been. PU ended the game with 2.6xG to 0.6 for Miami, but granted Miami stopped playing at half time. It really feel like they were starstruck.
Blake (Philly’s Keeper) is an MLS stud and Jamaica’s national team starting GK and captain- he’s a decent player just a mare start to this game and Philly are a very decent team in fact they won the Eastern conference last season and lost to LAFC and Gareth Bale in a crazy MLS Cup (playoffs) final worth checking out in your spare time or something. (Also the Leagues Cup features all 29 MLS teams (26 USA and 3 Canada) and all 18 Liga MX teams in a group format and then knockout stage. This matchup is the semifinal. The other semi was Nashville SC and Monterrey in Mexico and Nashville won 2-0 setting up a Nashville v Miami final)
Messi really looks like he enjoys Miami more than he did Paris
I mean he’s constantly winning. He isn’t being stormed everywhere he goes like in France. He got many friends in Miami. There’s a big Latino community in Miami too.
no player will ever enjoy the delusional PSG fans
No one enjoys time at PSG. Worst club in world football.
They just buy players with absolutely no plan and hope it works. They could have 5+ UCLs if they had anybody there with a long term plan.
He literally said that yesterday. Good call.
I think he didn't even enjoy Paris
3x goalie of the year in MLS I do believe. Dude just had a bad game he is a great player tho.
He’s quality, particularly by MLS standards where keepers just get shelled with a poor defense in front of them.
There’s a reason why Philly has had such a great record the past few seasons and Blake is a massive part of that.
Honestly he was probably star struck by Messi, I think the entire league was star struck by him. I would've preferred Miami vs Monterey because they would've prob been better competition
Haven't seen a howler like that from Blake in a long ass time. He's a top 3 CONCACAF keeper most the time
He didn't have a bad game, he's def on Inter Miami's payroll
@@theboywonder721 he played against him before tho. In a game against Argentina (He's the keeper for Jamaica)
I appriciate Daz calling out the horrible defending
1:59 seeing Josef Martinez ball out for Miami makes me happy. He was a pivotal piece for us (Atlanta United) when we won the MLS Cup back in 2018.
He was never the same after the injury. A year-long injury layout is never good.
Your commentary helps soccer make more sense.
Definitely helps me enjoy this sport more all the time.
It’s fairly popular in Indiana as is….This type of channel helps my personal knowledge along.
The cup final is this Saturday. Inter-Miami vs. Nashville SC. Nashville is in Tennessee.
It's not Charlotte FC against Inter Miami in the Leagues' Cup final, but Nashville SC. Nashville defeated Monterey CF of Liga MX later the same night, 2-0. Charlotte FC was defeated in the quarterfinals by Inter Miami 4-0. Messi, Busquets and Alba have yet to play in a MLS game, as they all debuted in Leagues Cup.
Love the reaction and the comment section, definitely starting to pick up the game more with these videos. I may be easier because MLS’ defenses are mostly crap but it allows me to see why things happen on the pitch.
Phillies keeper is actually really good. No joke. He just has a stinker of a performance. Every good player got a bad game, it’s too bad that it had to be an important game.
He’s inspiring a new generation of Americans.
Nice, Drake Callender the Miami goal tender was born in my city. Sacramento Ca. Glad to see a hometown player do well. Making some amazing saves. No that Donovan is not related to Landon Donovan. Landon's son is only 7 years old.
That keeper is the best in the league 💀💀 bro folded
Nah that's just embarassing if he's the best
Burki def better, but he is probably second best
He's not the best keeper in the league
Great reaction, lads. My boys have done it. Finals, here we come. Philadelphia keeper (Blake) is one of the best in the league. He had a bad game. Our Miami born lad, Ben Cremaschi, has a bright future. Tata Martino has made a big difference as well. It's definitely not just Messi, Busquets, and Alba. My boy Callender has been spectacular in the Leagues Cup. We're gonna play Nashville in the Finals. #GoHerons
Andre Blake is one of the top five in MLS history for clean sheets, saves, and goalkeeper of the year awards. He’s one of the best not just in MLS but in all of CONCACAF. He just had a poor game. Everyone on Philadelphia did. This is just the sixth home game Philadelphia has lost since the start of calendar year 2020.
Maybe the poor competition make them better then they are, I mean they left open spaces everywhere
@@ashishd380 I think the problem with Philadelphia is similar to the problem for the teams that have been carved up by Miami so far… With the exception of Dallas, every MLS team that has played, Miami has seemed intimidated and overwhelmed. Many of them aren’t playing in the traditional shapes they play with all season, going under their way to change their formation and their style when they play Lionel Messi, which only hurts them. Dallas was the only team that did not seem rattled by playing against inter-Miami and they were actually able to almost get a result, even getting a draw. I was watching a talkshow/podcast here on RUclips… And I think what the host said is pretty accurate. It’s like Messi has the awe factor not just for the fans, but for the players on the opposing team.
@@ashishd380they played a formation they dont usually play because of injuries. they looked like they didnt know where they were supposed to be because they probably didnt
Daz is right teams are playing scared against this Miami side. It’s like everyone is star struck playing against Messi
Brenden Aaronson came from Philadelphias academy and so did his young brother Paxten who just moved to Eintracht Frankfurt
Messi will be in Nashville to play my Nashville SC. Let’s get that Wdub
Long message warning: but pls read lmao
i was at this game yesterday loll. im a long time union supporter. andre blake our keeper for a long time now has easily been the best in mls for many years this game does NOT do him justice especially if you watch his highlights he has pulled off some of the most insane saves you will ever see. He was meant to head to crystal palace or brighton a little while back but had visa issues. we were also missing our star striker julian carranza to injury which is why donovan, who has no relation to landon lol, was in his place. as for our defense, we have had the best backline for many seasons but were exposed this game because of the change in our usual formation. at the same time like you mentioned we held the ball more and had so many chances the game should’ve been tighter and from watching the game messi barely had the ball we closed him down instantly. rough end result but we do have a solid team here in philly believe it or not. i highly recommend watching last seasons mls cup final with lafc and union. or the 3-3 draw with lafc-union both games showcase alot.💛💙💛💙
The goalkeeper looks very athletic and probably has very good reflexes. But sometimes goalkeepers with great reflexes overcommit, and that happened in the first goal. The Messi goal was a result of slight concentration lapse. Messi caught him of guard. Im not sure there are many players in the world who would have taken that shot or could perform it with such a precision, and he probably just didn't expect it.
@@TPacoustic its very rare blake has a bad game. two of the goals, alba and martinez, were due to defensive mistakes as well as formation change. the other two i felt blake could’ve kept out but again he’s one of those keepers that hardly let you down ever. also helps when u have Alba Messi and Busquets on your team eh?😅
Messi Goat
Philly played scared all night. Messi's goal notwithstanding, it was the *rest* of Inter Miami that really carved them. But, I get it. If you're not terrified of the little Argentine, you might do a better job of marking everyone else.
As for Messi's goal... Yes, it was a goalkeeping error, but it's still Messi. And in the keeper's defense, it is not as though it was a sure thing even for LM. I believe that was the second longest distance of any he's ever scored in his career.
I work for the Philadelphia union and we are a great team, actually the most winning team in MLS this decade. We have a pretty solid team and maybe the only team that can actually give Miami a challenge. I know this game doesnt show it but If we play Miami again I think we win. And our goalie is usually WAYYYYYY better than this. I think to many nerves of messi being there threw off our team
Philly are ranked 4th out of the 29 teams in the league
Kryvstov is an Ukrainian international. The Union coach instructed his team to stay back, and Kryvstov just stepped into midfield and hit a long ball.
That's Messi influence too. Kryvstov had acres of space because the Philly coach wanted to limit his space in the final third.
Philadelphia was 30 wins and 1 loss at home before this game. Makes you wonder who have they played..lol
anyone is paying so much money to see Messi loose? he came and he perform well and we should be glad:)
Yeah, they inexplicably changed systems in the first half. Philly hadn't lost at home in like 30 games before this one.
Philly undefeated at home in 2 years
tbf NOBODY expected messi to shoot in that situation
philly played a formation they dont normally play because of some injuries. i just wish it was more competitive because philly has the ability to play so much better
I think to some extent the Messi affect is in play. These players have never had this level of pressure. So I think they're star struck and their over compensate their play which fucks em up a bit.
Also the MLS is known for being a mostly striker heavy league, not much defense cuz that's boring. U can have 0-0 draws in the prem cuz it's massively popular but when a league is trying to make it big u need excitement and that comes from goals. Better defense= less goals = less excitement= less viewership= less money. Early European soccer had a fuck ton of goals but as things progressed they invested more into defense
You can only legitimately buy 3 player with the DP rule, naturally its rarely spent on defenders
The level of MLS is so bad 😭 convinced I could score a brace every game aswell
But do you have the nuts to react to the other semifinal game?
They play against Nashville in the final
Yeah, Blake, the Jamaican goalkeeper, had a rough game. It can happen to anyone.
Landon donavan son is named Talon
Pause the video when you want to talk :)
It’s entertaining seeing people from Europe bash the defending in American soccer lool.
These comments saying the keeper is actually good... if that's true, he's had a shocker and a half. It's really sad the level of defending in the MLS.
Philadelphia Union used to be a bad team but then got good how you think they got this far if they weren’t good
Philadelphia are 3rd in the eastern conference right now. 3nd lowest goals against in all of the MLS. They're a really good defensive side. Embarrasing game from them here, not themselves at all.
Philly thought they could win 😂 they need to work on that back line if they want to do anything at all now
Miami beat charlotte in the quarter finals , the final is Miami vs Nashville
Yes yes yes MLS. Fun league, best league
Nigga said "best" league lmao 😂
Union supporter here.....union played a horrible game. Blake is usually a better goalie and their defense is usually their strongest part of their team. The last two plus years....their home record (including this game) is 30 wins 10 draws 2 loses.
They won the eastern conference last year
Won the supporters shield in 2020 (best overall record in mls). They are in third place this year so far and within striking distance of getting the best record again.
I don't understand having a tournament in the middle of a season. My players wouldn't play.
In Europe the champions league is played in middle of season. In England so is the fa cup and the league cup. All cup competitions in Europe are played during regular season.
You do understand that’s how every top league in the world has been played for the past 50-100 years right? Like how in the Premier League its the League, FA Cup, and those who qualify for either the Champions League or Europa League all within the same season…
England has TWO tournaments during the season, the FA Cup and the Carabao (League) Cup, as most countries have one or two tournaments during the season.
That Philadelphia goalkeeper is supposed to be one of the best in the league. He looks good, athletic and flexible, but it seems he has some concentration issues. Im guessing regular MLS players are just incapable of taking advantage of sudden bad positionings.
That's how he plays. He plays the %s with the angles he takes. He gives up the low % shots. Most of the time he gets away with it.
They changed their system to play against Inter Miami. That’s the biggest mistake you can make in this situation. Also they’re very poor in quote unquote big games
every team folds when they vs messi. union was undefeated last 28 games at home and got destroyed. keeper is normally good was named mls keeper 3 times but he was horrendous this game. first two goals not the best positioning.
Inter Miami is gonna make MLS have to get better players 😂
Both Martinez and Messi's goals would never have happened if it were any decent European team. This is where you can see the lower level competition that the MLS is. I think Messi is going to get bored after his first year.
I always lol thinking of this game. Philadelphia apparently best team of the decade and have this amazing gk blah blah but the clowns can't even position themselves properly for the most basic things. Hilarious
I think teams are just falling into the Messi trap and its costing them
Philly defense was garbage 🗑️
there's nothing. the gk could've done that shot was hit with power and precision just look at his goal vs mexico is basically the same thing
If you watch the Whole Game both defense were terrible
Real shame this is where it ends for them. #NSC 😂😅😅
Don’t be fooled Tata Martino I not a good coach, this is all Messi’s doing. The Messi Effect
Inter Miami before Messi, Busquets and Jordi Alba joined the team this this club this season and in general the last two seasons were terrible team
Union looked horrible in this one.
Which is very rare. Philly owned the East last year. Literally should've won the cup last year
Rigged?? Throwing the game? 🤷
Phili keeper was horrible…
