Great video. Just got my stc1000 and a small AC fan. I’d like to program cooling at 3c with a variation of 4 degrees where the fan switches on at 3.1 and when it increases to 7c cooling is triggered.

Excellent video - thankyou so much. I'm guessing they forgot to enclose an instruction manual with my unit. There was an 'intsructions' booklet, but no mention of the F1-4 functions. You've probably just saved my latest fermentation. Thanks again. Jim

Great video, thank you very much. The manufacturer's 'instructions' were woeful by comparison. I shall watch the video again, make notes and write my own manual!

    Hi. Great video.
I've been running an STC-1000 to control my fermentations for years and it works really well. However, I recently bought a second unit to run the heater in my reef aquarium, there's a strange problem with it...
I have the unit wired into just the heater, so no cooling. I wired it just as per your video (I couldn't remember how to do it). The temperature probe is the same as yours and can be immersed into water. I placed the probe into the rear of the tank.
The temperature calibration is actually bang on to be fair.
Here's the problem: The unit sits nicely at it's set temperature of 26 degrees. Then every ten minutes or so, the units flips to 25.3 degrees and engages the heater for about a second. The unit then flips back to 26 degrees and turns the heater off for about a second. This flips about 5 times until it stops for another ten minutes, then the cycles reoccurs.
F2 is set to 0.5 degrees.
If I set F2 to 1 degree, the unit drops to 25.3 and stays there without engaging the heater. Then flips back to 26.
It's almost as if 25.9, 25.8.... 25.4 don't exist and it drops straight to 25.3.
The probe isn't moving around and so it cannot be such wild swings in water temperature. It's far too regular for that too.
Faulty probe? Well why would the probe work and then flip-out periodically? I would have thought if it was a faulty probe it just wouldn't work at all.
Faulty wiring: I doubt it very much. Would not having a cooling unit wired in cause this? I can't see why it should.
    Faulty unit: Maybe.
Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated!

The resettable cooling delay is to the fridge compressor starting. This is to allow the high side pressure to drop so that the compressor motor starts unloaded. The compressor also has a heat detecting delay which is clumsy and too slow. That is to protect the fridge from momentary mains failures like being accidentally turned off then on again quickly.

Leif Stenstrom. Hello, Sweden calling. Tanks for an exellent eduacation. The programming was simple and easy. For comming instruction. Try to lower the music backgroundlevel a little wich will make it easier to concentrate on your instructions for foreigner and older people.

Thankyou for the video. Very clear instructions. Actually, I wasn't sure if what I was buying (the STC1000) would suit my needs. It arrived today. I was hoping from its brief descriptions on eBay, that it would control (regulate) a 220-240V 25W small silicone heating pad I bought for guitar repairs to heat a certain wood glue used there to its melting point (approx 70 C).
However, if I leave the silicon pad switched on, it appears to go well above that eg. it will scorch black a piece of pine . That may be around 300 C.
So , just asking if this device, if set at 70C, will hold and regulate the silicone pad to around 70C ?
I wont need the cooling feature. Thanks again.

Can it be changed to work in Farenheit? I hate Celcius! would have to be converting!

Good question! Should have covered it in the video but didn't occur to me as a European! Yeah, 99.9% all these models will work in farenheit too.

Thanks, What's the recommended NTC probe spec (I lost mine in a move) as in resistance at what deg C (set of curves would be great -10C to 100C) ? Yes I do understand the calibration procedure but, it's unclear if the controller could handle linearity, so for sake of precision within the accepted controller math range fitting the curve etc i prefer to know the recommended value, thanks

Thanks, really good demo. The english in the instruction leaflet that came with the stc1000 is seriously mangled and takes some decoding!

Hello, I want to use this unit to control a cut off at a lower temperature of a positive pressure loft fan. At the moment the fan shuts off at higher temperatures in the loft (28ºc) but continues to operate at low temperatures (3ºc and lower). I just need this unit (ordered) to switch off when colder than 10ºc (or thereabouts). I'd guess I need to wire it on the cold pots as a relay but how would I program it to achieve this please? Thanks in anticipation. NH

The calibration of plus 1.3 C that you mention... I don't see how to set it differently than when using F4 to set the temperature variance that is allowed?

Hi. If you put this on a timer will it retain all settings when switched back on? Thanks.

F3 on my stc 1000 is a delay, it stops the cooling being activated for the preset time rather than staying on for the preset time, its annoying as im using it to run a heater and fans to heat and cool a fishtank

@@naturalsIV Thank you. I have extended by about 1.5 meters. I have checked the temp against an instant read thermometer and they align.

Hi, thanks for your nice video. I have a differential thermostat with 2 sensor (www.thermomart.com/Temperature-Controller-Digital-Thermostat?product_id=254), one in the cool box, the other in the refrigerator. Impossible for me to setup the temp. to have a range of temp. between -10C° and 15C°. If you have an idea for the settings to work. Thanks

I really don't know - sorry. Not a unit I've ever used before.
