The Georgia Dome getting closed and destroyed after 25 years is peak financial bubble. Stadiums like The Big Sombrero in Tampa or the Silverdome in Detroit were getting long in the tooth for sure, but the Georgia Dome was a good stadium. What a waste of resources and terrible planning.

You're not wrong, the Georgia Dome was only 25 years old and had another 5 or more years to expand its lifespan, with renovations getting done by then or getting a new stadium built down the line. Though, the current Mercedes-Benz Stadium could have been built this decade and be home of the Falcons and Atlanta United teams occurring their new home and hosting other events.

Utley gave a "thumbs up" as he was wheeled off of the Silverdome field, which was why the Redskins' players were doing the gesture seen here).

That said, I always thought that the Silverdome should have had another Super Bowl. Stupid NFL has a "once a decade in a northern climate" policy on Super Bowl sites. Shouldn't be a big deal with domes: Detroit, Minneapolis, and Indianapolis. No, we don't want Super Bowls in Foxboro, Buffalo, Cleveland, or Chicago (the one at Met Life was a disaster), but give northern domes more opportunity.

    Super Bowl 1 (Packers/Chiefs)
    Super Bowl 3 (Jets/Colts)
    Super Bowl 4 (Chiefs/Vikings)

    Super Bowl 20 (Bears/Pats)
